I don’t care about Tua in the NFL. I had trouble liking Tua due to his weird Christian stuff. I just legitimately think you’re a moron. Reading your bad takes on pretty much any topic is a sight to see.
The dolphins are actively trying to trade for sexual deviant facing legal trouble to replace the guy this thread is about. Sorry you think I am squatting on a bad take when the dolphins front office agrees with me
Imagine thinking that the most incompetent and poorly run FO's in all of football agreeing with you is a good thing
Everyone has to see the Watson stuff for what it is especially the way Tua has played the past two weeks. It's two desperate men trying to do something that can buy them more time. They need to be fired, all of them. They're the problem with this team not Tua
My main issue with a Watson trade, aside from the sexual assault stuff, is that it's a transparent Hail Mary to save their jobs after a botched rebuild. If you're gonna trade for Watson you need to fire Grier, Flores and everyone else regardless of that fact. You're spinning tires otherwise.
But if he was as awful as you claim the defensive rank wouldn't matter. Why are you now moving the goal posts? We've gone from he's horrible and not a starter too, well he's only good against bad pass defenses. Which is it?
I am not moving the goal posts. Someone can be not worthy of being a starter while also putting up good numbers in some circumstances. plenty of low-tier QBs put up good numbers against bad defenses. For example: Teddy Bridgewater threw for 328 yards and 2 TDs vs Jacksonville. Another example: Taylor Heinicke threw for 290 yards and 3 TDs vs. Atlanta.
Why aren't you making threads on those QB's then as well????? What's your obsession with this young QB who has yet to play 16 games? Shouldn't you have one big thread on QB's unworthy of being starters?
because no one is passionate about those QBs. There is no debate. Who wants to talk about Teddy Bridgewater as he QBs his 4th team? Or Heinicke, who went to ODU and is only playing because the starter got hurt.
Tua is about to go up against the #1 DVOA pass defense. So we could just wait until this week and see how it goes.
Last two weeks were against bad defenses but it's also true that the offensive cast he's played with the last two weeks is bad. Worst pass blocking team in football (according to PFF and ESPNs pass block win rate). Also 2 of his top 3 WRs out. Below average running game.
fwiw Tua ranks just ahead of Lamar, Wyoming Cowboys legend Josh Allen, Stafford and Brady in completion % above expectation
only a few slots below Teddy Bridgewater and Mac Jones maybe not the most illuminating statistic, especially just partway through the year
https://nextgenstats.nfl.com/stats/passing#yards with FootballOutsiders putting basically everything behind a paywall, Next Gen Stats has become a really nice resource it should be noted that Tua's average intended air yards lags behind Lamar and Allen, but he's right around Herbert and Mahomes
One point of contention I have with the "Tua sucks" crowd is that the common critique is that he's "checkdown Tua" but the stats just don't bear that out. He just hasn't been fortunate enough to have guys that can make something happen after the catch. I love Gesicki but he has all the wiggle of a cement block after the catch. Same with Parker. The rest of these jokers don't even count. Hoping Waddle can change that.
looking at those Next Gen Stats, Cole Beasley and Waddle have the same average targeted air yards which seems ridiculous. He has speed that should make him a big time threat down the field but I guess Flores doesn't want to use him that way? Dolphins, Bears and Texans are all putting on impressive displays of organizational dysfunction. Say what you want about the Jets, Jags and Lions but they all at least have some kind of plan in place right now whereas the GMs in Miami, Chicago and Houston seem like they're doing their best Captain Ahab impersonations
I think it's 50% organization incompetence and 50% having the worst pass blocking OL in football. But there's definitely incompetence because if you look at Waddle's route charts hes hardly even attempting anything deep but we have our 2nd and 3rd TEs running those 20+ yard routes. It's bewildering.
And that IAY is less than Justin Fields and Sam Darnold. And yeah football outsiders hiding their stuff trying to make it some secret sauce isn't worth it. And those metrics are also in player stats in football-reference.com.
Tua literally died against MISSISSIPPI STATE because he wasn’t bout that check down life. He fucked around and found out
