i like many things, i just think it's pointless to comment about things that i don't have a strong enough opinion about.
Listening to the last Enslaved while I package up cd shipments. Why does this band have such a rabid fan base? Last album I paid any attention to was Monumension about 15 years ago, remember it sucking so bad I wrote the band off. Their first 4 albums were good but their base seems to like the direction they took after 2000 and I just don't get it.
Big fan of Enslaved. Stopped thinking of it as black metal long ago. Pretty unique sound, in my opinion.
Exactly what I was thinking to myself last night while listening to that first 10 minute song, "sounds like Opeth had they not gone 70's prog and Akerfeldt's voice went the way of Chris Barnes."
I don't really see the Opeth comparison. I guess Enslaved started with raw Norwegian black metal and added prog elements. Opeth started with Swedish death metal and added prog elements, eventually nixing all traces of death metal. Both are great bands, but I think the comparison really stops after "took [x] and added prog elements."
i haven't been in a place where i can listen to music today but i was skeptical about a band that willingly goes with a bad pun like that
Fwiw, I thought it was okay. For my own taste, it was too djenty and kind of seemed like it was making fun of Buckethead with the killswitch stuff. That dude can clearly play, though.
I thought the Between the Buried and Me album was okay. There are some cool parts but their sound is kind of stale for me Plus it's kind of short
Any fans of Inquisition on here? They’re finally coming to Nashville and I’m pretty fucking stoked. Also didn’t know if this had been discussed yet:
Big Inquisition fan. I love their latest album, really good stuff. They remind me of Immortal, in all the best ways. I bought tickets to Watain and Destroyer 666 later this month, going to be great.
Addicted to the new Judas Priest and totally didn't expect to be. Hell of an album. I thoroughly enjoy every track. "Traitor's Gate" is perhaps the best if I had to choose one. Other favorite releases so far this year: Saxon - Thunderbolt Tribulation - Down Below Visigoth - Conqueror's Oath Solstice - White Horse Hill
I've been wanting to listen to Solstice I just can't get excited about Tribulation Started listening to the new Judas Priest last night. So far, so good
new Judas Priest is an awesome album. I was never really that big of a fan but I’ve been listening to it regularly. Another band that I can’t stop listening to right now is Harakiri for the Sky. They have 2 albums 2018/16 vintages that are both amazing: Arson, and III: Trauma. It’s atmospheric black metal with very catchy guitar melodies, and acoustic interludes. Like Drudkh/Agalloch/Isis combined with some Gothenburg melodeath guitar leads over the top. Really well done.

Night Flight Orchestra = un dope In all seriousness, they have potential, but I don't see how anybody can call NFO "Heavy" They honestly remind me of Boston more than anything
