No real agenda there; was surprised the fact Hillary Clinton was in support of an investigation into the CPD. I thought the idea of an investigation would go no where and I was severely wrong.
I have no idea what the fuck is going on in this case, but I don’t think being convicted on 16 felonies results in community service.
Within a month of seeking and getting indictments for 16 felonies? That doesn’t seem reasonable at all to me.
Easy to say this now, but right from the jump CPD was leaking out info like crazy, which always felt insidious in some way.
Has to be some tampering/shoddy police work, right? To dismiss it completely, then seal the records? They're hiding something.
Sixteen counts of one felony. And yeah, I’m guessing a month was enough time for the defense team to let the prosecutor know that pretrial motions and the trial itself were going to be miserable, and it looks like the prosecutor was going into this with no love lost for the PD.
Oh shit, I ran a search on "Chicago PD" Investigation on Twitter, and it was one of the first ones posted. Just proved the timeline feed is the superior feed. I hate how Twitter is moving to showing the "top posts" instead of the most recent. Laps commencing.
Tin foil theory, The brothers actually did do this shit and thought they could somehow get a payoff. I have no clue how that makes sense. Maybe they just didn't like the guy and went the noose MAGA route to throw the scent off? I have no fucking clue
Ha! so they are saying Jussie was responsible for a threatening racist letter that contained white powder, but did not lie or file a false police report when a few weeks later he claimed he was attacked, but the attackers turned out to be 2 close friends who at some point claimed it was all a hoax orchestrated by Jussie? That sounds about right
Seems a bit disengeneous that Chicago cops are mad a man committed a crime and won't serve time for it. Maybe if Smollett was a cop it would have been fine.
I will fully admit that I am opining from a place of ignorance, but it seems dubious that a prosecutor could believe that he or she had probable cause to pursue 16 counts and less than a month later drop all charges absent extremely strange circumstances. All that being said, this case has been so weird that I wouldn’t feel confident taking any strong position on anything at this point.
I saw that, just seemed like an odd statement. Do they drop every case where the result might simply be community service? Why charge with a felony if that’s the case? The very nature of a felony includes the prospect of jail time. Maybe they just tired of the resources they were having to expend, who knows. Whole case has been a cluster since the start. Edit: not sure why it won’t quote THF post above. Was responding to that one.
Seems like there’s a lot going on between the DA and the CPD and there was a difference of opinion from the beginning of this investigation if you are to believe the report that the CPD felt she was trying to meddle in the investigation But still as electronic alluded to why go ahead with the probable cause that you had enough to charge him with 16 felonies if she didn’t feel this was a case worth pursuing
I mean, they have a check from Smollett and video of those dudes buying the supplies. None of this makes any sense.
I think it was because I didn't really post anything outside of the two quotes, the system doesn't include previously quoted posts in the next quote to reduce long posts. I am reading elsewhere that the DA has been long pressing to have the FBI handle the entire investigation. I am not sure of the accuracy, but I saw that the Federal investigation is still on going and that Foxx had been pushing the CPD to hand over the control of the entire case to the FBI as they had seen numerous leaks by the CPD prior to charges being presented.
sometimes I forget why I get you two mixed up this is not one of those times, such grievance from the miami fans
Hell yeah. Bout to head out and do some crimes this afternoon myself. Hey what do you think about Trump Jr getting off for lying to Congress? Liberal privilege there too?
He faked his threats and attack to become some type of LGBTQ+ hero only to set them back years of progress fuck him and hopefully he loses everything
So one good point I just read is; he did not get his bail back. Innocent people are refunded their bail money. Additionally his case is sealed meaning if he were innocent; their would be no reason to seal the case. My assumption is the City is allowing the FBI to continue their case while excusing themselves from the situation. This does not appear to be over.
Fair enough. I can see how I overstated the fact that sealing the case doesn’t prove guilt or innocence.
Its only allegedly because Chicago PD and the DA are incompetent at doing their jobs but seeing their crime rate we already knew that
Not only does it not prove guilt or innocence, it's completely and totally unrelated. You can't seal something based on the presumed outcome even if you wanted to.
It's not great but Jacob Wohl essentially did the same things and we have yet to hear about it it sets white incels back decades in progress. We barely hear about Wohl at all.
because no one gives a fuck about Wohl and white incels are worthless individuals who deserve genocide
I think we are generally in agreement on the fact that something is fucky and dude probably still has some answering to do. But, seeing the how the civil forfeiture system works in this country I wouldn’t put as much stock in the above portion.
