Have been at the hospital since 12:30am. Our twins are only at 31 weeks and they are trying to keep contractions away with steroids and magnesium. Wife was only 1cm dilated when we got here and they weighed at 3lb10oz and 3lb6oz. Every check-in leading up to this showed no signs of prematurity, just "you're writing the book on healthy twins...". This shit has me in shambles.
My wife is at 30 weeks with our twins and started to have cramps last night. Getting nervous since she’s checks all the high risk boxes: type 1 diabetic, first kid was 6.5 weeks early, Twins.
Man, hope she can hold on for a few weeks. I'm sitting here reevaluating if I should have pressured my wife to go on bedrest or even if I drove slower. She works at the hospital here, and they only offer the standard FMLA leave, so she was stubborn on using any PTO before the babies arrived. Just need to realize we have little control in these matters. Both our babies were heads down until the little lady decided she wanted to flip less than 4 days ago.
What up TMB Dads. Been experimenting with having my 8 year old do excecise as punishment. Anyone have thoughts on that? I don’t want to create a negative stigma about exercise, but it seems to fix his attitude quickly and he starts to enjoy the reps half way through. For example: I’ll take Nintendo Switch away for 5 days. He can earn it back by 10 reps subtracts a day of like burpees, sit ups, etc. so basically 50 reps 15 reps in his attitude is awesome again and he’s giggling having fun etc.
Sorry to hear that man I hope that's all she has. I had seizures about twice a month from the age of 2 to 17. If these continue shoot me a message if you've got any questions on dealing with them and really anything about them.
Yeah my fear is/was he’ll get a negative head about exercise. That’s why I give the choice. Lose video game or workout. He picks workout everytime and whines at first then he starts having g fun, etc
My 4 year old has been a huge brat the last 2 months or so. Always whining, argues about everything and is just plain mean. Well this morning she kicked my wife hard enough where my wife will likely have a pretty good bruise on her calf. She got spanked (We rarely do that) and now she said she doesn't want to live with us anymore. She wants to live with my wife's parents. I just laughed when she said that. We also grounded her from gymnastics for 2 weeks which she loves. We never used to have this issue and this is the first time she has hit or kicked us. Lord help me if this is what it is like @ 4. I can't imagine the teen years.
Going through the same thing with our 4 year old now. My wife and I are at our wits end. We don’t know who this child is anymore. She won’t listen, won’t eat, whines and fusses about everything. She won’t share the toys with the 1 year old anymore. Constantly playing to rough with her and hurting her. I just keep telling myself it’s just a phase and she’ll grow out of it. My wife on the other hand is about to have a breakdown.
We transitioned our oldest (2 years 8 months) into a toddler bed Thursday night last week. First night he slept in the bed. Second night he slept on the shag area rug on the floor next to his bed. Third night he slept on a blanket in the tepee tent set up in his bedroom. Last night he started out on the rug again, then at about 3:30 a.m. we wake up to him screaming crying. I go into his room which is pitch dark and I notice he's not on the carpet, but I can hear the crying is coming from the corner where he bed is set up. When I bend down to touch him, I discovered that the bed was empty. Turns out he had crawled under his bed and fell asleep, and then woke up scared and unable to get out. Got a pretty good laugh out of that. However, I spent the rest of the night with him on the rug on floor next to his bed and when I woke up again, he was in his bed (laying with his feet at the headboard). So the joke was--as always-- on me.
I'm glad I'm not alone then. We took a mini vacation last week to the Mall of America and she legitimately had a meltdown where she was screaming at the top of her lungs because we wouldn't let her get her face painted. We found a non-busy entrance and I made her sit on the floor there for a better part of 20 minutes until she chilled out. I did have some lady come up to me and told me that I needed to control my kid. I politely told her to fuck off and mind her own fucking business. She didn't really expect that I don't think and I wish I had a camera on my wife's face when I said it as I usually avoid confrontation.
Lord save us all. Mine just had a meltdown bc I took a crap in my bathroom instead of hers. We will all get through this together and the little ones will not win.
3.5 year old as well. He rotates between being a great kid and a little shit. The last two days he has been an absolute little shit.
Had my first experience this morning with how your kid could wonder off and hurt themselves. 9 month old and she learned how to go up the stairs a couple of weeks ago and now thinks it's the funnest thing in the world. Was getting her breakfast ready this morning in the kitchen and she was playing beside me. However long later it dawned on me that I wasn't hearing sounds and looked down to see she's gone. Quickly realized what might be going on and ran over to the stairs and yep, she's smiling ear-to-ear as she's about 3 steps up. Also to add, we have a baby gate but in the morning I'm bad about closing it cause were only downstairs for a little before we have to rush her off to daycare. Need to get in that habit to close it every time.
Laying in bed with my week old son in between my arms, while reading how 4 year olds are the best. Can't wait for my turn.
