I’ve enjoyed almost all original apple shows. Lasso, See, NASA show, Morning Show, Mythic Quest all are good. Really good original content coming from Apple also have like 2 or 3 new shows releasing this fall that look good. Invasion, some war show.
I've been eagerly waiting for it ever since I read up about the book series after the show was announced.
I'm torn between weekly episode drops vs. whole season drops One one hand the weekly drop is great because it gives me something to look forward to. A lot of these series my kids like to watch as well so It's cool we get to spend time together on "Loki Night" or "Ted Lasso Night" etc. On the other hand if I'm watching something by myself, I prefer to binge
I see both sides of the argument, but shows like Lost, GoT, The Leftovers leave so much more open to talk about on a weekly basis, mainly mystery. I love Ted Lasso, but not much in the way of mystery. These threads are usually more about recounting favorite lines or moments from the episode.
The dog getting killed by a PK in a game is the first time throughout the entire series I've thought to myself "that was dumb"
Roy was the MVP of that episode by far. His face when Jamie Tartt showed up on the dating show was absolutely priceless.
A little overtop, but gave us some nice Danny Rojas moments after and was primarily used to introduce the new sports psychologist character. Which seems like could be some great dialogue between her and Lasso.
Wife confirms her Dutch coworker is exactly like that. Apparently walked in one day and went “oh, Keith, you put on a lot of weight!”
My sister lived in Amsterdam for a couple of years and she also said they come across as dicks, so this would make sense.
Been rewatching season 1 too while waiting on new episodes. Show just has so much feel good and Lasso is easily the most like able character on TV I’ve ever watched.
Also can’t imagine anyone but Jason Sudeikis Playing him. After this show I’ll never be able to see him as another character.
I think that was the funniest episode to date. Not the best episode, but the comedy stuff in this episode all landed for me. I'm getting to the point where I'm going to need a Roy spin off down the road because I just need more of him. Every scene he's been in the first two episodes has been amazing.
Every joke landed. Robert Plant-Jimmy Page was just brilliant. And it’s a completely different joke from the equally hilarious “How the fuck did he know I love white orchids?!”
And the George Harrison thing with Jamie at the beginning I had to pause it during the Roy/Keeley bedroom scene I was laughing so hard
I was so scared Keeley was watching Jaimie highlights. When it was the Roy crying speech I melted. They’re also so good at foreshadowing. We knew Roy cried during his speech. We saw that tiny smirk when Jamie left his interview because he regretted the move back to City (can’t blame him, f City) and knew he’d want to go back to Richmond. We learned during the bar scene that Ted’s dad killed himself. What worries me now, Rebecca’s end of the episode smirk at Keeley as she watched Jamie take the field.
During the darts scene he said his dad passed away when he was 16. During his talk at the bar with Jaime, Jaime asked him if his dad was the same as his and Ted says “no, my dad was much harder in himself than he was with me.” Jaime replied “you’re lucky” and you can see Ted almost loses it and wants to correct him but sits his beer down instead.
Great episode. I find it interesting that Ted didn't seem to talk to the team about bringing back Jamie though. But I'm ready for his therapy scene. Rebecca has been great this season too.
Yeah, that was my thought too. Seemed a bit out of character to tell Sam to his face that it's a non-issue and then not say anything and bring him back. I'm enjoying this season so far but I think Season 1 was way better. Roy is the champion of Season 2 so far.
