No idea but honestly no way on this hellish planet would there have been a right or correct way to tell a bunch of families their 5-6 year olds weren’t coming home.
it was already an impossible task, but this went from the fox news 'ignore and obfuscate' folder to their 'aggressive racist immigration rhetoric' folder in RECORD timing.
They’re moving up my list of countries that I’m wanting to immigrate to thanks to their recent election.
We're not going to do anything. After Sandy Hook was the time and we decided as a nation that children being murdered at elementary school was a price we were willing to pay for gun rights. It's never going to change. There is no worse scenario.
Just waiting for Abbott to bring up the need to arm teachers as if that's the fucking solution that will make this all better
The difference is that there was overwhelming political will to do this in that country. Like up to 90%. We will never sniff those numbers here. There are also a huge number of unconfiscated guns there. They frequently will do amnesty turn ins, and there are still out there. Thats not even to mentioned the NRA and money in politics problem. Im a bit black pilled on this. Toothpaste is out of the tube. Not sure how we put it back in
Dead toddlers are an acceptable cost to a well regulated militia. I think back to wishing that softball shooter had better aim and more time.
Is there evidence that it was actually a tree that paralyzed him? Unless there is, I just assume it was something like drunk driving.
So im gonna mention one other thing. Just compare an American police show with british ones. The amount of gun violence that is just normalized in tv is a factor worth mentioning id say.
It'll never happen but I wish Joe had a enough idgaf old man in him to say something like, "It's bullshit this is still happening in this country just like it's bullshit Congress was never able to pass anything after Sandy Hook just like it's bullshit they'll never pass anything after this."
if we can take away the rights of a woman I’m sure we can take away these asinine gun laws and teach the general public that we will still have some collateral damage of those left around for part of the future until the amount of weapons becomes harder and harder to procure. If we have an entire side that thinks we can eliminate every race that isn’t purely white we surely can fucking think, or at least TRY, to do the same with weapons with only one purpose, to kill shit.
Not that it makes a single difference, but it’s good that MSDNC’s coverage is unmitigated anger instead of tip toeing around what needs to be done.
there is a solution to this problem but it involves some highly illegal and hyper targeted campaigns of pranks and jokes against politicians all across this country
I am seriously about to see if my company has positions in Canada. I live in the north, the cold won’t bother me.
I get that, my first response was that feeling of ‘it feels like we can’t do anything.’ But I also feel like we can’t just give up on it. That’s what the GOP, the NRA, every fucking piece of shit with connections to these fucks want.
Australia started theirs in the mid to late 90s if I remember correctly. I was there in 2013 and they were still doing annual gun amnesty periods where you could turn guns in to the police with no questions asked. It's a long, long process but if it stops a few of these events a year (or even one!) then it's well worth it. And they still have some legal guns there! You just have to be a responsible owner, have a legit reason for owning a gun, and also agree to be subject to random visits by authorities to make sure your gun is being kept in a safe place. It's legitimately common sense stuff but our country's gun lobbying groups actively push back against even the most basic common sense legislation.
I don’t know how I feel about that. I guess in the case of Parkland I could see it, but these are preteens. I’m more concerned about those parents, but if they get them on board, plaster them outside every GOP office and do it.
I have never seen a gun in Denmark not on a cop. in 32 years. I’ve sat next to people with guns on their hip in restaurants in SC. It creeps me the fuck out.
Sadly even crime scene photos or videos would still not even move the needle for most of this country.
Watching CNN and Taper just did a 'what about chicago' unprompted and for some reason is interviewing Mike Quigley
