Finding out what gender our third kid is this evening. We have two boys- 2.5 & 1. I love the boys, but I’m kind of hoping for a girl. Though three boys three years apart would be fun too. Shits about to get wild at the ole duke house.
Moment of truth, flying solo with the seven month old today. Gonna come back with a pre-chilled cooler full of milk.
no it’s for one and I live in the Silicon Valley that’s just the going rate here and usually there is an waitlist and deposit we gotta put down , we have no family here either so it’s our only option
Okay yeah, I was going to say unless you live in one of the most expensive places in the country then that is way outrageous unless the ratio is like 2 infants to 1 teacher.
Waitlist is pretty common. We started calling around about halfway through the pregnancy. My work has a daycare at the HQ location and I think you have to get on the waitlist as soon as you find out you’re pregnant — and they still charge you.
Good luck man. Sounds like you may have done a slightly different test than us, but my understanding is the early trimester non-amnio tests return a lot of false positives. Hopefully the screener was just too sensitive.
LadyPokes was coming off 7yrs of IUD and a year of nuvaring, first couple months were really irregular, but around 4-5 months her cycle normalized and it happened fairly quickly. Dunno if it mattered or not, but we went about a month trying unassisted and then bought a pack of those ovulation strips. When the strips indicated a good window, we got pregnant in one shot.
Name P. Redacted why is your wife gone for an entire month again? She's military right, so is she going on some kind of deployment related thing?
As much as we were depressed and struggling our first year with our daughter I couldn't imagine being away from her that long. There was a two week stretch where my wife and kid were with her mom in California and man I was mush by the time they came back home.
It’s about a 4.7% error rate on the combination of our screenings. They can diagnose after the amniocentesis which they won’t do until week 15. The nuchal fold screen could also be a heart defect. Our daughter had a VSD (hole between two chambers of her heart) which closed naturally as the heart grew. However, the screens as a whole suggest it’s most likely Down Syndrome.
It’s definitely been hard for her. Fortunately (and unfortunately) it seems like they keep her pretty busy so she basically works then goes to sleep. My wife is a champ.
Daughter turns 7 today...can’t believe I’ve been on this board that long. what’s up ~ taylor ~ I know our kid was born around the same time.
anyone coached youth baseball - 6 year olds? My sons league needs another coach. I helped out a lot last year just not sure how to plan out practices and keep the kids engaged at such a young age.
That is how I feel about the not quite 2 year old right now. She goes back and forth between super sweet and loving to a crabby, demanding mess. She is going to throw some tantrums. Update: She went to bed before 6:30pm and it was the least fussy she was all night. Apparently she was just really tired.
It's so weird how groupings of sex happen. Seems like most of the parents we know have girls, when we were visiting the hospital on a tour where my wife would wind up delivering I think 10 out of 11 or something women were pregnant with girls.
Kid came home with his nose worse than when he left. He was scratching at it all weekend at his dads. Wife was not happy when I explained that the dog bit him. Hopefully he learned his lesson not to tease her with food. Can’t have that happen again.
we have a 20 month old girl and now 17 weeks pregnant with a boy. before we had our daughter I wanted a boy so damn bad but was actually pulling for a girl this time around. We were completely shocked to find out it was a boy. Now im stressing about how ill handle a boy. excited but anxious
my 1yo is in the process of getting a bunch of teeth in all at once and we just took her off formula/bottle. This fucking sucks. Never had issues with the others.
i've been very fortunate that my wife has found a lot of joy and energy from a mom's workout group, and that certainly reaps rewards for me that said, she just got done breastfeeding kid #2, and is pretty disappointed/depressed in what her mom boobs look like. has anyone found some delayed 'bounce-back' time for your wife? I can't imagine they'll be like this forever, I try to cheer her up, but frankly I don't care either way, I'm just glad I get to enjoy them some now that they aren't off-limits for breastfeeding lol. Just curious if there is anything I can tell her to give her hope? I told her we can do whatever she would like to fix them if she wants, but I'm plenty good and happy as is.
First wife , never bounced back 2nd wife .. never bounced back 3rd wife .. got augmentation after was nice.
we just have a tentative plan to get her tits done once we are for sure done having kids. There are obviously some financial goals we want to hit before we even consider it, but it's gonna happen.
Went to take a piss with my son at my FILs work. He the. Proceeded to walk through the entire office of woman asking loudly why I had hair on my wee wee. guess 4yo is to old to pee in front of.
As some of you know I'm actually the step grandfather of the 6 year old boy we are raising. Feel like Marbles can relate to this (maybe we outta start a 'stepfather's thread) Back in December little guy got sick so we had to cancel his birthday party, his mom was planning on being there for it and supposedly bringing a fucking 4 wheeler she (read her boyfriend of the month) bought for him for birthday/ Christmas. That would have been the second time she has seen him since the last court order in Oct 2018. Well last week she texted my wife asking if she could come see him this weekend to being gift, etc. Wife reluctantly agreed. Today my wife gets a text from mom that she was in a car wreck today and therefore wont be able to make it this weekend. That's it, no details nothing Amazing coincidence
Took the 20-month-old to see a speech therapist yesterday to see if he needs speech therapy. Knew he would probably need it because he would only say words/consonants when prompted. The speech therapist says that he needs therapy, which I am perfectly fine with. I had to take speech therapy in second and third grade and felt really embarrassed by it. The therapist even said, the earlier he starts, the better. The wife isn't too happy about it, thinks that maybe she did something wrong during the pregnancy. Just have to reassure her that she didn't. He is healthy otherwise, walks, jumps, runs and climbs just fine. Anyone else here have their little one go through speech therapy?
Welp two red sores popped up on my son's chin yesterday and don't seem to be getting any better. He's going to the doctor at 4:00 but we are assuming it's hand/foot/mouth.
Some kids in my daughter's specific daycare class got HFM and somehow she didn't. Seems like everyone here has said it's a miserable experience for all involved, really hope he doesn't have it.
My wife was a kindergarten teacher for 8 years before we had kids. She worked with speech therapists and pathologists all the time. If they start early, they usually don’t require it by kindergarten. There were plenty of children she had from parents who truly cared and were affluent that didn’t realize their child even needed speech therapy. Tell her not to worry and it’s nothing she did wrong.
Thanks. he doesn't have any other symptoms and it hasn't spread at all so I'm hoping they are just bug bites or something. His cousin has a birthday party tomorrow and he has been excited about it all week. It would be a huge bummer for him to miss it.
“Hand foot and mouth disease” has got to be the dumbest disease name of all time. What brainiac fell asleep at the wheel on the day it was time to come up with that zinger?
it's actually incredibly straightforward since it affects the hands, feet, and mouth in a specific way. better than naming it after whatever white male first diagnosed it.
My almost three year old is in speech and has been since around 18 months. At this point he’s pretty close to where he should be. We keep going because it’s learning from someone other than mom/dad/grandparents, and it socializes him. It’s nothing to be ashamed of or concerned about. His therapist is great and he really enjoys his time there. It’ll never be something you remember doing unless the subject comes up. Feel free to PM if you want more info or have any other questions.
