Once the hosts wake up I don't think love will be all that important.
Why would an MIB that is William be trying to free the hosts if not for love?
It's the only thing in the park he hasn't done? He said he's read every page but the last.
I doubt that refers to being able to be loved by a robot considering the dozens of other things he could be referring to but yeah, i guess so.
It's not so much that they can lie to guests, she says something about how "they can lie to us." RoboRobert lies to Ford about the dog but admits he lied immediately in analysis. Dolores lied to Ford in analysis mode. I believe that's what Elsie was talking about being possible in those first generation hosts.
I'm doubting at all that Dolores was even in Analysis anymore during that conversation
Point of that was that Elsie said their primary programming is being changed. I'd assume that includes them being programmed not to see certain things, which was the original question
I am not averse to believing Logan=MiB. I really haven't thought it through enough, BUT continue towards? They are not currently together and how exactly does Logan find them?
To add to that, I think the video I posted of Abernathy supports what you are saying.
Two timelines probably.
Just received this email from Delos...

after rewatching i'm definitely feeling the bernarnoldbot vibe
This is what I pay for NYGator !
but really thanks for posting that stuff
So this has been Dolores' life for 30+ years?
I love the constant "were you Bernard?" question in multiple episodes to see if he was there back in the day...like a test.
Yep. Not sure if I posted this thought or not but I wouldn't be surprised if the picture of Ford, his father and _____________ is a test for Bernard that Ford shows him often much like the pictures Hector was shown at the end of his diagnostics.
I dunno but the previews show them together.
Still love it..
Ford had programmed them like that to begin with though.
Like in Teresa's cabin, Bernard asked "what door?" Yet Ford had brought him to that cabin previously. But yes they could have been adjusted to not see/react to other things, or people, certainly.
Looks like a little girl. Maybe the Mexican girl from the village?
This is my biggest plot hole right now. If William=MIB, what on earth has he been doing for 30 years? If William-Dolores find the maze/Arnold what is keeping William at it for another 30 years by himself? If William-Dolores don't end up finding anything why are we following their storyline so intently?
"a fiction, which like all great stories, is rooted in truth"
I don't like waking up and this thread not being bumped. This isn't important, but when Ford and Theresa are at lunch and he pauses the hosts he says that he almost always finds a way to solve things with the board. I forget the actual line but it was a nice, early reference to him killing people the board sends him.
Looks like Ford's new storyline is by the ocean.
That's where Dolores wants to go... CRAZY
Hope nothing happens to cause some kind of FLOOD that involves Teddy
I apologize if this has already been discussed, but it seems clear that Bernard and Arnold are the same person, as "Bernard Lowe" is an anagram for "Arnold Weber".
has been discussed but i thought everyone was on the same page that this is just a speculation on appearance and nothing deeper than that, yes?
Do any Bernardold people out there think that he "is arnold" in any other sense than his appearance? If so, I would be interested to hear your rationale on damn near everything... but two scenes in particular: Bernard talking to Ford about "who is arnold" in his office in ~ep2/3 and the original cabin scene with Ford's Family
It could be a test, or cue. Anytime Ford asked about Bernard's son, he walked away. Like a voice command for him to leave. Or he's sadistic and he's fucking with Bernard by taking about himself to himself.
yea but if Bernardold has no idea who Arnold is or what Arnold's philosophies are, then how can he BE Arnold in any sense other than appearance? How could he "Make an Arnold clone" that apparently doesn't have the knowledge, ideas, etc. that the real Arnold had?
That's what I'm asking the Barnardold people. IF you think that it's more than just "Ford created Bernard to look like Arnold" - then what other aspects of Arnold's being do you theorize that he possesses?
IE - If he made a legit Bernardold with all philosophies and shit intact - then even if he was "programmed not to know who Arnold is" He would have still known other things they talked about in the Ford's office conversation, like the bicameral mind, pyramid of self-awareness, etc. Saying "He was programmed not to know that either" would essentially be agreeing that it's a likeness in appearance and nothing else
My apologies. I meant that Bernard was created by Ford out of Arnold's likeness. I don't actually think Bernard and Arnold are same person.
He's a host, he could have every personality trait of Arnold, but no memory of him.
I don't think he is, or even needs to be, an exact match of Arnold though.
soooo has reddit come up with a good theory yet on the tarot scene where she sees herself and then peels her forearm?
I rewatched the 1st episode tonight and noticed something intriguing.
When Dolores' dad shows her the picture he discovers and asks if she has ever seen anything like it, Dolores responds with the same line as Bernard when he sees his own blueprint.
I think she was in the picture and couldn't see it.
fun asking aeden what the maze is...
HELLO! IT'S SO NICE TO MEET YOU. WHAT QUESTIONS CAN I ANSWER ABOUT WESTWORLD?
WHATS THE MAZE
In some circles, the maze is rumored to be the sum of a man’s life. At its center lies a man who has been killed over and over—only to come back to life. To keep out his oppressors, he built the maze.
At Westworld, we guarantee to satiate your every wish. No sexual desire is too sinful or twisted, and we offer complete discretion.
Our hosts don’t kiss and tell, but you can. Want to know more?
HOW DO WEAPONS WORK
Westworld wouldn’t be as thrilling if the guns weren’t loaded. Humans can be shot, but you are under no serious risk of injury or death; our guns feature low-velocity technology which feels closer to paintballs than bullets. You will either get better at ducking or grow accustomed to the impact. What else would you like to know abou
I think if he's Arnold he's just Arnold in terms of appearance, personality traits and then probably his backstory. In episode 3 when Bernard and Ford talk about Arnold in Ford's office he explains that Arnold's personal life was "marked with tragedy" (maybe the death of a child?) and that "he put all his hopes into his work." He was consumed by the goal of achieving consciousness in the hosts, barely spoke to anyone except for the hosts, etc., etc. Pretty similar to what we've seen from Bernard. But he's under Ford's control. I think dump said something about it within the last few pages... if Bernard is a host version of Arnold he's probably a recreation Ford made so he could have Arnold do anything he commanded because he and Arnold had some kind of falling out before Arnold's death.
Episode 8 media guide description
"Teddy is disturbed by painful memories; Maeve hopes for a change in her script; Dolores has trouble separating her dreams from reality; Bernard is ordered to return to business as usual; the Man in Black looks to the past to explain the present."
Not sure if we get clarity on a few things, or it will be more setup for a later reveal.
Some may want that spoilered
Interesting theory about Delos being behind Maeve's awakening. I can't wait to find out what this quote is about too.
I want one of those tablets
William totally choked dude out while she was getting water
minotaur before the maze
That was the first host that William encountered right? The one MIB said "It's you" to.
yeah, basically confirmed the two timelines thing.
This episode has me all fucked up. I don't even know what to say.
What the fuck
MiBs face at the end said it all
If any episode needed a rewatch, it's this one
Who was Bernard choking
God damn it
The whole who is controlling who and why rabbit hole on like 5 levels
I love this show
