WTF happened to Country Music?

Just happened to see this at the top of the page as I was listening to this song. IMO it's the most overlooked great Garth Brooks song. Hey man i dunno why they have cartoon shit in the video they clearly don't get the song, but it's incredible lyrics and an amazing song.

 

Saw him at the Ryman a few weeks ago, and it was an awesome show. Most engaged crowd I’ve seen in a while. Can’t wait to see what’s next for him.

 

Zach Bryan and Morgan Wade touring with that fuck Luke Combs is a little weird to me, but as long as they don’t sell out I’m good

 

Not sure how Zach got looped in but Morgan is on the same label as Luke.

This Yelawolf/Shooter Jennings album is awesome. This pairing shouldn't work, but holy shit. Yelawolf can sing and it's full of high energy synth and guitars with good hooks.

I'm dead serious. I can't believe I'm even typing this. Just throw it on and let it ride. It has heavy Sturgill "Sound & Fury" vibes.

This was sufficiently weird but also really good.

There’s some country, some glam rock, indie pop and a little soul at times? Can’t categorize it to sell it, but worth the spin for sure.

 

Ha, loved this song as a kid.

 

This might seem like fat shaming but Luke combs and his corny ass music being famous will never not make me laugh whenever his songs pop up on my feed.

So he just went in and properly recorded everything he’s got basically that wasn’t on a previous release. Cold Damn Vampires is on the album, and that’s been bouncing around online for ~18 months.

 

All in on 34. You can always weed out the ones you don't like and still have a damn near full album to listen to.


Also, I can't stop listening to the whole Ian Noe album from start to finish.

 

He got COVID and had to cancel his show tonight. Sucks but also kind of glad because he rescheduled it for a Saturday in July, and I’m old.

 

My only concern about 34 is at some point it becomes just a playlist. I like album structure and appreciate the value in coherently piecing together a tracklist within that structure.

Perhaps he'll surprise me, but I just don't know if that can be done at 30+ songs.

 

Completely agree with that. I doubt it will be much of a cohesive album that flows well.

 

I can’t get into Paul Cauthen. I’ve tried multiple times but I just can’t. I don’t know what it is. It just comes off a little cheesy sometimes.

 

My Gospel is an awesome album.

Now, everything after that has been really disappointing. I haven’t listened to today’s new one, but I’m afraid it’s going to be the same thing.
