the general opinion is the "present" timeline dolores is taking the same journey by herself that she took with william 30 years ago which is supported by the random cuts we see of her by herself
We also haven't seen that church steeple looking thing from the desert. Ford ran into his kid self out there, and then brought Bernard out there. He was talking about his new narrative and said it was quite original. The white church looked like the one Dolores keeps seeing.
Ford is a host created by Arnold who then killed Arnold. That is why he can control everything with his mind.
I'll admit I'm more on-board with the multiple timelines shit and MIB=William than ever before, but it still feels like very unproven conjecture. It is not beyond this show to lay on hints that thick and then fuck your mind up
and at the revelation that Odin is a robot GoodForAnother can you clean up the site a little bit, jesus, the Board is going to be all up in our shit soon
I don't think it can understated how far out of the park they hit it with casting. Not only did they somehow get Hopkins and Harris, but ERW, Thandie Newton, and Jeffrey Wright are hugely underrated and superb actors.
just more evidence of how the prestige TV shows are supplanting a lot of cinema...the heavyhitters want in on these projects now.
To me, Dolores really fucks with that theory (i'm warming up to the possibility of it being true but still would need to see a hell of a catalyst for his transformation). According to the MiB=William arguments I've seen - Dolores made this journey with William 30 years ago, and now again just happens to be doing the same thing by herself 30 years later. Hoping there is a damn good answer as to why the arbitrary time for her to just up and do it again. Likewise with why Arnold-Code just randomly kicked in 30 years after the original time and started talking to her again. But then we see her going to find Arnold with William (several flashbacks and voices saying "find me" so not eating the bullshit "I just wanna be me and not part of a story" she keeps feeding William to get him to keep going with her). But MiB is going around his elbow to get to his asshole scalping people for head-maps and shit while Dolores is just taking the train-horse shortcut right back to Arnold. Which William/MiB made with her before. And he's been coming there for 30 years... knows every damn thing about the park and the people/narratives in it - but somehow never figured out that Dolores was looking for the maze/arnold? That's a huge contradiction to how smart and park-savvy he's shown to be. And if he truly didn't and still doesn't know about Dolores's connection to the maze/arnold, what the fuck did he do in the barn? Everyone he's fucked with in the current park visit has been on his agenda to get to the maze.
It's really a win-win-win for the actors, the networks, and the viewers. All of these actors have the chops to play leads but maybe not the marketability.
yea i know that's why i'm warming up to it but can't get on board yet. oh and 30 years of dropping and picking up that goddamn can. while most of the other hosts we've seen get new stories/roles. this part isn't even an argument against it more of just a Going solely off the fact that it appears Clementine has been a whore since day 1 in the park, Dolores wouldn't be the only one that hadn't had different roles
I hope I didn't ruin it for you guys back on October 25th when I said it was painfully obvious Bernard was a host after ep 4. Granted, I don't think I did, because you all thought I was an idiot after reading back through those pages. (All of these are taken from page 17)
Gave you a like for being correct, but how did you know he looked exactly like Arnold in Episode 4 when it now seems apparent that we have never seen Arnold in the entire season............. smells awfully blind-squirrelish but hey it's better than being wrong
Woah...this opens up some real possibilities. First picture is from episode 7 and bottom picture is from the video that Maeve saw. She drew the location before getting there, so her being there before was already pretty much confirmed. Does that mean this was always a plotline since it is in the videos? I can't even wrap my head around what it all means, but I assume it means that we are either seeing what was historical or she is doing it again. There are also quite a few examples of seeing mirror images and similar scenes being presented from the mirrored perspective of what we previously saw. When looking at this picture, peopl eon reddit pointed out that she is definitely on a solo journey now and that the flashes we see of her by herself interlaced with scenes where she is with William is an illustration of her retracing these steps that she took with William. When MiB drags her into the barn he tells her he wants her to fight. What does that mean? Does it mean that he wants her to start this journey again? Someone offered this crazy thought... "I've been thinking the bandit was in the present and it was only deceptive editing that made us think her running into William and Logan came chronologically after that scene. But what if the bandit happened in the first timeline and drove her to William and Logan, but the two timelines theory is still true? What if the most recent MiB scene was that scene and everything else we see him in is leading up to that? What if Dolores killed the MiB in that barn and went off loop the second time, repeating her journey to the maze?"
