Philly lost to Chicago and is now just two points up on us and we have a game in hand. Philly and Detroit are both complete shit shows right now so it’s really just going to end up who is less embarrassing to finish the season.
Honestly, neither does Philly or Washington. I’d rather just make it because I forgot what it’s like to watch a Wings playoff game but it’ll be 4 or 5 game series, max.
Caps lost in OT but they jumped ahead of Philly as a result of regulation wins. Both teams are two up on Detroit but Washington has a game in hand.
Walman in, Maata out. I think our best solution is buyout Petry. Trade Maata. Suffer through Holl. Maata can be traded whereas Holl can't without compensation, and Petry buyout isn't awful.
It wouldn’t shock me at all. Seravalli even mentioned going into this year that Lalonde could be on the hot seat. It was more of a guess on his part but it was based on his comments as part of the HNIC crew during the Playoffs. Berube didn’t exactly endear himself to young players but he did help develop Robert Thomas. At a minimum the team wouldn’t accept liberties being taken.
Are there rules about buying out someone with retained salary? Because it would effect both Pit and Montreal caps to buy Petry out as well.
I got that part, just didn't know if there were specific rules about buying out someone with retained salary, I guess it's just a risk for team retaining.
I don't think that was a goal anyway, but that's the most veteran thing Perron has provided all season regardless
Tampa SHG overturned. Ten seconds later they score one for real. And they just had a third odd man rush on the same PP.
Looks like after tonight we'll be #4. Or worse, since we're on the PP now... https://www.statmuse.com/nhl/ask/most-short-handed-goals-allowed-2023-2024
Having a bunch of overpaid vets that continually make dumb decisions is not a great recipe for success.
They must have had possession for 90 seconds in our zone at even strength without us touching the puck
Looking at schedules: The Wings have 3 of 7 games left against current playoff teams, which includes 1 against the Caps, and end with consecutive games against the Habs. The Caps have 5 of 9 against current playoff teams. They will play their 2 games at hand tonight and Thursday before the Wings play again. The Flyers have 2 of 6 left against current playoff teams. The Islanders play 2 of 8 against current playoff teams. The Flyers and Caps play on the last day of the season. The Wings are the only team of the 4 with a positive goal differential. The other 3 are -17, -31 and -28.
Almost as important is the Islanders being down to Chicago 1-0. If New York win they will be a point back of Detroit with the same amount of games left.
3-0 in the 3rd. Basically in a dead heat of 5 teams for 3 playoff spots. I think the Penguins will get the final Metropolitan spot and then the Wings and Flyers in the wild card spots.
