it would be exceptionally poor writing for Jon to die, be brought back, and die again. characters written like this usually end up to be invulnerable, this is why you get the frenzied charge in the Battle of the Bastards where he should have died twenty times over and have him find his way out of the bottom of a lake in the frigid cold, so my pick is Jon. Dany has seemed like the pick for so long that swerving it seems only logical and her learning that there is more in life than sitting on a throne would be good. Jon has the most legitimate claim to the throne in the entire series as well and "sullied orphan turns out to be royalty" is an oft-used trope. sleeper pick is Tyrion just because he'd probably be the best at it. I don't think Tyrion dies or even should die. really, I don't see Dany and Jon both dying so it's just likely to be one of them. you get any further down the line than those three and you're headed straight into "holy shit bad writing" territory. the people who made those odds are retarded anyway, in what world is Arya ever sitting on a throne to rule? other thing I could see is there not being a throne at the end. King's Landing will clearly be a battle point, what if the dragon rips a hole open in the throne room and burns the throne down. a dragon melted it to make it, it would be fitting for another dragon to destroy it. if that happens you might just see them go back to being independent kingdoms entirely and then I guess technically nobody sits on the throne.
Went through a season 7 rewatch this weekend. Is it commonly accepted that Tyrion made some kind of deal with Cersei?
I know you are very well versed in the series so I’m curious why you are making a predication about Dany’s endgame based on a scene that was show only? Unless I’m grossly mistaken, Dany doesn't reunite with Drogo or Rhaego at the wall in the books?
No she doesn’t. I don’t think Dany survives the books nor the show. She is Nissa Nissa. She has to die in order for Jon to succeed. And frankly, she’s not really needed anymore if you’re looking from GRRMs standpoint. She’s not the heir to the Targaryen dynasty and there’s already been a queen in training in Westeros all this time in Sansa.
Season 8 episodes confirmed all hour+ in length. I'm betting the last two will probably be close to 3 hours together. It's probably going to be 9ish hours in 6 episodes or close to a full season's length anyway just packed into 6 episodes.
Dany is going to die. She'll probably sacrifice to save someone likely Jon. It's hard to believe with GRRM that the person a lot of people wanted to be Queen of Westeros who has been fighting for it for several books with it being her single purpose is going to end up getting what she wants. She's going to realize there is something in life more important and as a Queen she should do what is best for the people and she'll die in some manner saving Westeros.
they had her mention multiple times that she cant have kids for the first time in 4 seasons foreshadowing her getting knocked up by Jon. That said I'll bet she dies in childbirth mimicking Jon's own birth
I think so, too. Pretty sure there have been statements about how the ending will be "bittersweet," and with the show's track record of killing off beloved characters, well... someone has to die and they're not going to kill Jon Snow off again.
why wouldn't they? it doesn't make sense for him not to die in some heroic way unless they chicken out and pull some harry potter bullshit. The only characters I'm sure won't die are Tyrion and Sansa
They killed him off once and brought him back - it would make no sense to kill him again, especially if he can just be brought back again. Why do you think Tyrion and Sansa are safe?
Jon's whole character arc has painted him as a tragic selfless hero, that trajectory doesn't shouldn't lead him to a happy ending. he gonna die as a tragic selfless hero. Tyrion's and Sansa's whole character arcs have been about how they have grown to survive in a world where they shouldn't have been able to survive
I got through the first 3, I started AFFC but never finished it out. regardless, this is the show thread right? that's how I've seen them through the seasons
Looks like just the regular season 8 spoilers thread to me. And I think it’s pretty obvious with both show and book source material that Jons ‘final’ position is King of Westeros (or whatever’s left of it)
maybe I'm more pessimistic because from what I have seen, I don't see him surviving. I guess we'll see in a few months
Sansa sure seems like she will be the Lady of the North. Dani will only die for two people...Jon and/or her child. The latter being the most obvious imo. Jon rules Westeros (after all he is the rightful heir) where there now exists independent principalities or some shit. Sansa ruling the north, yara the islands, etc.
Yeah that’s basically how I see it ending. I’ll go one step further and say that in the books (they’re never coming out) Jon marries Sansa
Bran is donezo as well. I think the big reveal is that we’ve been seeing is with his ability to time travel and affect the past is that he wargs/becomes every notable Brandon Stark in history, including being Brandon the Builder (who builds the Wall) and Brandon Stark, the Night King
Spoiler: “BrickTamland official GoT endgame prediction do not open if you dont want the finale wReCkEd” Dany and Tyrion arise as victors in their campaign to take back the kingdom. One or both may die, doesn’t really matter, but in the process they establish a rule by democracy and effectively/finally break the wheel.
HBO’s official Twitter account just announced we’ll be getting an official start date for episode one this Sunday. I imagine it will be paired with some form of a teaser as well.
