Re: A Clash of Kings Discussion [ONLY ENTER IF YOU'VE FINISHED BOOK 2] So fuck theon. Stannis you magic using motherfucker. Although Renly had to die [it was too damn easy for him considering he had the whole south] it really did surprise me.
Re: A Clash of Kings Discussion [ONLY ENTER IF YOU'VE FINISHED BOOK 2] It was necessarily that Renly had to die that surprised me, but how he died :ohholyfuck:
Re: A Clash of Kings Discussion [ONLY ENTER IF YOU'VE FINISHED BOOK 2] Yeah exactly. Did not see that coming at all. One of the first real big fantasy moments. Other than the dragons of course.
Re: A Clash of Kings Discussion [ONLY ENTER IF YOU'VE FINISHED BOOK 2] I wouldn't necessarily consider it a cop out. It creates other possible story lines, and something to add other than more fighting.
Re: A Clash of Kings Discussion [ONLY ENTER IF YOU'VE FINISHED BOOK 2] Melisandre's shadow baby scene at Storm's End better be just as explicit next season
Re: A Clash of Kings Discussion [ONLY ENTER IF YOU'VE FINISHED BOOK 2] So, yeeeeeeah, can we all agree Tyrion is the best fucking character? I hate the Lannisters, but damnit if I didn't find myself cheering for the chain and the wildfire to work. Also, hope somehow Davos made it, but I doubt it.
Re: A Clash of Kings Discussion [ONLY ENTER IF YOU'VE FINISHED BOOK 2] Yeah, it is interesting how all the magic seems to be picking up now that the dragons are on the scene. Even the pyromancers are getting a taste. Really can't wait to see giants from north of the wall.
Re: A Clash of Kings Discussion [ONLY ENTER IF YOU'VE FINISHED BOOK 2] Hope Davos' casting is awesome.
Re: A Clash of Kings Discussion [ONLY ENTER IF YOU'VE FINISHED BOOK 2] Renly had to die. Stannis would have no hope if it weren't for her killing him. Would have been too easy. I like it as an introduction to magic.
I thought for a second the character Sansa would be useful in the 2nd season of the show but she's way to young to do the nudity scene.
Halfway thru CoKs and its SO much better than GoT in my opinion. The Hound is really growing on my as a character. I really like anti-heroes, so it makes sense.
If you think CoK is great, just wait til SoS. I'm about 2/3 through and it's nuts, with, from what I hear, much crazier shit to come.
Anyone get the message icon for this thread? I thought I was especially clever at the time. I was also a little drunk.
idk if i have to spoiler shit in here, but i'll do it anyway. Spoiler i just finished. are we sure stannis and theon are dead or should i just stfu and start book 3
just finished as well...took me a while to figure out why stannis' guys thought renly had come back is stannis' wife dead as well? theon is definitely dead kinda pissed they completely gloss over Robb's victories tyrion rules whole lot of storylines left open with dany coming back, robb out there destroying shit and pissed off thinking his brothers are dead, jon joining the bad guys....and yeah a whole lot of magic starting to appear
hmmmm I guess I just assumed she would be there somehow...also not sure why they would use magic to kill renly and the storms end guy and not use it at all to attack the main jewel they were after
Stannis doesn't bring Melisandre because he doesn't want people to think she is the source of his power
For some reason I think Stannis will still be alive. I'm guessing someone dressed up as Renly/they were mistaken that he was leading the charge? Or is he actually he alive? I don't see why you would kill him for him to return in the end. And wait are y'all calling Melisandre Stannis' wife?
the battle of blackwater should take up the entire episode. i really, really really, hope the budget is sufficient enough to show the battle in all of its glory
The chain, the armies, the huge naval battle, the green fire, etc. how will they possibly do it justice?
the book didn't do it justice either...took me 4 chapters into book 3 before i finally figured out exactly what happened and who is alive and dead BTW SoS is amazing so far and only on page 75
I'm delaying it as long as possible. That way the wait for book 6 won't be as long. [4 years instead of 5]
Ya, just makes you pissed to read that note at the end of FfC where he says he'll have a DwD out the next year
Re: A Clash of Kings Discussion [ONLY ENTER IF YOU'VE FINISHED BOOK 2] Found myself thinking this when reading his POVs. Clearly the most interesting character and the most lovable of the Lannisters
Anyone know the purpose of Renly eating that peach in front of Stannis? Was he mocking him some how? I could never figure it out.
finally finished. the Battle of Blackwater was really confusing to try to keep track of, but I guess that was the point because we were seeing it from Tyrion and Davos' POVs and even they didn't really know what was going on half the time. really interested to see where Jon's storyline goes. I'm not sure what to think of Bran. I think I may have set myself up for a letdown in thinking his dreams would turn out to mean more that they actually do, but maybe I'm wrong. also, like others have said, I really didn't understand the whole thing about Renly's ghost. I guess considering the way he was killed anything is possible. can't wait to start ASOS tomorrow.
I want him to regain the use of his legs, whether it be as a wolf or whatever, but in real life not just the dreams. I don't know why, but that's the direction I thought it was going.
good point. shit after all that's changed from the start of the first book to now, I can't even imagine where the story will be five books from now.
