Oh you mean the tolls that have no cap on them and where we hired a company that has declared bankruptcy like twice before? Those tolls? Oh yea, nothing can go wrong.
And so very clearly paid off the city council. Fuck the tolls project so much, literally no one wants this.
Anyone grabbing beers tonight? Also, anyone know anything about the Symphony Pops in the Park on Sundays? I was thinking about going out there this Sunday afternoon and giving it a shot. Didn't know if it was worth it or not.
You and I think alike, that was the first thing I checked before even considering it. It is BYOB as well as having a NODA tent set up.
Just envisioning coastal and tobias enjoying a nice sauvignon blanc on a hot summer night at the symphony.
Well Tobias is basically a chick with all his whining and bitching, but no, this would be with an actual chick.
Mentioned this elsewhere but I am pretty pumped Thirsty Nomad Brewery is opening soon. I have had a few of their beers at different beer festivals over the past year and have always come away impressed. http://www.thirstynomadbrewing.com/home/
i think one of the partners lives in my 'hood. i jog by a black SUV with their logo on it almost daily. where are the gonna be located?
If my power goes out one more time this week... Is it only Plaza that has been getting crushed by these storms?
I have heard all kinds of stories (and even see the trees down and all that) of how bad these storms have been but I guess I have just been lucky. I've barely dealt with any rain aside from a brief monsoon earlier this week and that's about it.
the 28205 zip got hit bad. i did not lose power but trees down all over Villa Heights/NoDa/Shamrock/Country Club. a few houses near me destroyed even. that shit was crazy Friday night ...
CHARLOTTE, N.C. – A proposal placed before the Mecklenburg County Commissioners board by the city’s park and recreation department last week saw the Charlotte Independence take aim at making the city’s historic downtown Memorial Stadium become the club’s permanent home. The proposal would see the Independence’s ownership group be part of a $25 million investment to renovate the historic stadium, with the goal of the venue being ready in time for the 2019 USL season. According to a report in the Charlotte Business Journal, should the proposal be approved this fall, site preparation and demolition would start late in 2017. The proposed construction plan would reduce the stadium’s capacity to 10,800, including 7,200 permanent seats and a grass berm that would accommodate 3,600 additional fans. The agreement would need to be approved by the city’s visitors authority board, county commissioners and City Council, with negotiations currently hammering out how the costs for the overall project would be split between the county and city government and the Independence. “We’ve needed to renovate Memorial Stadium for a number of years,” Mecklenburg County Commissioners board leader Trevor Fuller told the CBJ’s Erik Spanberg. “But money, as always, has been the issue. This is a chance for us to [combine] money from the city and the county and the team. I’m hopeful.” RELATED: Switchbacks Ramp up Stadium Investment The Independence are on course for their first playoff appearance in the USL this season, with the club preparing for a big game on Saturday against the New York Red Bulls II at Ramblewood Stadium. Following the first international exhibition on Wednesday night against the Premier League’s Swansea City A.F.C., players voiced their hope the club’s visibility would continue to rise in the local soccer community, which has seen a number of high-profile international clubs visit in recent years during the summer months. “The fan base is here,” said midfielder Enzo Martinez. “That if people want to see good soccer and keep supporting us, this could be something special and you could see that tonight. The fans were great and it was a fun time and I think if people keep coming, keep seeing us play hard, they will enjoy it.” Photo courtesy Charlotte Independence With the USL’s goal of having its teams move into their own soccer-specific stadiums by the 2020 season, in addition to USSF Division II requirements that would see the club need to be in a facility with a minimum capacity of 5,000, the Independence’s plan would put the club on a strong footing on and off the field to help the club grow in one of America’s stronger soccer hotbeds, and give the historic venue a chance for a new lease on life. “It’s an intriguing proposal,” City Council member Kenny Smith told Spanberg. “It presents an opportunity for the city to work with the county — this may be an opportunity for us for the long-term. We’re going to need to work together on green space and parks [in the near future].”
The roof is awesome, but I've never liked the food. The wings are pretty good. I'd hit up Midwood Smokehouse if they're in that area. Or Pizza Peel. Or Seoul Food in South End. I'm addicted to the chicken wings at Seoul Food. So good.
yeah i was bringing it up more bc of the roof aspect. i like the food but i am pretty basic i need to try pizza peel and midwood smokehouse
truth ... maybe the wings. otherwise its pretty awful. literally the last place i would think of to eat in Plaza ...
pizza peel is kind of "meh" in terms the pies. nice location and beer list are great but striclty pizza theres other spots i prefer ...
Tried this place and was sorely disappointed for the price. Though I did not try the wings so maybe that was my mistake. I love Moosehead's wings though.
It's not that expensive I didn't think. The pork is like 8 or 9 bucks for a ton. Gotta try the wings next time for sure. The alcohol at Seoul is absurdly expensive though.
