Intra-league pre-contracts are kinda weird imo. I believe England has rules similar to loans where players can’t play against a club they have a pre-contract with tho iirc.
Bayern used to write that into their Junior squad loans but stopped a couple years ago because it’s silly.
Nothing as Bayern as announcing a signing from the team that’s competing with you for a trophy while the season is still happening.
They probably wanted it confirmed rather than have distracting rumours swirling around the situation for the next few months. I can understand why some people think the early announcements of pre-contracts/buyouts thing is weird but that’s a Germany thing rather than a Bayern thing. Exhibit A being Marco Rose announced to Dortmund today.
Just because it’s a know thing doesn’t mean I have to think it’s ok. There’s also a difference, to me, in the continued top dog plucking their competitors top players during the season, than announcing a manager change Manager’s aren’t actually on the field competing
I used Rose since it was today. The other German clubs do the same things with players. It’s not Bayern’s fault their signings are of better players and generate more media buzz. Here’s a different example then:
You’re too caught up on the Bayern part of this They just exploit it more than others. And seem to do it with big names and at times that’s awfully convenient for them.
Well Bayern was the original topic in this chain of messages. I’d argue that a.) that’s untrue and b.) that they’re not exploiting anything. They do it with big names because those are the level of players they’re signing. Finally, I’m not sure when becomes a convenient or inconvenient time to make a signing like this. Would you have them wait and then some other club comes in and signs him? At least it feels less gross defending Bayern from unfair attacks now that Davies is a mainstay.
I already told you Leipzig confirmed the move first but I will bow out now since nothing will change your mind from the “Bayern is evil” angle.
No my point is I don’t see why either side would HAVE to announce an agreement this past week in your scenario. Couldn’t RBL and Bayern have submitted everything to BL and just announced at EOY? Point of the matter is, while signing pre-contracts is obviously legal and a thing, I don’t like when the top dog does it during a season against a rival.(insert whatever team you want to make your heart feel better)
Also the reason everyone, including me, doesn’t like that Bayern does this is because they’re the ones constantly doing it. You can site Mainz signing Dahoud but Mainz wasn’t competing against Dortmund for a title.
Someone on Twitter posted a chart the other day of BL teams poaching other BL players. Dortmund had the most, by far, but nobody cares about that because they’re the darlings. Bayern was 4th.
Let’s just call this the Bayern Summer Transfer thread and start a new one for the rest of the world.
My rub comes from poaching them from the direct competitors during a trophy run. Which I know isn’t a rule or anything, I just hate it.
And then Dortmund before that for two enormous signings. Again, I get this is part of it, and the rules. But to act line you guys haven’t done it at a higher level more than others is ridiculous When was the last time Dortmund announced a signing during the spring from a German team they’re directly competing against in the moment.
What do you mean by doing it at a higher level? Buying a higher level of player? Maybe. More frequently? Definitely not
Buying bigger names from better teams. my problem isn’t the system, it’s the way Bayern has used it against direct rivals in the middle/at end of seasons.
How are we using it against them? Tbqh these teams aren’t competing with us with those players anyway.
RBL is the biggest challenge to your title this year, no? And his signing for you guys just got announced.... You were facing Dortmund in the clubs biggest game ever, and days before you announced the signing of one of their top players.
So we’re just supposed to not buy the best available CB to replace our departing starter because he happens to play for the second place team? And if you’re taking about Gotze? The press leaked that, we didn’t. Gotze wrote about it in his book about why he doesn’t do many interviews in Germany
Lewa and Goretzka being free kind of negate the dollar figure difference. I have no problems with Bayern signing players from other BL clubs as it solidifies their league position (and is why I’m not interested in BL in general) but the timing for internal buyout clauses or free transfers and in season but not in season moves (Upamecano) feels dumb. Like all if this couldn’t wait until the summer window?
