Thank god women aren’t really into the whole killing stuff, because with all of the serial killer and murder shit they watch, they’d likely all be genius murderers.
The lack of any action from the two unharmed roommates is killing me. I don’t believe in conspiracies, etc. and completely understand that they were scared sh*tless. What I cannot wrap my head around is the circumstances of physically checking on their non-responsive roommates. We know they cannot wake her up but couldn’t have put much effort into it if they refused to get close enough to notice any blood, odor, etc…Or was the “she won’t wake up” purely a conclusion from zero response to texts? In the 911 call, you can hear a male voice saying “We should leave” after finally “examining” one of the deceased roommates.
Shock does weird shit to people. Is it “odd” they took so long to do anything? Sure. But trauma can do that. Also have to wonder if living in that known party house caused them to hesitate calling the cops.
I think any logic goes out the window because they were college kids drinking all night and then plus throw all of the shock on top of the alcohol.
MMQB a bunch of scared shitless kids in a traumatic and high stakes situation is lame reddit stuff. also, these kids were going to college in Idaho. they aren't the brightest.
If you think it’s anything other than young drunk college students being in complete shock then your conclusion has to be they were somehow involved and that’s batshit insane
Prob should also remember despite being 20 something they still mostly have the brain of a child, compounded by a highly stressful situation they've never encountered before. Your brain also protects itself from shocking situations and doesn't compute what's going on sometimes until after the fact.
The entire grown adult male Uvalde police department whose explicit job description was to enter that classroom freaked the fuck out. But we should expect more from two untrained college girls that had been drinking.
I don't think it's this but I think some people struggle with understanding illogical actions in situations. We can sit in safety and go, "Why didn't this happen and this and this and this" but there are situations where logic is completely out of the window. Unless you've seen people act incredibly illogical, you might not understand how wild people's responses can get and then you fail to empathize with the person or situation. When I was 5, I slammed my hand in a car door. My mom saw my hand stuck in the door and then literally ran around the block and continued to drop her keys under the car while my hand was still in the door. A completely illogical response to the situation. You could question 100s of things about her response to the situation but she went into autopilot and her instincts lead her to illogical responses.
My theory is at least partly they couldn't or didn't want to believe what their eyes were telling them.
They didn’t want to believe that a tariff is a tax on Americans and that their cult leader knows nothing about the basics of economics. Fox News even told them that Trump doesn’t understand tariffs. That’s still on them. Lol, wrong thread
from a new motion in limine and relevant information: K. Defendant's MIL #9 re: Excluding Amazon Click Activity Evidence at Trial (DENIED) The evidence is highly relevant. A Ka-Bar knife sheath was found lying next to the body of one of the deceased victims, all of whom were stabbed to death. Defendant's DNA was found on the knife sheath. Records from an Amazon account registered to Defendant's name and email show that a purchase of a Ka-Bar knife and sheath was made from the account approximately eight months prior to the homicides. Click activity on the same account shows the customer also viewed pages associated with Ka-Bar style knives at that time and, in the week following the purchase, viewed pages associated with the shipping progress of the knife and sheath. The product was shipped to "Bryan Kohberger" at his family address in Pennsylvania. After the homicides, activity from the same account showed the user navigated pages related to the deletion of account activity and, a week later, viewed pages associated with a Ka-Bar knife and sheath. This evidence establishes a significant connection between Defendant and a Ka-bar knife and sheath.
For a guy about to get his Doctorates in criminology - this guy was a fucking idiot. having said that, he drove past several bodies of water on his return home. I’m sure the knife is at the bottom in one of them.
Blows my mind he was getting a doctorate in criminology but applied absolutely none of that knowledge when he decided to do a multiple murder
I'm willing to bet you could plunk down the money to get a criminology degree and your Masters and work towards a doctorate and at absolutely no point will "don't buy the murder weapon on your own Amazon account" be mentioned anywhere.
Would love to know what the argument is for excluding this info. What a dipshit. The only “smart” thing he did was not bring his phone but didn’t he drive by the place earlier that night with his phone?
I think probably nobody actually thinks they'll ever be involved in a random murder situation. Their brains were probably coming up with a million alternative explanations for the shit they thought they were seeing, because clearly someone didn't randomly break into the house and just start hacking people to death for no reason. Especially with alcohol/maybe drugs as a factor.
Probably right but paying cash and not buying it at the local hardware store is a trope in tv and movies.
There is truly no way to know how you’d respond to a situation like that. If I had to guess how I’d react if that happened to me when I was hammered in the early morning hours I’d prob think I was dreaming or just wouldn’t be able to accept it was real. It’s such a rare/traumatic occurrence I am not sure my sober mind would be able to register it immediately, fuck anyone trashing the reactions of the survivors
I’d say based on most of his actions and movements, it’s pretty easy to assume he didn’t want to get caught.
I just think of all the insane irrational shit I did drunk immediately following a loss in a college football game when I was that age. I can't even imagine how my drunk brain would react to witnessing a murder.
Same idea as gun ownership and the hero complex people have about themselves. Most people's brain doesn't work right in extreme moments
He did some things like cut his cell phone off during the murders that suggest he put some thought and effort into not getting caught
My cousin got his undergrad in criminology and then ended up work for CBP. Intellectual strength is not a requirement.
I think it’s possible he had a couple of different mental states, one where he didn’t want to be caught (and probably planned more killings) and another where he wanted the notoriety. He had the Papa Rodgers account (I know this hasn’t been confirmed but I’d be shocked if it wasn’t him) he wanted to play a game online of dropping hints. I also think he knew he was fucked after he left the sheath so amped that up a bit. He probably was going back and forth a bit depending on his mood.
I don’t think they saw blood. I think it’s fairly likely the roommates often just communicated digitally. Pretty normal in situations with housemates, let alone a college one. You give people privacy and respect. They knew something was off based on their texts but there was a mixture of letting people have their privacy and also fear over underage drinking so they didn’t sound the alarm and they rationalised it. In fairness if your position is they were in shock at what had happened upstairs that it would be weird for them to be back scrolling on their phones that morning after waking up, several hours after they heard the noise / saw the person.
New tidbit of info released. Before she ran downstairs to her roommates room, she saw Xana laying on the floor of her room. Head against the wall and feet towards the door. She thought Xana was just passed out drunk. I can only assume that’s why so much blood/wine showed up on the outside of the home. https://coi.isc.idaho.gov/docs/CR01...s+in+Limine+RE+Text+Messages+and+911+Call.pdf

Genetic testing from 23 and me. I think his sister did a test and they narrowed it down to him based on him going to school in Pullman.
