Same here we did the sensitive formula and added the probiotic to it, didn’t cure it but definitely helped......then he just kinda grew out of it around 4 months
We defaulted to lactose free by accident, then fed her regular milk before bed one night. HUGE MISTAKE
He won't sleep more than like an hour in his bassinet. And even that hour is interrupted usually with a few sessions of fussiness. I website I found had like 4 signs of colic and everyone fits him exactly. He will cry bloody murder for no reason (has ate and a clean diaper), he pulls his legs and arms in towards his body all the time, he is always flailing around, he furrows his brow a lot, he goes through diapers really quick and passes a lot of gas, and when he gets hungry he frantically will flail his head around looking for a nipple, and then will reject breastfeeding. He will actually sleep better if he is laying on his belly on top of you. I dont want him learning to only sleep while on top of me, but for sanity sake sometimes it's the only way to calm him down. Colic babies runs in both of our families, also a few babies in our family have had lactose problems. Breastfeeding has been such an unpleasant experience so far for my wife, he fights it and throws fits before sometimes eating a little bit. He gets supplemented with formula too because he isn't getting enough milk in breastfeeding. My wife is calling the pediatrician today to see if she should try an easy digestion formula or something to see if it helps
Seven weeks out from my little girl arriving. Getting nervous and excited. I’m sure my wife will get frustrated as she he raised an infant before where this will be my first.
My girls are growing up and today I had one of those moments that one of these times, it’s going to be the last time I pick her up to hold her in my arms.
So tonight was a lot of fun. I was in the shower and both kids were in bed. All of a sudden my 7 year old daughter starts banging on the bathroom door screaming. I hop out of the shower fast, throw a towel on quick and open the door. There stands my son with blood all over himself. Also all over the carpet and his white superhero bedspread. It looked like someone was murdered. Finally got it out of him that he picked his nose and that was the result. Took like an hr to get the blood out of the carpet. Tip....cold water with dawn dish soap can make blood stains disappear if you get it fast enough.
I used to send this to my wife just to fuck with her. Now that my older one is almost six and a pretty big dude, I think about it all the time.
My (almost) two year old asked me how my day was today when I came to dinner. Melted my heart. Spoiler my day was awful but I told him it was great
Levi’s favorite thing to do right now is to put is tongue barely hanging out of his mouth with his lips closed around it and blow spit bubbles. I can’t get enough of it
I pick up my 3 year old every day from daycare. My wife for some reason doesn't like doing pickups, just drop off, which is fine with me cause it's the best part of my day. From her walking out super excited to see me, to the drive home, it doesn't get better. She says some of the funniest things on that drive. On the drive home yesterday I yawned: her: daddy you tired? me: yea baby, daddies a little tired. her: me too, I'm a little tired, but I'm not big tired yet. Not the funniest exchange we've had but I was cracking up her describing it as "big tired".
Picked up my almost 6 yo today due to the post from last night. Him: What are you doing, dad? I am too big for this. Me: And the cats in the cradle and the silver spoon...
I also do pickup for my almost 3 year old. He's always excited to see me and get in the car. From their it can go in so many different directions.
Alright so after a trip to the pediatric neurologist and multiple scans/blood tests etc. Our doctor is fairly confident that my daughter had what they call a "cyanotic breath holding spell". I had never heard of it but there's plenty of info online about it if you're interested. Basically when a child is startled or upset, an involuntary reflux can cause them to pass out and possibly have a seizure. We had woken her up early to get her up for her brother's surgery, and she was upset just prior to passing out. So basically the sudden jolt of waking up early triggered a breath holding spell, which caused a seizure. Never waking her up again. Also it is common for kids that are deficient in iron to be more prone to these. Sure enough, her blood test indicated she was on the cusp of being anemic. So now we are starting iron supplements for the foreseeable future. It's good to know that this is a very easy and treatable thing. Also the seizure won't have any negative long term effects. Although she could have one again. At least next time we will be prepared.
My 5 yo found a cock ring in our bedroom nightstand. She came out into the living room wearing it like a bracelet (it’s pink). Told her to go wash her hands.
Being able to hold your breath to have a seizure is such a power move. forgot to do homework? Boom seizure
I have a 1.5 year old daughter and read your original post and said fuck, I can’t imagine. Fast forward to Monday, we had a fever spike to 105 and a seizure with our daughter. Absolutely the scariest moment of my life. We went to the ER, got the temperature under control and got released later that day. I’m told seizures with high fevers are relatively common for children under 5 but nothing can prepare you emotionally for that. Things have returned back to normal by Wednesday but shit. Glad to hear all is well with your kid
Our 3 month old has been in the hospital since Tuesday. My wife thought his breathing seemed abnormal but I didn’t think it was too far off (his normal is abnormal to begin with). She ended bringing him in to the doctor and then I got a call they were going by ambulance to the hospital because the doctor didn’t want her driving with him not being monitored. It’s just a cold but because of some pre-existing conditions any little respiratory stress causes issues. This may push his lung surgery back. I don’t know that it is the magic bullet but I just want to get to the surgery so things can start getting better.
Been almost a year since I've seen 1/3 in person because of *gestures vaguely to everything* which fucking sucks, but we've started playing Among Us together while video calling, and she's old enough to appreciate memes now, so that's good.
we did just basically took veggies or whatever and blended that shit.......then my wife froze them in ice trays he started at about 4 months.......he fucking hated formula and loved solids
It is the first of 3 stages of food that are transitioned to after just milk/formula. That is what my wife called it and sure as shit, you google “stage 1 baby food” and there is info everywhere on stage 1.
Never followed the stages just gave food when we thought they were ready. Started with single ingredient purée and then progressed from there. We made some and store bought some. Did the same ice tray thing as mentioned before. Eventually said fuck that and went 100% store bought.
I made it all. That was how I convinced my wife I needed a vita-mix. Started with the oats, rice, etc mixed in to breast milk or formula. We moved on to avocado, banana, etc. by just crushing with a fork and adding milk/formula as needed for a consistency that our kids could eat. Testing allergens early is important. Only test 1 new food at a time (2-3 days period) so if an issue arises you can isolate it to the new food. I can send a picture later of recommendations if timelines for foods. Yes. You’re steaming, boiling, etc then making a purée. Some will be better but any mediocre one will work.
you and me, we are the same. I am working the exact same angle for the vita-mix Yes, wife has informed me we are doing this to test allergies as her family is chalked full of them. Up first is bananas, which my wife can’t even touch.
