Harris Teeter brand natural PBs have 2 net carbs per 2 tablespoon serving, which is as low as you can go I beleive. I enjoy them and they are cheap. I like sunflower seeds but wasn't a big fan of the Sunbutter.
There's 1 net carb in about 1/4 cup of those pecans. I put 3 tablespoons of butter in a skillet/pan and melt it with 3 tablespoons of swerve brown sugar a teaspoon or so of cinnamon. Stir it until it comes together. Keep the pan on medium low so it doesn't burn. Toss 1 1/2 cups of pecans halves in the pan, turn the heat to low or off but leave on the burner. Stir them around to coat them well and it will start crystalizing and the nuts will get sticky. That's what she said. Once that happens take them off the heat and spread them out to cool. After they cool for a bit I toss them with a little bit of the regular granulated swerve. So good. The only carbs are in the pecans. Vanilla extract would be a good addition too but haven't tried yet. Sometimes I enjoy the ones that caramelize a little too much but took it easy on the heat on that batch.
Y'all inspired me to make a small batch of pecan butter since I have a shit ton right now. It's much better than I expected. Heated them dry in a pan first to help release the oils. Once it came together in the processor I put a pinch of salt and a few pinches of swerve and spun it again. About 6 oz made that little container and there are 6 net carbs in there.
The boredom. Her first comment was “the food is bland and limited - don’t know if I can do this.” Pretty happy, because the food is merely average.
Well boys, I am coming back. Went from Jan-March pretty strict Keto and lost 23 lbs. Was thinking through diet and exercise I could lose the extra 10 lbs and get to my goal. End of March I was 242 lbs. 3 months later, I weighed in today at 243. Not disciplined enough to keep it going thru diet and exercise. Starting tomorrow for the next month or so to try to knock out these 10 extra lbs. My gym habits have definitely improved and my wife and I welcomed a baby a few weeks ago. Getting out of the house a little bit is a priority for my wife and I. I will get to the gym a lot more this time around, so I am hoping that kick starts things again. Eventual goal is to be under 230 (after starting at 263.6). It’s good to be back!
never knew how much i needed brussel sprouts in my life what wonderful addition to my diet they’ve become
Been doing shitty for the past couple weeks. Need to buckle down again to get in the groove. BUT, I did see Target had a huge display for Rao’s the other day so I picked up a few bottles.
Wendy's now has a chicken ceaser salad that comes with parmesan crisps instead of croutons. Half salad and a bunless baconator is a pretty good meal on the go. They will also lettuce wrap if you ask.
So ready to start back up. I’ve been mostly maintaining, but I really don’t even enjoy some things now and am eating just to finish them.
yeah i’ve noticed my shits come like diarrhea not necessarily the fluidity but that “oh man i have to shit” feeling that comes out of nowhere
Bai sparkling drinks are pretty damn good. Seem like they would easily lend themselves to a splash of vodka.
we saw this roasted red pepper yogurt dressing at sprouts the other day (12 oz for $4.99 ) showed my wife the ingredients and she said she give it a shot roasted some reds on the kamado and she worked her magic haven’t had a meal without it in the last week
Homemade pecan butter is the only nut butter I eat now. 2 lb bag from Sam's for $13 is clutch. Can't imagine there's anything with fewer carbs and it's pretty delicious. I have also been making Noatmeal. 1/2 cup hemp hearts, 2 tablespoons flax seed meal, 1 tablespoon chia seeds. Sautee in 1 tablespoon butter for a minute or two. Add 1 cup of almond milk and some serve brown sweetener. Stir until it begins to thicken then move to a bowl. It will continue to thicken some after but will get too gummy if you leave it on the heat too long. Lastly tried this today and it was good and very easy. Will also be making the crust as just a pan bread with different herbs/spices to have with meals when I want bread. https://www.ruled.me/5-minute-keto-pizza/ I feel like my Keto arsenal has become pretty extensive. We should have put a running list of stuff in the OP.
When I'm tired of bourbon, scotch, or rye then I mix vodka with any of the flavored sparkling waters. They are good. There are no carb hard waters you can buy now and I assume that has to be what they do. Seems the only way to remove the carbs from the alcohol is to distill it unless I'm missing something. I tried the lagunitas daytime IPA and it's meh, didn't even finish the 12 pack. Not worth the 3 carbs imo. Dogfish Head low carb is better but at 3.6 per can I just stick with the above.
Not a hater but I ain't about that light beer life. Still the same issue though. I can't drink enough to get drunk so not worth it to me most days. I stick with the spirits.
Hit 210 this week, ten more to go, 35 down. I’m going to smash a pizza as soon as I hit 200, then get back on the wagon.
I make boilermakers with the daytime ipas wtb mentioned. Last time I said that I forget who it was called me a alcoholic. They are pretty weak so half a shot doesn’t do that much.
If I have to do that I would just drink the bourbon instead. I recently started trying different styles and qualities of scotch so I'm occupied with that right now when I want to drink. My problem with the Daytime is it just didn't taste like an IPA at all to me. Dogfish Head Slightly Mighty tastes better for sure but it's still only 4 ABV. I just allow myself to cheat every once in a while with a few good IPAs . A couple weeks ago I brought home a growler of Maine Dinner from whole foods and it was delightful.
I haven’t tasted the slightly mighty. I liked the daytime for what they are but wanted them to have more of a kick. I’ll pick them up when I want a beer while grilling. They are only 18 carbs for six pack. I usually just have bourbon but sometimes I want a beer and if you don’t have one for a couple of months they’ll hit the spot.
Noatmeal Used whole toasted flax seeds instead of the meal for this one. Gives it a slight crunchy texture but I like it both ways. It thickens a little faster with the flax meal vs the whole seeds.
Sous vide pork belly seared then tossed in buffalo sauce. Perfect snack to watch the USWNT kick ass. Also fried some babybel wheels. Coated with almond flour, dipped in egg wash, breaded with pork rind crumbs, pan fried in coconut oil. They were amazing but I failed to get a photo. The cheese will protrude a little bit from the sides but they're fine once cooled, just be gentle flipping them. Have to have the almond flour step to prevent it from getting out of hand. Could bake or air fry too I'm sure.
Too much Ketoade post-run has me peeing out my butthole. Possible I lose my last 20 lbs to get to goal tonight.
I'm sitting at 190. Goal was 189 when I started keto initially back in April at 210. Took a month off then started back. Almost there. Will probably shoot for 185 at that point then call it a day with the full keto.
I’m about 10-15pounds from my goal (I’m debating the extra five to get to 195 and because it’d be 50 pounds which would be cool), does anyone have any good suggestions for post keto dieting to maintain? Keto has been a really easy diet for me to follow so I’ve thought about just following a modified keto where I allow myself to eat more carbs (I’m currently doing 25 net a day and have been for a little over three months), but I’m not sure how effective that would be. Open to suggestions.
If I took my kid out for a donut I would eat one as well but just make sure not to eat bread the rest of the day. Trade salad for sandwiches. Drank liquor instead of beer if it was an option. If I ate pizza for dinner I would just skip breakfast the next day with a small salad for lunch. My problem is once I go unhealthy it's easy for me to just keep rolling with it and then it's a week later and I'm 5 pounds heavier. Balance is the key. I never went up more than 2 pounds after I stopped keto for a month. Just make healthy choices including some carbs with smaller portions and don't drink so much and you'll be fine.
