Read a solid review on the episode on Vox and it changed my view on the episode as a result. Spoilers in there if you haven't watched the episode yet. http://www.vox.com/2016/4/14/11424406/the-americans-episode-5-recap-clarks-place-under-pressure
They need to hurry up and get on with whatever the story is with the Korean lady. That bitch and her laugh are annoying as fuck.
I have no idea what's going on with the Korean lady but don't think the other story lines are boring at all. Can't be all action all the time, liked the episode again. Especially Elizabeth in the end
Im the same as Gunners. Felt like a lot was developed and building blocks were laid in some great storylines. And Elizabeth.
Had no idea they were together irl. I love both of them, Rhys plays his character as well as any on TV.
Just finished watching the first 3 seasons and what's out of season 4 in a little over a week. Needless to say I enjoyed it. Nice to have a show to watch in the middle of the week now.
Great look behind the scenes at the making of last week's episode http://www.vox.com/2016/4/14/11411564/how-tv-gets-made-americans-fx-production
I've always hated Martha's character. I'm pretty happy we'll be getting rid of her soon one way or another.
I've been rooting for her to get clipped for years now. Her face annoys me. Everything about her annoys me, actually. I get why she was necessary but enough is enough and it's time for a change.
When Beeman was tracking her I was thinking (hoping) Elizabeth would snuff Martha out right in the nick of time.
was legit mad when it turned out to be a punch why even pretend that she was holding a weapon in her pocket?
@mattzollerseitz Tonight's episode of the Americans is one you will want to watch live, not because of spoilers, but because it's great. @sepinwall 3m3 minutes ago Alan Sepinwall Retweeted Matt Zoller Seitz Perhaps the series' best so far. But you will also want to avoid spoilers.
Uh so my fucking DVR recording cut off right as Stan got to his ex-boss' house and they had just started talking. Anyone care to fill me in on what happened after that? Or should I be just be patient and wait till I can watch it on FXNow app tomorrow?
Elizabeth is a savage. Great transition episode. Interested to see where they go. Love the plot detailing their confrontation with American culture, how it conflicts with their training, and other bullshit in between.
To see the delivery by Paige, you really should watch. And you have direct TV? Saw multiple tweets about dtv cutting the last couple minutes off. But if you want to know Spoiler Stan and gadd talk about the new boss, and oleg. Gaad explains why he thinks Stan might not be wanting to turn oleg. Says "your conscience is bothering you bc of what happened to Nina...it starts to get a little too much. A little too personal" "whatever comes up, feelings, sympathy, friendship, whatever. You can't lose sight of who these people are" Meanwhile, Paige returns from mini golf with pastor Tim and his wife. Shes pissed and walks right by the family playing hockey in the driveway. Philip and Elizabeth stop her (once she's inside) and ask if everything is OK. Like the spy that she is, Paige provides a status report on the pastor on his wife, and we see that while everyone has had a stress free last 7 months (possibly including a trip to epcot and definitely including some family hockey), paige has been living the awful life of a spy that's been thrust upon her and is completely miserable.
Elizabeth's transition from trying to be polite with Paige about needing to maintain constant contact with Pastor Tim to demanding it was pretty scary. She just kinda readjusts herself and snaps to "Well then you get yourself in the mood." Her tone, her face, everything completely shifts from a mother talking to her daughter to something like an officer giving an order to a subordinate.
Loved the EST story this ep. Cut to the meeting, I assume it's Philip. Nope, it's Elizabeth ("I told you I would go"). Ok, cool. She's gonna see what Philip sees in it and might understand him a bit better. Nope. It instead serves as a catalyst for one of their better fights where each (but especially her) express some bad shit that's been held in for these last year or two.
Thought at first that Gadd was at Stan's house and he was gonna come outside and recognize Elizabeth. Show is so good
Thought the exact same thing. Thought we were going to get a Hank in Breaking Bad realization moment there before I realized they were at Gaad's.
I'm assuming he has some kind of control over who gets access to level 4 in the biolab and Elizabeth will now use his belief that he cheated on his wife with her to blackmail him to grant access to their guy who has been getting stuff from the lab for them but didn't yet have access to level 4.
