It's not identical at all imo. Fields is coming from an offense that is notorious for failing to produce NFL caliber QB's due to its simplicstic 1 read nature. You have to go back to Alex Smith to find a QB that survived in the NFL from that offense.
It isn’t but he’s not being helped at all. It’s a failure alll around. Bears need to clean house of everyone, fields included this off-season and just start over
just heard known blowhard and moron Michael Lombardi say that Brock Purdy would put up the same exact numbers as Tua in that offense so now I'm not so sure
It's weird that we didn't hear these type things about Mahomes when he was chucking it to Hill and Kelce with Reid dialing up plays. I don't get why the media chooses to bag on some players so much.
We’ve literally seen other QBs run this offense without Tua in it and it looked like shit. Hell even back in the days of (that shitty ass coach who shall not be named) our offenses went completely into the tank the second Tua couldn’t play and back ups came in.
Remember when longtime quality backup/fringe starter Jacoby Brissett suddenly looked like he'd never seen a football in his life during the 2021 offensive shit show, then went to the Browns the next year and immediately became a competent football player again?
No, that was the co-offensive coordinator mess. I was expanding on what CaneKnight said about the offense going to shit a few years back when Tua had the broken ribs. Just piling on that disaster of an offense more than anything.
probably would have heard these type of things if there were 2 years of evidence of mahomes not being nearly as good in another system this is also a lousy comparison because the reid/hill/kelce ecosystem already existed and mahomes quite obviously went in and elevated it
Canes doesn't know ball at all. He thinks we're still running the Urban Meyer offense, which even the most casual should be able to tell that's not the case.
lol this is such bullshit. McDaniel called plays in SF, did they put up similar numbers to the Dolphins under Tua? No? So maybe just maybe a lot of the credit for the Dolphins success goes to the players? Slapping a system QB tag on Tua bc he went from a terrible coach and system to a functional one, one that we don't even know if it's the system or the players tbh, is beyond lame. People are just weird. In some cases, they want to blame it all on the player when in reality they are in a terrible situation and have almost zero chance of succeeding. Like Fields, put him on the Eagles last year with Brian Johnson calling plays and I feel confident he'd look good. Then you have situations like this where people don't want to give the players any credit and just want to give it all to the 2nd year HC. It takes good players and good coaches. One can't do it without the other in that league with very very few exceptions. Taking all credit and giving it to either side is just dumb.
mike mcdaniel didnt call plays in san francisco and brian johnson didnt call plays for the eagles last year so spot on as usual
My bad, meant Steichen. He's gone and the Eagles offense doesn't look as good. Does that mean the players all suck now? Or maybe it takes players and coaches to be good? If a coach has shown he can plug any QB in and put up monster numbers, cool. How many of those coaches exist? That's not the case here. Just assuming it's all a play caller we know very little about is just really fucking dumb. If you want to side with Mike Lombardi, be my guest.
no you didnt, you just googled philadelphia eagles oc and here we are and im not siding with anybody i just explained to you why your dumb mahomes "point" was dumb and now youre arguing against a bunch of stuff that nobody said
Think what you want. I named the replacement, not the one that left. Meh. Hurts looks worse with Johnson than he did Steichen. I said as much during the MNF game. Hurts suck now too? You're coming up with bullshit reasoning to disregard it. Mahomes has an élite play caller and weapons all over and didn't face the same criticism after sitting as a rookie. You can handwave that and come up with excuses if you want but it puts you in the Lombardi column.
Tua, clearly a quality NFL quarterback. Quality NFL quarterbacks need players around them and/or a schematic advantage provided by the coaching staff, to succeed. Less of one requires more of the other. Tua appears to have both. Tua is putting up MVP caliber numbers after 3 weeks. Mahomes is an elite NFL quarterback. He still needs players around him to succeed (see week one). Tom Brady cheated and is a fraudulent piece of shit who also had one of the greatest WRs of all time and probably the best pass catching TE of all-time. Fuck him. Thanks for coming to my TED talk.
Mahomes has been in actual offensive system from day 1. Tua wasn't in a modern NFL offense until Mcdaniel showed up and what do you ya know Why do people insist on ignoring that our coach actively sabotaged Tua with shit hires and that established back ups like Bridgewater and Brissett looked WORSE than him in the pre Mcdaniel systems
I don’t understand why any dolphin fans care. Y’all are good and so much fun to watch. Enjoy the ride and fuck everyone else.
For some reason the sports fans of that city have the largest persecution complex in the nation, which is weird because they also don't go to games, show up late, leave early, ignore non-title-contending teams, and all that other fairweather shit. A true cosmic gumbo of bad fan behavior.
Yeah that's when Day was promoted to OC and we started to get away from the typical Urban Meyer offense.
This thread has made me side with Alabama fans more than once. Damn you all to hell. I’m blocking this thread
Just based on the last couple years I'm extremely confident it will be bumped every time they beat the Bills
the tua contingent has literally told bro to kill himself but a bump after the bills beat the absolute fuck out of the dolphins is apparently uncouth absolutely pathetic stuff
The Dolphins/Tua contingent won't be taking questions at this time. Appreciate your understanding. Gbr
I think we're just laughing at today's outcome rather than drawing any conclusions about anyone's careers at this point.
