Get one without the seam, regardless of color. Pure opinion, but I like the darker color. I'd obviously wear both and be smug as fuck wearing either of them.
I'm a big boot guy, and for some reason, I have always been enamored with Nocona boots. So a few months ago, I made a purchase for myself for the first time as a married man (as opposed to begging for permission beforehand--pathetic, I know), and I got these badass kicks: Very pleased with my purchase.
Check out sheplers.com. You can search a couple different things. I'm a fan of ariat myself because the insoles are awesome, and the wide fits my foot well, but Justin is a good brand too
I like the redwings but I was looking for more I guess cowboy boot style. Something sort of like this...
I have Ariats similar to these. They have a little more style/design than those, but IMO Ariats are the most comfortable boot out there, that aren't custom. Ignore the color schemes. The tops come in all different colors (but nobody sees them unless you're a hillbilly that tucks in his jeans or a Florida fan in jorts) and the bottoms come in different shades of brown.
What is the best brand for someone with flat feet and tendinitis in both achilles? I have had a pair of Georgia Boots for 10 years, but both insoles are in two pieces and both out soles have split all the way across the boot in two places, so I guess it is time for a new pair. I just haven't been eager to look because I have flat feet and it took a few months to find a pair that fit nicely last time. They have to have a lot of support and just the right insole for them to be comfortable, so I get frustrated when looking for them and usually just give up.
I run my dad's safety shoe/western boot store. He opened it in 1992. I guess I could have been some assistance in this thread the last few years.
Idk about the brand of boot, but insoles are replaceable, man. Don't wait til they're completely fucked. You can have your boots re-soled as well, if you really like the boot and it's worth it (can cost anywhere from $50-$100 depending). I'm an Ariat whore, so I've bought their insoles for all my Ariat/non-Ariat boots. I'm no Dr. Scholls, but I suspect you need something with a lower heel and rubber sole seems like it'd be easier on your feet. Maybe something like this: http://www.ariat.com/Western/Men/Footwear/Professional/HeritageStockman.html?color=BARREL_BROWN EDIT: Ask mointegra90, he'll have better advice.
I'm looking for comfort and not too crazy expensive since I'll be basically wearing them 7 days a week in dirt, dust, rocks, snow, etc over here. Also I haven't worn boots like these since I was a kid. How do the sizes go generally?
Depends. Do you like answering the same questions over and over again? Are you okay when people get butthurt when you don't satisfy their conformation bias? Do you like answering the same questions over and over again?
I have bought 6 different replacement insoles over the past 3 years and none of them worked. And the sole is rubber so I didn't know if they are replaceable. And they are pretty much already past the stage of being fucked. Part of the sole flaps around when I walk and the insoles always come out or get balled up at the back when I pull the boots off.
i have so many fucking pairs of boots and only one pair of sneakers/tennis shoes/running shoes/whatever the fuck you want to call them
Have you looked at these? For every day wear they're tough to beat and they have a real classic look. http://www.sams-safety.com/shop/footwear/plain-toe-non-steel/red-wing-1178/yagendoo_VaMazing_1
Man I really like those. Can't order them online from that store and I have no idea what size I wear width wise. May have to wait till I come home to get a pair.
Comfortable as fuck. I've worked in them long days before and had no problems. It's the red wing 1178 .
Know anywhere to get them online? I can probably figure out my width, I have a normal sized foot and wear a size 10. I'd love to get that pair.
I wanna say @tydefan found a good spot. I'd ask him, the info is either ITT or in the post a pic of your latest purchase thread.
I have wide, flat feet and any EE boot I've bought from red wing, artiat, lucchese, or Justin has been enough. I'd look at the ariats for your tendinitis though, they have the most comfortable ride imo
Well we are more of a work boot store so we don't have the very high end western boots. I can tell you Dan Post/Justin/Double H/Ariat are very good for the price. I an wearing the Double H now and I love it. Best quality boots you can get for work Red Wing Justin (American Made) Double H Ariat Rocky
