That’s funny because at my boys football practice tonight there was an older fellow who looked 10 months pregnant. My wife said “maybe he has a stomach tumor or something” I had to tell her 75% of the older dudes I work with look just like that.

36 miles this week. Most since January. Christ I've wasted this year.

Tomorrow starts an 18-week marathon training plan though. Time to turn it around.

I think your functionality post marathon is all about your training and what you do to recover. I probably walked a good 7 or 8 miles the day after my marathon due to my wife being a crazy person and being dead set on exploring Arlington National Cemetery before we left DC. All of that movement really pushed through a lot of the lactic acid and I felt fine 3 days post marathon. If I had sat around all day like In wanted to, I probably would've felt like shit for a few days.

Half training starts today. Going to go out and try to do a long run see how my legs are. I think my lungs are going to okay it will just be about were my head is using different muscles than when cycling.

Did a 5.2k swim today. Did ok, a little under 30 minutes per mile, current/tide kept bouncing me way wider than I wanted to be. Was a mass start and didn't want to be kicked a bunch and I have good speed so sprinted the first 100 meters or so, took me a while to get my heart rate back down after that and was feeling terrible for some periods. Hate these young girls that never tire and can keep their speed the whole time.

Think I'm doing 1 more swim this summer, swim/run legs of an Olympic distance tri, and hopefully a half this fall.

I’ve noticed swimming really helps me recover after running/biking. Maybe because it’s low impact and let’s you move around:idk:

I think Iron man pace for the 2 mile swim is 2 1/2 hrs so you did really well with 3 in 90 mins. I’m contemplating an Olympic distance tri next year, I think the swim and bike wouldn’t be too bad, I’m pretty iffy on running a 10k after all of it tho.

I haven't gotten into biking. Swimming/running/lifting is a lot on my plate right now, do have an exercise bike though but kinda ignore it.

I hated it at first, the aggressive position to gain speed, my arms and hands going numb, it was a bitch. I’ve grown to like it more and can see myself doing a lot more of it in the future.

It’s less of a mind fuck for me than running. Seems like I can run and run and never really improve that much at it.

A little over 4 in 45 min. It’s my head that I need to get right. Felt good to be out there but fuck running in this temperature again. Kids are starting school again so I’ll be able to get out in the morning. Hope to break 2 this year.

My usual RocknRoll LA. I think I’ll probably follow the HH novice 2 program. Today I did a guided Peloton 45 min beginner’s marathon training run which was a mix of pace and tempo. Was cool to have a “coach” in my ear. But, honestly this was the epitome of “at least I got out there” run.

Been cramped inside due to wildfires causing awful air quality. Found a day where it wasn't too bad and ran 5. Crazy how much you lose it if you only run a couple times over a couple weeks. Thanks nature. /Northwestern Problems

IDK. I’ve always just used this. Only time I use a training program is when it gets close to my half other than that I just try to get out and run.

My go to is "just trying to stay on this side of the dirt."

I may not get to do a half this fall. Just started really running much again a couple weeks ago, but looking at what races are close and what I have going on family/travel/work-wise this fall may screw me out of doing one. Same for my wife. So now my challenge is to keep at it like I still have a race to prepare for. That can be a great motivator.

About how long should I take to return to full speed after giving blood? I gave a pint three weeks ago, and I did 15 miles in just under 2:10 (last month I was at 1:58 after 15 with enough in the tank for more than three more miles). Granted, weather conditions were a factor as well (temps rising through the 70s, muggy) but I have 2 months before my first marathon and I was hoping to break 3:30.

Rising through the 70s, that must be nice. Was monsoon season in DC for a bit and now every time I wanna run it's 90 with humidity, the freezing cold shower after is pretty glorious though.

Finally went for all 6 miles in my training for my 10k...did it in 61:00. Gonna have to cut some time off in the next 6 weeks but definitely doable to reach my goal in under 60.

Doing the swim/run parts of nations which is like 3 weeks away, think it's 1.5 mile swim and a 10k. Been slacking on my running recently, gonna see where I'm at tomorrow.

I did run a 9 minute mile on the curve treadmill this week. Says I burned over 270 calories in that time, not sure how accurate or safe it is to burn 270 calories in 9 minutes.

My mom lives about 9 miles away and has a pond, decided to ride there on my road bike, swim 500m, and ride back. I went from about 19 mph there to about 17 mph on the way back. The swim was pretty shitty too, spend about half of it backstroking.

It’s expensive but worth it. I pair it with some true wireless headphones. Just went on a run and i felt so “light”. Also not worrying about dropping your phone on at the gym is also cool. Most good watches are going to run you a couple hundred anyway so it’s not that much more.

If you have never done one you need to. That had to be the most fun I have ever had in my life.

30 hours of sleep deprived exhaustion punchy humor, oh and some running.

If you want a running watch I highly suggest not getting an Apple watch. If you want a watch that also has running stuff then the Apple watch is cool.

Garmin 235 is a great entry level watch that has everything you need.

Explain? I don’t mean that to sound confrontational.

I don’t run as much as many of you do but it has done everything I need. It’s also kind of puts my mind at easy knowing that I can send a text or make a call if something happens while on a run or ride. The only thing that could be better is battery life but it is more than enough for my length of runs.

The interface is not very "runner" friendly if you are doing intervals or anything where you need to stop/start more than once. It also has limited information such as cadence, left/right balance etc. Mostly though, its just the screen size and doing anything with it mid run. Battery life is also bad like you mentioned.

But it's a way better day to day watch than all the Garmin's so I get why someone would get it.
