Since we’re on the subject, I would highly encourage everyone here to read up on someone like Faygele. This person went absolutely hard in the paint for future generations of LGBTQ. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Faygele_Ben-Miriam
I mean this in no insensitive way whatsoever, but One Two could’ve used those tuck undergarments in junior high. Or now that I think about it more me in college riding the bumpy transit busses while wearing mesh shorts.
Holy shit. Reading through that thread…unsure if some posters were just more sarcastic back then or if they wised up about showing their asses on a message board. Either way,
In case no one else pointed out yet another instance of how you don’t know shit about anything you talk about, Miller Industries is a towing equipment company…
Molson Coors And for anyone thinking to pivot due to bigotry they may want to tread carefully because your Keystones, Blue Moons, and obviously Coor's are all within the same company.
MLS: "I don't think the marketing campaign was done well or with the right people, but anyone that adjusts what they drink due to an attempt at LGTQ support campaign can get fucked"
Honest thought/question- I have been on this board since college. Have seen maturity rise and shift to left, even though I lean more conservative I still like to read others viewpoints. I could care less about what a person does. Gay, straight, trans, etc if it makes you happy, go be happy. I know and understand many aren’t like that unfortunately. Life is too short to not be happy. Do I think that lifestyle is wrong? No, even had a trans student in 2016 and had to navigate a classroom where Joel left on a Friday and came back as Jenny Monday in the South. There were whispers from students, but even here it was normalized after a day. Why is it an issue people don’t want it shoved down their throat through advertisements? Why is it an issue families don’t want it in or around young kids?
Well unless you already followed Dylan on social media and/or your kids are big Bud Light drinkers, I don’t see how either of those concerns would have been relevant here. The only reason the world knows about this is because the snowflakes couldn’t handle it and gave it a million times more exposure than it otherwise would have had.
It’s my son’s birthday party today and we have my MIL, SIL and our nephew staying with us as well as having friends over for it. At some point now I’m going to have to sneak off and see if I can do this.
No, as I explained in my OP. I have no issues with lifestyle, do whatever makes you happy. The “it” is someone that doesn’t live in that lifestyle and being forced to just accept a young kid getting exposed to someone else’s ideas on YouTube and not their own.
Exposure to new ideas doesn’t sound all that bad, but I guess that maybe a concerned parent could monitor their child’s YouTube consumption. Seems kind of backwards to demand that the world conform to what you want your kids to consume.
What’s funny is the only reason people know about the bud lite thing is the culture warriors or whatever these fucks call themselves took to the internet and made it explode. Also trans is not being shoved down anyone’s throat. Also don’t be a pussy and just have honest conversations with your kids. The false fear that this will change your kid is hilarious. I got news for the chuds. Guess what if your kid turns out gay or trans? They already were and no ad, tv show or anything like that made them that way. They are who they are.
1. No one is shoving anything down anyones throat with these advertisements. Simply coexisting and accepting others as they are isn’t having anything shoved down your throat. Yes, bigots feel that is happening. But that’s because they’re bigots. 2. As to why it’s important for “it”, meaning advertisements and products directed at marginalized communities like the LGBTQ+ community, to be “in or around young kids”, it’s because many in the marginalized communities understand what it’s like to be a child who is looking for community. Also, here’s me on my soapbox as someone without kids. PARENTS DON’T ALWAYS KNOW WHAT IS BEST FOR THEIR KIDS!
Yeah but they got more Twitter and TikTok followers so there's that selfish interest. I get parents wanting kids to be kids as long as possible and put off talking about this stuff, but at some point they'll have to.
You’re right to be concerned about what your child may be exposed to on YouTube. There are lots of age inappropriate things my kids have stumbled upon on YouTube. The existence of trans individuals is not amount those things, but I think the recommendation to moderate your child’s media intake is the solution if you are concerned about what they are exposed to. the truth is that nobody in the trans community or greater LGBTQ community are forcing anything on anyone. They are existing, which you say you support. If companies choose to market towards them or offer goods or services targeting them, then they’re no different than any other sub population. They exist, so at some point you or your kids are going to have have acknowledge their existence. On the other hand, the only people trying to force their lifestyle on others are the people who want to erase these communities from existence and would deny an individual the right to self-determination. By your own post, *that* is what you should find offensive and objectionable.
