Were those the two guys in the black suits at that point? They also might be in Eliot's head, at least that's what his therapist thinks.
Yeah they were in black suits. They also do look up when Robot asks them for change. But, if they are all in Eliot's head then it would make sense for them to interact.
Then again, it might make sense for the people that Eliot (or his therapist) thinks are imaginary to be real and the people who he thinks are real to be imaginary, at least to an extent.
I watched the scene again. The guys definitely seem annoyed by Mr Robot. Either both are real or both are fake.
Apparently the writer of the show began to write this as a film. Then it got too long and his agent pitched it as a tv series. Re: Daniel Ocean evidence there is no Mr Robot - I hate it. It will have to do something very special for it not to feel like a Fight Club ripoff. The first two eps are great and will keep an open mind, but I hope it finishes as strong as it has started.
I have no problem with fight club ripoff for mr robot just like I had no problem with a Fargo ripoff for Fargo.
That is a terrible analogy/comparison. But if it doesn't bother you, that's good for your viewing experience.
Fargo tv and movie is within the same franchise. I'm not sure that qualifies as a rip off Plus, the plot twist isn't the same in the tv and movie as it seems it will be with FC and Mr Robot. This is going to devolve into a semantics debate so I'll just leave it there. It's nice you're not bothered by it like I am.
All my "evidence " can be explained away. For example him yelling like a nut on the NYC subway? Well having watched numerous fight videos that occur on the subway I can safely say people wouldn't be surprised by someone acting stupid. I watched it with my wife and she usually catches stuff and she didn't in this case. If not for ugafish 's post I wouldn't have even thought about it. I think it is doing a great job at making us wonder.
Your idea that only one entity can use such a device is odd, and I feel bad for you that you are bothered by it. Correct me if wrong, but aren't you the one that hated on breaking bad so much?
I'm not the one you're think of w BB. I loved all of it. As far as the plot device - it's not only that they're using the same thing but presenting it in pretty much the exact same way. I think it would be pretty cool if they're doing this as a red herring - knowing people would draw the same comparisons and use it to do something else.
F-Society is real. The only one who might be in his head is Mr Robot. Not sure why you think FS is all in his mind.
Show is interesting for sure, but I can't be the only one here struggling to give a fuck about any of the characters, can I ?
Didn't the bartender charge Eliot for 2 drinks? Mr. Robot could have refused to pay for his but it looked like he paid for both.
He charged him $12. Assuming they got to the bar together why would the Bartender take Mr Robots order and make his drink prior to asking Eliot what he wanted? You'd assume he'd ask them their orders at the same time. Why look annoyed when Eliot orders the exact drink you just made.
$12 isn't a lot of cash for 1 appletini I'm assuming. But you're dead on, why look annoyed making a drink you already made.
That was a weird hour of TV. Like Mr. Robot's take on Trainspotting w all the dope sick dreams. What are our thoughts of fsociety now? Seems everyone but Mr Robot and the black dude (mobley??) had interactions w other people.
im beginning to agree with christian slater being in his mind, and i hate it other than that it's really good. dialogue isnt clunky, plot is interesting, cinematography is top notch
I liked the previous episodes, but any more episodes like this last one and they are gonna lose me quickly.
They've made it incredibly apparent Mr. Robot is in his head at this point. I think the only question is if at least some of the other people he interacts with are also personalities in his mind.
Hasn't everyone else interacted with at least one other person who has interacted with others. For it to be multiple people who are not real, the whole show would have to be in his mind.
I enjoy an abstract episode every now and then. And obviously his opioid dependence plays a role in all of this.
what about when the black guy wants to leave him b/c he's tired of him holding them back and Mr Robot tells black guy "well then leave"
The conversation is between the fat hacker and the black one. There is some screaming but you can't tell if robot and the black hacker actually talk to one another. Robot yells "well then leave" the BH doesn't respond directly he just says "Fuck this I am leaving ". The only individual we see actually talk to Robot is the lookout at the drug house. We learn/assume later that never happened and it was all in Eliot's head.
Right? Talk about a bait and switch. You're never going to convince me the writers spent the first four episodes purposefully leading intelligent viewers down the rabbit hole Mr. Robot is in Elliot's head. Right now, I'm not sure if I am mad or respect a swerve only meant for viewers who actually analyze what they are watching.
Finally got around to watching the pilot two nights ago. Loved it. Two episodes in, I imagine I'll be caught up by next week. Such a fascinating show. Mr. Robot is in his head is my big point to add, but I'm not reading this thread again until I'm caught up.
I think he could still turn out to be in Elliot's head. Mr Robot and Elliot never interact with people at the same time. Could still be a fight club thing where he thinks he's watching Mr Robot converse with people but it's actually him.
idk man the plot point of cybersecurity what the hell is going on with creepy corporate guy and his bondage loving wife(?) the fincheresque cinematography what did angela upload on that computer for the chinese dark army guys, because it doesnt seem to have anything to do with fsociety
When he was talking Eliot was off to the side like Mr Robot usually is. If this is a Fight Club type thing it could be that at that moment Eliot was seeing himself as "Tyler Durden ".
I'm watching the pilot and at the end of Mr robot talking to Eliot on the subway the guy with ear buds in looks down at Mr. Robot while he's talking
I'll watch it again. I get a big Fight Club vibe. Eliot = Mr. Robot so what we see as people's reactions to Eliot or Robot they are reacting to Eliot.
