avoided cooking the meal and all the shenanigans that goes with that and for probably only $50 more than she would've spent on a stupid amount of cranberry sauce and pecans at the store (plus covid)
After further review, we’re not doing anything special for Thanksgiving. Not seeing any family. Just spending it alone. Because fuck 2020.
I'm kind of glad that we're probably not going to see a large family gathering this year to avoid the political fights that would inevitably happen.
"Maybe your dumb liberal ass doesn't understand, but Trump lost cuz MILLIONS OF ILLEGAL MUSLIM MEXICANS VOTED! REEEEEEEEEEEEeeee!"
I have family members that legitimately think Trump is this selfless hard-worker who wants the best for America
Me too. that's the hardest thing to fathom. if you're a selfish asshole who benefits from trump and put up with his nonsense as a means to an end, at least own it. I can somewhat deal with that. but don't tell me how great of a leader and business man he is and how he is fighting for you. that's the part that cuts off legit conversation on the topic.
I'm definitely in the same boat. I'm unhappy that we're still confined to our house and not able to celebrate doing anything I normally like to do (spending my days off shooting the shit with random people at a bar) but I'm so happy I can avoid seeing my family in person.
I’m sure my aunt and uncle are Trump voters but they’re just clueless boomers. However my cousin married a Cuban guy from Miami who converted to Judaism. He’s a fire breathing Trump supporter who thinks everyone left of him is a socialist. He also is an Uber Zionist. They live in Ohio and every time Dewine tweets about a mask compliance or urging people to social distance, he replies w “WE WILL NOT COMPLY!” My uncle, his FIL is battling cancer. Idk if they’re getting together this year but i wouldnt be surprised if they do. He was the nicest guy before Trump came up. They didn’t come in town last year and the prior two years he wasn’t so guns blazing MAGA. I’m a masochist but I’m a little disappointed we won’t be doing thanksgiving w them because I’d love to see if this is just a Twitter persona or if he’s actually like this irl now.
So I have one sister and my parents. She works at a hospital, her husband works at a school, and my parents work in government, so everyone is being fairly responsible w/r/t masking up and such. Meanwhile my wife has 2 sisters who have a combined 7 kids between them, most of whom go to daycare. Somehow I'm the asshole for being nervous about seeing her family while being OK with seeing mine this week.
This isn't even a negative - just ridiculous: My mom thought it was a good idea to send my brother (lives in a really upscale area) a massive inflatable turkey with full installation so he was awaken by his wife getting a call from their HOA that multiple complaints had been received and then walked out to a ridiculous turkey in his front yard.
Celemo Family Thanksgiving Predictions: MAGA in-laws will accuse every liberal of being a Communist My wife, who will be on day 3 of a pre-surgery liquid diet, will hate me a little more after every bite of solid food I'll ingest My kids will demand we go right out after dinner and get a Christmas Tree Sober Celemo will resort to solace from TMB
That's not something I'd necessarily put on my yard but it would never even cross my mind to think for a second I could tell someone else they couldn't. It's not like it's a 20 foot monument.
I believe it is your duty as a brother to make sure this goes up on his lawn on the morn of Thanksgiving:
the best thing about a pregnant wife is the ability to get drunk and have her drive. why is your wife sober for a year?
I mean we all say that, then we just take discrete nips off the flasks we have hidden around the house