It’s really simple. My oldest is 13. About two years ago he asked me about transgender, etc. I simply explained to him what it was. His first reaction was “that’s weird”. Which is ok because he was 11. I explained to him to only reason he thinks that is because he probably doesn’t feel that way, but there is nothing weird about it and humans come in all different forms and to try understand and accept them all. He simply said “makes sense” It’s really not that hard to just talk to your kids.
Really seems like a lot of conservative motivation is just dudes that don't want to deal with their kids
Exactly. It seems way more often than not it’s not the kids who are incapable of understanding things, it’s the parents.
I have 3 kids and they can live whatever life they want and my feelings for them won’t ever change. I would only fear for their safety if they were LGBQT, which is sad to me. That shouldn’t have to be a fear.
Kids aren’t stupid either. They see, comprehend and have the ability to understand more than parents give them credit for. Sheltering them really only hurts their growth.
my daughter had a kid in her daycare class that was born male and wearing dresses and makeup at 4 years old so we had that conversation pretty early. it was surprisingly easy.
Pearl clutching about kids (below the age of like 11-12) is ridiculous. They see a woman with a beer can. Anything more comes from their environment.
every concern about kids also rings hollow when they’re getting murdered in school and nobody does anything about it.
Can you give an example of an ad that shows what you’re talking about? In conversations like these, it’s super easy to have a complete misunderstanding and I’d like to make sure I know what you’re actually uncomfortable with.
going back in time to get mad online about my children being indoctrinated by Bud Light Real Men of Genius
I will never forgive Carls Jr for turning me straight as a child with their ads of scantily clad women eating burgers
No one else has replied to thid, but Target has been doing this during pride month for several years now and it's only a major issue this year because of how much Tucker Carlson and evil bigots online have intentionally fanned the flames. The North Face thing is confusing to me. I saw a clip of a drag queen talking about the company but it didn't seem like something the company actually produced. The stuff they're selling looks like tie-dye at best. North face also has been a pretty progressive company for a while I think, no one should be shocked if they frequent their stores. Edit: Actually just looked and the drag queen advertising is just yet another influencer online that you would never ever come across unless you intentionally looked at that stuff.
The fact that you could stand to care less about the issue makes it a you problem. You're a big boy, figure it out
Why is it an issue that marketing ads can’t target people with lifestyles different than your own? Do you even know what inclusivity is? It involves the general concept that people have a right to simply exist and breathe air. I appreciate your openness and honestness in this matter. But having marketing to and acceptance of the marketing actually says in a very loud way that you are a human and you have value in this society and your life has value. Nothing is being shoved down you or your families throat. Companies are just finally saying that “we see you, you have a place in our society” to the people that have never heard that message from mainstream advertising. We can go on for days about the motives behind the companies but the truth is, that is not the point. Do you think I want my family around a bunch of gun-crazed lunatics? No. I have the same options as everyone else in that matter. I will borrow a phrase I hear from the group of people that have said it to me the most. “If you don’t like this country you can fucking leave it then.” Not to obfuscate the trans issue with the gun issue because that is not the point. The point is people have rights and freedoms. All people, so long as they are not breaking the law. Being trans is not breaking any laws unless some bigoted state decides to make it so.
Idk man I guess marginalizing anyone is wrong, guess that is hot take now. I whole heartedly support any lifestyle, but how tone deaf do people have to be when high school girls are missing out on their trip to a state championship because a guy took their spot and are fed up with it
Lol this like doesn’t happen at any rate worth mentioning you idiot. You’re telling on yourself and the media you consume.
https://nypost.com/2023/05/22/trans...nd-place-in-calif-high-school-track-meet/amp/ This ain’t right folks
No, this ain't right. https://www.abc4.com/news/girl-investigated-for-being-transgender-after-winning-state-title/
Sexuality isn’t a lifestyle or choice. It’s who they just are naturally. There are probably many LGBTQ folks that wish they weren’t due to fear and bigots. Which is unfortunate they have to feel that way for being who they just are.