From that pic they showed in the episode, at a glance, I thought they looked alike. Honestly though, that was me just adding additional reasons I thought it was obvious that Bernard was a host. It was mostly the way Ford and Bernard interacted, among other little signs that are hard to pin down. And yes, I thought it was painfully obvious at the time.
Knowing what we know now this scene has so much more meaning. Specifically the part about meeting your maker and how Ford looks at Bernard and then when Abernathy stresses revenge on you, BOTH. I also love the part where Abernathy says, "you don't know where you are, do you? You are in a prison of your own sins."
I thought they wanted us to think it so badly that I decided not to buy it. But they still drove it home very well with the double whammy of revealing that Bernard was a host while also having him become the first host we've seen to actually kill a human. Granted it wasn't his decision and if the two timelines theory pans out we're likely to see a host kill someone prior to this but it's the first time we've seen it. That's something these kinds of shows have to do now. They have to expect their viewers to figure out what they're doing then hit us with something else at the same time to have its desired effect. Lesser shows (ie. The Walking Dead) think their viewers won't see something coming (Dumpstergate) and when it does come most of the viewers are like, alright, there's that, now what? And the show has nothing else to give them.
Caught up on the show last night and the thread today. Incredible so far. Great music, cinematography, and storytelling. Cast is amazing really. Enjoying the thread a lot too. Thanks to NYGator for bringing all this info over that I would undoubtedly be too lazy to find for myself. Also shootout to TLAU for the multiple headaches incurred while trying to follow what he was saying.
joy saying she wanted tangerine clementine kumquat to "kill everyone" to me is setting up what obviously will happen.
This is a headache to think about But to the Bolded part, yes that is a crazy thought because MiB is very much still alive in the present due to his conversation with Ford and interaction with Teddy in Ford's NEW narrative that includes Wyatt
so backtracking here in my mind we know Bernard tells Dolores to go after the maze, and he has those secret visits with her now we know that Bernard is a host and is controlled by Ford so is Ford sending her in there to beat the man in black to the maze?
the theories are: it is after the fact and bernard is trying to start a coup OR it is before everything and "bernard" is actually arnold
No, eye color is everything when I'm trying to prove something to myself. And I guess William got that mole fixed. Could've been malignant.
mostly i just think the people who make the show are too invested to give away their biggest reveal of the season with eye color.
Both actors have same color eyes. Proves nothing. Would be revealing if one had colored contacts. Anyhow, I'm done talking about eye color.
I want to know where the dialogue between Bernard and Dolores fits in from the first episode. When does he tell her that her reality isn't real and she's there for the newcomers amusement?
Bernard is definitely "different" than the other hosts. Perhaps an advancement that ford made but refuses to let become part of the IP portfolio for obvious reasons. Seems the board wants to make soldiers or in-home robots more affordable for humanity. Would obviously be very interested in Bernard.
We sit here and get annoyed with the thought of Dolores dropping that can everyday for 30 years, but in reality it's the saddest part of the whole story. She has been the most tortured Host of them all, witnessing her parents die and she gets rapes or murdered...for 30 years. This is my prediction for the final scene, maybe this season if not the series, and that's Dolores waking up in her bed, walking out to her porch greeting her father, she looks into the distance...cut to black.
Although that could be cool, I remember reading something from one of the actors saying they don't have any cliff hangers in the finale. That sounds a little bold to say any, but I bet they tie most things up. They said that they answer all the questions though.
