Staying downtown at Monaco for a long weekend with my wife in March and looking to stay within walking distance for dining. Any input on the following would be much appreciated: - Eddie V’s - Bakersfield - Condado - Altius (would drive)
Altius is great and worth it for the view alone. Cc: Taques buy_dont_lease cant speak on the other 3 Eat at gaucho’s drive for fioris pizza
I would add eating at Monterey bay as a nice dinner option with a view. devine ’s post is great though. Also shameless plug for grist house brewery
*Bakersfield and Condado are decent sized Midwest chains at this point. Doesn't mean they aren't fun/good places to eat when you get to one...but, just know you'll have other opportunities at them. *There is no reason you should drive from downtown to Altius/Mt. Washington on a weekend night. Take an Uber ...parking sucks. *Will always recommend La Tavola on Mt. Washington.,. excellent Italian and BYOB *Make a late afternoon/early afternoon reservation for the rooftop at Sienna Mercato via Open Table. Just do it now and build around it later, as they fill up far in advance. It's a great chill/casual rooftop downtown and they are strict with the reservations.
Altius was a great experience. Also Fioris was bangin’. I’d go back to both. Also Wholey’s market in the strip district has some fantastic seafood dips for snacks if you’ve got a fridge at your place.
HotMic I would not schedule anything too early in the day. There's a possibility he might sleep through any planned events.
Had a great time downtown the last couple days, everything was a real easy walk. Yesterday we grabbed a couple Pens tickets for super cheap fifteen minutes before the game started. Had some awesome pastries at La Gourmandine Had a solid breakfast at Waffles INCaffinated. Cappuccino was one of the best I’ve had.
Not sure what south shore is but as far as mt Washington go to Altius for good food and a great view, Bigham Tavern if you want wings/bar food and beers
Altius is closed- someone inexplicably drove a stolen truck into the restaurant. Which, given the location, is just an impressive accomplishment.
Another place I haven’t seen mentioned yet but it’s new. given to fly in federal galley for chicken sandwiches. There’s a bar in there too with local beers
I meant to tell you there was someone wearing a fiori’s 40th anniversary shirt at the state college farmers market this morning
Do you have to pay extra for an old towel and a package of wet wipes or does it come with that messy shit?
We’re staying downtown with the boys for a couple days since they’re on Spring Break this week. We hit the Heinz History Center museum today, and I couldn’t recommend it more. It was outstanding. Pens game tonight.
The Carnegie Natural History Museum has a pretty awesome dinosaur collection if your kids are into that.
Not sure if this is the Pittsburgh adjacent thread, but... I'm getting the food for a family party outside of Washington PA in a few weeks. We had Countryside Deli lined up and they have bailed out. I'm still not sure why, but... Basically I need catering for 30-40 people for a mid-afternoon picnic/dinner/etc. on Sat 7/1. Anyone got a good Washington PA catering rec? I don't mind going to pick it up (and can buy steno stuff and so on at Amazon and have it delivered to family), but obviously if it could be delivered, that would be ideal. Hog Fathers and SpringHouse Market have been suggested. Others? Thoughts?
Just get Ossos pizza Spring House is legit. They make the best chocolate cupcakes. They use their chocolate milk instead of regular milk
I thought about doing them. This is over toward Hickory, so I'm going to call first thing Monday and see if they can deliver (They said they could a few weeks ago). Looked great, was just higher per person and since it's such a random group, I thought I'd do something that was per tray rather than per person. But...that didn't work out well.
If I have to pick up, it's not the end of the world. Osso's is weird as fuck on the menu...pizza only by the slice? So basically you just ask for 8 slices? Not expensive, just weird as hell.
I must not understand. The places I have been to that do such do not sell them whole, just by the slice. Carry on, not trying to be a dick. Just am confused, which is often.
They don't sell whole pies. It's cooked on a giant rectangular baking tray. Then cut into squares. So you order by the slice
