Parkman is a cop, so of course that was his response. He made sure to throw out a weed and hoes comment because a black guy is involved.
Imagine thinking there isn’t any type of general weirdness in this whole situation The dude voluntarily had a noose around his neck for 45 minutes. He didn’t tell cops about the maga thing until the next day. There was a report that someone claimed he got beat up and had broken ribs... no broken ribs. He walked by security at the building and didn’t say a thing.
Who said it isn't a weird situation? Imagine posting a pic of a black gay man with a fuck Trump shirt and thinking you came to some grand conclusion. Of course he hates Trump.
Imagine repeatedly calling him black gay man instead of just a person and imagine repeatedly assuming his opinions
lol, what? Is the supposed to be a gotcha? My god you are an idiot. Go back to making threads about roy
For the record, I brought up weed and hoes because I was thinking off the top of my head of reasons a male actor wouldn't want cops looking at his phone. But all my fellow civil libertarians make a good point, like I did too: there's no reason to give private info to a cop they don't need.
This is new info I had not heard. Apparently, Smollett is off-camera for about 1 minute when he re-appears wearing the noose.
I get this type of argument coming from a trumptard. But it’s a poor argument for a democrat not to trust to the government.
No, I think the fact that Matthew Shepard was beaten to death made it pretty clear that he was beaten to death.
Yes you really nailed your point about Democrats who as we all know are notable pro-police advocates who don’t claim to have any issues with systemic racial bias in the policing of our communities
Interesting attempt to argue your way out of this. I point out that Democrats believe the government exists to solve problems. Your rebuttal consists of confirming that you don't trust the government to solve problems.
You’re being a real fucking idiot again. Just because Democrats generally believe in the ideal that the government should exist to solve problems doesn’t mean that they also don’t believe in civil liberties or that they can’t recognize issues of corruption and bias in the current system of government that need to be fixed. These things are not mutually exclusive.
I'm sorry you felt the need to explain this. I decided it wasn't worth it because Watson is so fucking dumb.
And before we get the played out “you’re just calling me an idiot because you know I’m right” argument I think it’s time we all just be objective and consider that it’s quite possible you are in fact a fucking idiot sometimes.
Maybe instead of getting so defensive you should use this as an opportunity to be introspective and reevaluate your beliefs. You're arguing that society shouldn't work with the police to solve hate crimes. And you're calling me an idiot...
So far my posting history has shown I tend to end up on the right side of arguments. I'd say it's more than just a coincidence.
What if they need that info to solve the case by proving he is lying (if he is in fact lying)? Is it possible to only give the cops a portion of your phone records? Show a single call made or received in a specific time period? Or is it an all or nothing thing, you either give them access to all of your phone records, or you deny them access to everything?
No idea how any of that works. I would imagine if they really wanted that info they could get it but I'm no "law talking guy" as Lionel Hutz would say. That Chicago reporter said that the cops announced they weren't going to pursue the records on their own.
If they really felt it was important to solving the case I’m sure they could just write a warrant for them, but besides confirming the victims story I don’t see the importance in viewing his phone records in terms of catching the 2 suspects
I’m not down with handing over any records, but I don’t understand what’s being requested here. Would the police have a call log? Would they have audio from calls? I believe the situation is that the victim was on the phone with his manager when the attack happened. If that’s the case, seems like whatever records available are relevant to the investigation
What are “phone records?” List of calls made with recipient numbers, GPS, and durations? Actual audio?
That's what I think seems most obvious. If they can pinpoint the exact time they are looking for on these CCTV cameras, it may help the investigation. However, if there is some tomfoolery happening here, and they were not on the phone with eachother, that would become immediately obvious by looking at their phone records. If they also have a 1 minute window in which they think the attack happened, and they do not have any calls made or received to eachother, or active during that time, it again calls into question the story being told. But also, if he was on the phone, the audio from that phone call might reveal some information. Is there any way to pull audio?? I'm guessing not, unless you want to break into the FBI's underground bunker that records all phone calls
So just to clarify... At best a b-list gay celebrity was jumped because he was immediately recognized as gay by two bigots that just happened to have a noose and a bottle of bleach at 2 am in downtown Chicago when it was 10 below zero and started chanting “MAGA country!!!” as they beat him. Did I get all that right? Oh and you guys 100% believe that story with no skepticism? Remember when those catholic kids surrounded the elderly Native American way back when? It’s like you guys never learn.
no, you don't have it right. At best b-list gay black celebrity has been harassed repeatedly, and sent threatening letters and a white powder. He is then jumped in downtown Chicago at 2am when it was -10 by, presumably, the same people or the members of the same group that has been harassing him. They had planned this, so they had the MAGA hats, bleach, and noose all ready to go.
Wow that’s quite conspiracy. Can’t wait to see all the proof, of which there should be plenty given all the accusations. Too bad the cameras have caught none of this despite downtown Chicago being the most videotaped area of the country.
So far they have video of 2 guys across the street from the location of the attack, and 1 minute later have video of the gay black b-list star entering his hotel with a noose around his neck. The police also located a woman who lives in the same building who said she saw a "suspicious man" near he front of the hotel, with what appeared to be a rope, as well as another man in the vicinity of the building.
