Almost 100% American Needle. A few imperial mixed in. I'm obsessed with badass logos that people don't instantly know and recognize. I will get my top 10 up here in a few days.
In all seriousness though, I collected hats as a kid and just recently started wearing some again. My mom and her boyfriend got this for me in Cooperstown last fall and I've gotten a lot of use out of it lately.
Here are some of my favorites right now. Hard to pick a few. L-R, Back to front. Peachtree, Willow Point, Merion, Chattanooga Golf and CC, Shinnecock Hills, Philadelphia Cricket Club, Augusta National, Bandon Dunes then the best for last... the milk jug of McArthur Golf Club.
That isn't my favorite Peachtree hat but I love that place so I wear it a lot. My dog ate the badass one.
BTW guys, I think that (thankfully) the flat-bill fad is coming to an end. Not too long ago I noticed LeBron started wearing nike slouch caps postgame, and more and more I see black people wearing franchise-type hats with deep bill curves. I hope this happens, because I would love for the hat makers to focus their creativity into that style of hat. There have been so many cool fucking hats that I have seen that I didn't buy because of it being a high-profile 59/50 or snapback, meanwhile the relaxed/unstructured fitted lines have suffered in selection and creativity.
The flat-bill era can't die fast enough. My wife threw all my hats in the washer, without asking me or me even knowing beforehand, and ruined my favorite hat. Had the hat racks used to clean them and she didn't bother using it at all. Ugh.
She stuck it in the washing machine with the rest of my laundry. My white MU hat stabs me in my head when I try to wear it now. Was definitely mad.
So these New Era low profile hats are the real deal huh? Been sticking to the '47 Brand lately but I wouldn't mind picking up a new Cubs hat in the low profile style. Get kinda tired of trying to bend the bills on the 59/50s and them getting all fucked up and broken. Not to mention the thing sits about 3 inches off my head in the front and makes me look like an asshole.
I was told 2 great ways to get rid of the "poof" in the front of 59/50s - one currently escapes me, but the other is to wear it to the gym/exercise. I am not a fan of getting the entire hat wet to break it in as it damages the bill. just remembered - hair dryer.
I've tried the hair method but haven't had much success. I'm also not s fan of showering/working/working out in a good new hat. Seems like a good way to ruin the bill like you said or stain it with sweat.
Run it under water and put a plastic bag over the bill secured with a rubber band, you guys can borrow my brain whenever you want
I break my hats in by doing everything in them...Half the time my hats look like they were worn by Eric Gagne circa '03. Throw them in the dishwasher, turn off the drying cycle and let them air dry
I wear a 59/50 to the gym. The sweat has definitely suppressed the "poof". Problem is, it is no longer something I would wear in a non gym situation. One trick that worked for me - stand in the rain. I have a 59/50 that has the perfect level of "poof" based on sitting at the ballpark in the rain with the hat for maybe 30 minutes.
low profile is a game changer. about to find the go to. no idea which team or what style as I don't really have ties to any pro team. suggestions welcome
Team '47 Brand Franchise, but I kopped a New Era 3930 a while back and they aren't too bad. http://shop.neweracap.com/style/MLB-Fashion-Classic-39THIRTY-Cap/20706460
is there a difference between "low crown" and "low profile"? also St. Jimmy how does the 39thirty fit in relation? I don't like the fred mcgriff fit of the standard fitted hat
probably go with braves. i like the way some of the alternates look and it's the only pro team i've ever given a shit about. navy/white with lowercase red A is in low-crown. about to pull the trigger
I had this question too initially. What I found was, No... They are called low-profile, but some sites advertise them as "low-crown" Ordered a Reds hat that was listed as "Low Crown", and when it came, the size tag says "Low Profile" under the number.
