I absolutely love them, have come close to pulling the trigger on the PanoMaticLunar. I just don't think it would much wrist time over some of my other options.
From what I’ve seen, the dimensions are right in the sweet spot for my small totally normal and average sized 6.5” wrists.
Cool uncle is thinning his collection and gave me an old gshock today. Nothing special, but my first gshock and I’m big fan.
I also rolled hamilton today, but that was like 12 hours ago when I wasn't at work and wearing my standard apple watch at work.
Can’t recall who wanted a GMT, but this from Yema, seems quite nice. https://en.yema.com/products/yema-superman-500-gmt-polheim-limited-edition-ygmt23plm-bm2s Spoiler
39mm non starter unfortunately. is a really nice looking watch though, reminds me of the tudor bb gmt with white dial. my wrists too big, having hobbies enjoyment diminished due to my stature rears its ugly head again. need to go try the tudor gmt i mostly settled on earlier to see how it wears.
I have the tudor GMT. It does sit a little high but doesn't really bother me. I have a 7.5" wrist. I did put it on an aftermarket jubliee bracelet with a nice taper.
I’m such a nerd for the Explorer ii 1655, saw the Tudor Black Bay Pro at the Bellagio. Didn’t look half bad on my fat guy 8” wrist.
Now that we are over Thanksgiving I'd like to get a few Festivus takes out there: 1) Pepsi GMT is the most overrated watch in history 2) watches are not investments, buy what you want to wear 3) most (but not all) participants in this thread have very good taste
I love the Daytona, I love the Datejust, I just don't think the GMT is a good looking watch and this is the hill I'll die on.
This is not bait, these are real opinions I have that may or may not be general consensus. I'm opening the dialogue. Also I'd wear that gold Daytona The Blackfish posted well before a GMT.
1. Given price above retail and general unavailability, the nautilus is the most overrated imo. And that’s from a guy who wants one. But $100k+ for their entry level stainless steel is a lot of hype. The jubilee Pepsi gmt is pretty great imo and doesn’t seem to have THAT much hype. It’s a watch I come back to as a daily wear pretty often. And sure it has some hype, but not much more than the black/blue and definitely less than either steel Daytona. 2. agreed unless you have some plan to resell in the near future (in which case fuck the people who do that anyways). Everything I’ve ever bought I plan to keep forever and to pass on to family.
Speedmaster moon watch (except the 321) most overrated I generally sell watches to buy new ones so while I don’t view them as investments value retention matters to me. I have never “flipped”’ any Rolex bought from AD. Buying well second hand helps, but has been harder the past few years. There shouldn’t be much disdain for quartz watches especially compared to a base miyota or eta movement. I would rather a quartz watch with a cool design than an unnecessarily thick “homage” design watch with an unfinished basic automatic movement. I hate this new culture of hype and LE drops from all brands. I hate the term “beater”’ watch. I take care of all my watches regardless of price.
I love the look of Baltic stuff, but heard they have tons of QC issues & customer service not the best. Just a warning.
