New Soccer Mommy out today. I miss some of the "rough around the edges" aesthetic that Clean had, but my goodness, Color Theory is wonderful.
Yeah was blown away when I saw their discog on red, ended up just mass downloading with the abundance of tokens they've thrown out
Yeah think that’s just kind of you play rockish music, that’s not metal or grunge, in 90s and youre dumped in Indie land.
I can't fully get into Tame Impala. I've tried. I don't know what it is. They put on a pretty good show. Saw them Roo '16 late night. Will see them headline Roo this year to close the fest. I just can't get their complete vibe. /Hottake
always thought Elephant was one of their more boring offers from the first two albums, outside of the sweet little synth breakdown
I think I would like Tame Impala more if their (or his, really) songs didn't all sound so samey. The music is generally good and well-produced, but if you've heard one song, you've heard them all. Sort of the AC/DC of psychedelic pop.
Saw Strand of Oaks at a festival today, fucking love them. Believe I’ve mentioned it in here before but the lead singer was living homeless where I was born in PA. Always felt a special kinship over that.
That's pretty cool, didn't know that. I've been to Roo once and they were a random pick to attend during early hours. Fantastic performers. I haven't loved their studio work but I would see them again in an instant.
downloaded this The Guru Guru album after seeing them split a nice live cover song with my people from Brutus and I was not disappointed, looks like they just released a new one last month to dig into as well
I feel like this song would be a lot better if it was shorten down to 4-5 minutes by cutting each different segment in half.
I know hes been mentioned in the past and their are a number of hoops fans in the thread, but the new kevin krauter album is solid. (I was kind of eh on his first one)
I got invited to go see Silversun Pickups this Thursday. Always kind of liked them, but never went out of my way to seek them out. Curious to see how they are live. It is surprising how many good songs they do have that I am familiar with. Also getting tix for Car Seat Headrest and Starfucker this week.
Are any of these shows worth attending. I like all these bands, but don't have any feel for how they can be live... Best Coast Tennis Soccer Mommy Caribou Bright Eyes M. Ward Delta Spirit Torres Archers of Loaf Angel Olsen/Mount Eerie/Eleanor Friedberger Big Thief
Soccer Mommy and Big Thief are absolutely worth seeing. I saw Bright Eyes at a festival years back. They were fine, wouldn't necessarily judge them one way or another based on the setting. Enjoyable enough.
I saw them open for Modest Mouse or maybe The National about 6 years ago or so. They were so so. I do really like the new album though.
angel olsen, big thief, bright eyes are a big yes from joe. tennis pivoted in more of an R&B direction but their shows are fun. delta spirit and M ward could be fun for nostalgic purposes
What does this mean? I’m trying to see her in a few weeks and am having to convince friends to go, so I can use any ammo I can find.
She's a 22 year old female so presumably her audience is of a similar demographic. Of course this is the indie thread so I'm gonna have to label such crude references to "talent" gross.

Have listened to The Main Thing a ton this week and it's really grown on me. I think I love it now You and November are some super sweet songs to have back to back
