No meeting up with some people before a game and needed to get the address. I know you run around there so I thought you might know the address.

This is the first pair of shoes I bought strictly of comfort. I think they're ugly, but as I get older most shoes look like shit in my opinion.

Do we tolerate getting the shits 4 miles into your long run like happened to me tonight?
    Ugh that sucked.
Ran 5 miles. Hunted for bathroom. Was almost to a point of trying to trespass to get to a portapotty at a construction site. Felt dehydrated as hell. Ran another 2mi back to my car and went home.

I did 17 miles last night. Ran it around 3 hours at about 10:45 a mile. Started out slowly and built up my pace.

I was supposed to run 17 miles last week. Went out mid morning, but mentally I was not in it. It was hotter than expected, I didn't bring enough water and unfortunately I quit 11 miles in. I was pissed that I quit, but I was dying out there.

Last night was much better. Temp was perfect, mid 50s, and I brought out enough water and food to get me through.

My cardio was fine, I could have ran another 10 miles no problem, but my legs were another story. At about 11 miles in I started feeling it. Calf's and ankles were killing me at the end, but surprisingly I feel pretty good today. 17 miles was tough, but I still have a long way to go. Crazy to think I would have to run another 9 miles on top of that to complete the Marathon. I'm not there yet, but I feel I'm progressing and training in the right direction.

I am not one of those put a sticker on my car or (other than joking around on here) constantly talking about running marathons, but fuck anyone who thinks running 26.2 miles is nothing.

Fuck it. I am one of those - of the 13.1 variety. For exactly the reason you said. 13.1 isn't nearly as hard as 26.2, but it's hard enough that most never even consider trying it.

I like running 2 miles at a time. Fuck doing 10x that distance plus another 6.2 miles on top of that. But much respect to those that do. I think doing a 1/2 is probably the farthest I'd go.

Knowing what went into my first half and outside of my wife, not having many people close who are into running, I enjoy reading about the experiences here. From two miles to 26.2 or more....ramble on.

BTW, anybody tried the Simple Hydration bottle? I just bought one this week and used it last night. It worked well for me. Of course today on FB I see a 50% off code good only through this weekend. Might have to pick up an extra. Though I bought mine through Amazon Prime so with the shipping cost of buying through the site, I only spent about $3 more than if I'd waited for the code.

Noticed a tightness in my left calf on Wednesday near the end of my run, a little more noticeable yesterday, and today it kicked in earlier in the run and felt really tight. Leaving for Phoenix tomorrow morning for 5 days and plan on getting my miles in before I go but I may just skip any vacation runs/hiking to let it rest up.

I feel the exact same way. I have been very close to the vest about my running, never posting stuff on social media. It has been nice reading this thread and hearing everyone's running stories, ups, downs and everything in-between.

It is nice to be able to have a place to open up about your experiences, and have other like minded people on this subject do the samething. We can learn from each other, and encourage each other because one day we will all wake up and realize we are 80 years old and we just can't run anymore.

I had to take my puppy to the vet at 8 this morning so had to get out early. Did 5.6 in 44:57 at 6:30 this morning. Did a sub 8 min mile which was mile 5 so pretty happy about that. Light run on Thursday (3.2 miles) and light gym workout yesterday had me feeling good this am.

Now time to veg in front of my tv for the rest of the day and not feel any guilt.
