If you're wanting to get serious about collecting and storing, EuroCave is my top rec. It's $$$ but great customer service/warranty and I've been more than satisfied with mine. I've also got an off-site locker but that's really only necessary once you hit 20+ cases and are receiving wine consistently through the year IMO.

I have the de negoce 66 and 68 coming next week. Going to give a few away for Christmas presents for work and write it off as a business expense if my accountant will let me.

Was actually looking at the euro cave yesterday as we are about to get started building. What’s another 3k. Woof.

Last bottle mystery boxes came in. Pretty happy with the results-especially on the $180. Have had Sandhi and Lutum before and enjoyed them.

Old boss did it and still does to the best of my knowledge. You can’t do it anymore after the changes a couple of years ago. He decided to just risk that he wouldn’t get audited.

It has a hint of green pepper and spice that reminds me of St. Julien. Maybe it’s the cool vintage but definitely more like BDX than CA. It’s my first time drinking one but I had been led to believe it was more ripe than most old world cab based blends (57% CS, 25% Merlot, 15% CF & 3% PV).

Not Burgundy, but 2015 cru Beaujolais is hitting the spot for me lately. I also dove into one of my Arnot-Roberts Gamay, but that needs more time me thinks.

I don’t know Les Deux Terres but I always recommend the village of Volnay as the best value in red burgundy. It’s not cheap but much less than peers of a similar high pedigree.

BTW - If any of you are into learning about the true Sonoma Coast, I'm doing a zoom tasting with Andy Peay of Peay Vineyards Dec. 10 at 8pm eastern. Should have the wine pack up for sale tomorrow. Best Pinot Noir in CA right now, IMO.

had one of the 2015 hobbs $875 bottle after thanksgiving. it was v good, but i didn't like it any better than the "regular" expensive bottles of cab i have.

the 2016 macauley beckstoffer to kalon is still probably my favorite bottle i've ever had. and if you email them they will sell some to you. it's like 260 a bottle. high recommend if anyone is looking for some expensive cab.

Opened some Sandlands Carignan the other night and I'm not kidding when I say there might not be another wine on earth that offers that much pleasure and complexity for less than $30. Fuck me it was good.

For that size fridge, if you drink a lot of Burgandy varietals, make sure it'll have enough space between rows. I bought a 56 bottle one that can be a struggle to push the bottle in and pull it out due its larger structure. The reviews will probably have quite a few mentions if this is an issue with it.

This one was delicious. It could have used maybe a bit more time in the cellar but really quality juice. Crushable and complex, huge cherry nose and long finish.

Mostly familiar with PNW. Would recommend Maryhill if you want a wide variety and more options and L'Ecole 41 if you want the best value. Both have varietal and vineyard specific if you want to be more precise in your drinking, but many wines can be found around $20 and have some unique styles and varieties you typically won't find at many wineries. For example, L'Ecole does an exceptional Viognier every year that I think can compete with any other I have had, and it's maybe 18 dollars.

If you do look into it, I would lean towards any whites L'Ecole does and Zinfandel from Maryhill to start.
