Well, at least 1 of those HS arms we took late 1st/comp round has some promise. Ashe Russell is broken and Nolan Watson has been terrible.
From a chat with Flanagan yesterday Ashe Russell was the Royals' first-round pick in 2015, a high school pitcher out of Indiana. At some point last season, the 20-year-old right-hander developed some confidence issues in his ability to throw strikes. Russell has not yet been assigned to an affiliate for this season and is in extended spring camp in Arizona trying to work out those issues through some mechanical adjustments. There is no timetable for when he will get assigned. Physically, Russell is fine. MLBPipeline.com ranked him as Kansas City's No. 27 prospect.
Now please, please, please start him at second. Guessing he takes plays mostly OF though until Soler is back. That way Cain/Gordo can get a few off days. And because Orlando blows.
We just had about a 30 second mute of the microphone due to laughing at a Rex-ism. He asked Ryan if he went to Menard's to look for his missing crank.
the pitching staff has really gotten their shit together. wood can still get lost at anytime he feels like tho
What's the point of having Cuthbert and Colon on the roster if you don't use one of them there? Mondesi can move to Omaha any day now.
Dear diary, I watch the royals through mystreams.tv because I'm cheap and stuff. Anyways, it works great...Except I don't always get the FSKC broadcast. For this Giants short series, I've had to listen to Jon Miller and Jeremy Affeldt. Miller is pretty good, but Affeldt is a complete douche canoe. Would not trade any of the FSKC announcers for him...that's how bad he is.
Did anyone notice after they were talking about Whitleys family there was and extended mic silence? Then they came back and they were both laughing and Hud was like "oh my goodness" or something. In my mind someone made some crazy inappropriate comment about Whits sister in their ear.
Me too. His voice is right up there with Fergie/Jesus. Affeldt was a pretty damn good pitcher, especially for the Giants. And, he knows it. Err'thang is about Jeremy. Well, not everything I guess. He did let the audience know that his wife texted him during the game to let him know that his young son had hit his first double of his life. That was pretty neat and the kind of information that I yearn for.
So lady assaults him repeatedly before he reacts. Headline is about the guy. He shouldn't have socked her in thr face but damn
Dude has a Merrifield jersey on, but he's gotta be related to Hosmer. Trajectory of the haymaker was definitely 'down'. That was the ground ball double play of punches. Also, fan is clearly from the MO side of KC.
Pretty ballsy of the dude to throw a haymaker in front of the stadium security guys. The woman probably deserved some crap for her actions, but when security is there, let them handle it.
For as poised and relaxed at the plate Hosmer looked in the WBC, I'm pretty shocked he looks this awful thru 14 games. His at-bats have been terrible and he has left tons of runners on base. He and Gordo need to get it together. I have a little hope for this offense though seeing that they're dead last in the AL in BABIP.
Gotta believe the offense will regress to the 'norm' at some point. Problem is, so will the starting pitching. It's a good rotation, but it's still over-performing.
Damn, we all missed a really easy "at least someone was getting a hit at the K" joke with the dude's TKO last night.
I was for a while treating this Mondesi situation as Ned and Dayton being Ned and Dayton. You just take the good with the bad with them. It's how they roll. But now I'm starting to get mad. He is fucking worthless right now. It's inexcusable to even have him above AA at this point. What the fuck are we doing?
It's unfortunate that Dyson is on the DL, because that's the only way they're gonna score this series it seems
I used to do my bathroom/beer/household chore runs when the Royals were on defense. This year has flipped that script.
Hosmer is broken right now. Needs to go out and find a plus-sized southern gal tonight and bust out of this slump. Esky - Orlando - Mondesi strikes fear in opposing pitching staffs.
