Well they are from Alabama, but the mother is more of a hippie than anything else and the family is Catholic and the women started drinking white wine at 11 am.
My last three hours have been stuck watching the parades and dog show, not football. Also includes my mom perpetually shouting as my grandmother is selectively deaf and my mom apparently can not speak in multiple levels even when her mom isn’t in the room with us. Also the pre made meal they bought (wouldn’t let me get a badass one in Dallas) from their local shitty chain did not come cooked so we are three hours delayed.
Count your blessings. It’s better than driving 6 hours only to stay at a shitty motel in Pearl, MS and then turn around and drive 4 more hours the next day. I was duped into thinking trip advisor’s 4.5 rating of the Pearl Best Western indicated that it was a pretty solid establishment. I was wrong. And then there’s Sunday...10.5 hours straight driving with an Iron Bowl hangover. I might not make it back to Texas alive...
My brother-in-law at the table after a short lull in conversation: “so I bought an inflatable hot tub off Facebook marketplace...”
12 adults and 7 kids (all 5 and under) about to sit down to dinner and the power just went out. Should be fun!
In less than a year I have gone Rented a room there once cause neither the girl or I had a room to use. It was the cheapest option around there.
Weather’s been shit so we aren’t going anywhere. No baby holding for grandma. On the plus side I’m drinking my booze and sleeping in my own bed.
Sister told us to be over at 1 for Thanksgiving lunch. Came over around around 1230pm. Nothing was done. Ended up making the mashed potatoes, ham, vegetables, and the turkey didn’t even finish by the time we left. Ended up eating “lunch” around 3pm. Oh and I hurried out of work to this. Happy fucking thanksgiving y’all
Is "Thanksgiving lunch" meant to be the noonish meal before Thanksgiving dinner, which would be sometime around 6? If so, I don't get what you're complaining about. If Thanksgiving dinner is in the evening and you show up at 12:30, then of course you should be expected to help. In short, don't show up so early or early at all if it bothers you to pitch in.
We have it at lunch time because we usually go to church in the evening then come back to eat the leftovers. And I enjoy cooking so I have no problem pitching in. I was texting her throughout the week making sure everything was taken cared of. She asked us to bring dessert and she would handle everything else. Exactly why I was frustrated.
4pm is the optimal time for Thanksgiving dinner. Lunch is stupid bc who the fuck wants to eat that much at noon, let alone make it. Dinner at 6-7 is too long to wait. 4pm Dinner 6-7pm Desert 9-10pm Lil snack Coma
Oh, I get that. Most Thanksgiving meals I've had with family were held sometime during the midday. We'd just call it a Thanksgiving meal or dinner, though... not a Thanksgiving lunch. If someone asks me to come over at 1 for a Thanksgiving lunch, I'm assuming that they're just tricking me into helping them prepare.
Normally I go to my dad’s and my stepmom has it at 2PM. I eat a late breakfast so I’m not hungry and then go over for that. Good time for me. This year I’m sick so stayed home and saw no one. My mom and my dad both felt bad and brought me a plate of food though so I got dinner tonight and lunch tomorrow
Great grandpa disappeared at some point. Found him looking for a fishing pole chugging vodka smoking reds.
More like getting caught up on the term "Thanksgiving lunch," which I've never heard before. Sounded to me like something separate from a Thanksgiving dinner/meal.
Completely agree. Having Thanksgiving for lunch is incredibly weird to me. It's an early dinner meal....eat apps/booze all day leading up to it.