We were visiting Taques about a year ago and his place had stairs that my son (then not quite two) really enjoyed climbing. We took our eyes off of him for a few seconds and noticed that we couldn't hear him making any trouble, so I bolted from the next room to the foot of the stairs just in time to see my son fall backwards and basically cartwheel down the stairs. I executed a perfect straight leg slide and caught him safely in my lap as he would have hit the ground head first. Probably my finest hour.
Had one as a rental for about 3 weeks while my current car was in the shop, loved it. I plan on leasing one as soon as my current lease is up.
Make that 3 days in a row... I got a text this morning that when he woke up he was in quite the mood. He tried hitting, spitting on and calling our nanny names. I hate this age.
15 month old son enjoys slapping mommy in the face. He’s fine in the morning, all day with the sitters, and when I get home from work. As soon as mom walks in the door it’s slap city for both of us. My wife is in full on “He hates me mode”.
18 month old has started swinging and was popping my wife on the leg and face some, but he thinks he's playing. I grabbed him and tried to give a stern talk but he doesn't fully understand NO yet and didn't seem like a good example time with a spanking haha
We just had his 15 month check up so we brought it up to the pediatrician. She suggested telling him no and that he hurt mommy/daddy and then setting him down for a minute. We’ve only actually been doing it for a couple of days but so far it’s made no change at all.
Anyone use care.com or something similar to find a sitter? Moving end of this month so we're likely gonna go this route. I want to get a part time nanny of sorts to come for a few hours a day during the week to take some of the load off my wife since she works from home and juggling work and baby is getting to be a bit much. Plan is to start with that so my wife can get comfortable with them and then use them for date nights and whatnot.
Smoke and prayers... If you're not already gray or bald, get ready. The first night my oldest was out by himself he was 10 minutes late getting home. 9pm curfew for junior drivers at that point. Everything possible goes through your head at that point. We both made it though, and he's our shining star with a bachelors in chemical engineering, working and happy.
Inducing my wife tomorrow at 36 weeks. Her blood pressure was extremely high this weekend and they’ve had a hard time bringing it back down. Just hoping all goes well and baby and mom make it through healthy
That's why my daughter was born at 36 weeks because of my gf's BP being in the red. Prayers sent my friend
I have a feeling it is going to be a battle with my wife over names for our 3rd child. Any tips? I'm not caving into something I am not a fan of.
Emme had her 2 month appt. She glared at crying babies and imitated their cries while smiling. She got her shots and cried for about 15 seconds then went back to her chill self. She is 12lbs and 23 1/2 inches now
Became a father at 9:41 last night. 5lbs 4oz. Baby and mom both healthy. Everything that’s happened over the past 12 hours has been completely mind blowing. This is going to be one hell of a ride
Update: Local dealership finally got the black on black SEL Premium 4 motion w/ captains chairs - went and drove it. Despite looking fantastic from the outside I just wasn't a huge fan. the 3.6L V6 felt underpowered, and the interior while absolutely spacious, felt cheap with a lot of plastic. Not what you want in a vehicle at that price point. I may go back for a 2nd drive, but we'll see.
Before we knew the sex we landed on a girls name almost immediately. Think we actually had a back up or 2 we both liked. Boy took awhile. Our individual favorites were either not liked by the other or we decided they were too trendy or whatever. Eventually after what must have ended up being hours of scrolling through sites/apps/etc. she said she sorta liked one that I had thought to myself I liked. The more we thought/talked about it the more we liked it. Found out after the fact that it's the last name of some really distant relatives I had never heard of so there's a cool connection to it. If we have another and it's a boy I imagine it'll be just as long a process as the first time.
My wife has decided she wants to figure out the names of our kids tonight, so that she can order “art” for their room. Pray for me.
We tried to pick names that weren't super trendy but were also different. I have a little brother named Michael, and at one point in school he had like 8 other Michaels in his class. We ended up on Miles for the boy and Cornelia (Nellie) for our girl.
Caught up reading this thread. Funny that our 14 month old is starting to show signs of stubbornness and playing too much (scratching us as she flails her arms), but she'll completely go to pieces if we give her a stern "no!" I'm hoping she'll be easier than a boy in the toddler age and I'll just pay for it in the teenage years, but some of y'all are scaring me.
Mini Boom’s two favorite things right now are 1) Pokémon and 2) Baseball. I told him if he caught five thrown balls in a row, I’d buy him a pack of Pokémon cards. Took a while, but the dude did not give up and finally did it. New deal is 10 in a row, and he’s been begging me all day to go outside (I’m working from home.) Love to see him work so hard and finally get it.
I think I will be fine. My wife is another story. Only people who have ever watched him besides us is family so I know she is nervous how he will do but he did find at orientation yesterday.
