I had a good time playing there when I was in Tampa for the Outback bowl. Didn't place in any tourneys but felt like the structures were fair and stacks pretty deep for weekly tournaments ...
If you happen to be in Charleston, WV, the $1/$2 game at Mardi Gras Casino is one my favs. From last weekend
Need some run good. After the first 2 hours I’m down. Started with 30,000, down to 21,000. Blinds at 200-400 BB ante 300 after break. Long way to go. Started out good but ran kings into a flopped set and lost a straight to runner, runner boat.
I wish, not much anymore. My poker peak was about 10 years ago. I am going to play an 1100 dollar tourney at Firekeepers Casino in battle Creek Michigan around October time. They do two big ones twice a year, the spring main event paid $250K to 1st. I play some cash downtown about every 3-4 months. What about you?
Dont get to play much when I'm in Detroit since I'm usually there to visit fam. This spot in WV has treated me well but dont go too often. Was thinking I should amount things up a bit there, but it's a 4.5 hour drive. Usually play at Harrah's Cherokee 5-10 times a year, but that place is so fuckin stingy. No promos, expensive drinks, you can only buy in $200 max for $1/$2, but it's the only game in town. I did split a Sunday tourney pot there for about $1600 recently, so that was a nice hit ... WSOP circuit is going on there in a couple weeks, taking some time off work and gonna play everything I can
No run good today boys. Has about 20,000 in the small blind. Big stack at the table is on the button. Button raises to 1,600. I look down at KK. Bump it up to 6,000. He shoves. I call. KK vs AK. Spikes an Ace. Such is life in tourneys.
I was in for $500, but I've had a few nights over the years at that place walking out with $1000+ ...
I used believe in the bad beats online thing back in the day but since starting to play tourneys again in the last year tough to run good enough to really chip up. I definitely had a bubbling problem when I was in town there ...
I think the “online is rigged” people don’t understand the concept of volume variance. You see five times more hands, you’ll see five times more beats. Pretty simple.
People are so much better than they were during the glory days of the mid to late 2000s. I'm sure it's gotten a million times harder to actually make a profit in the tourney circuit and cash games. Randomly re-watched the documentary on "Team Domeski" yesterday, based on a quick google search don't think any of them besides Jeff Williams are still on the circuit these days.
May go play tonight, cashed out just under $1200 off a $300 buy-in two weekends ago. Everybody will be entering the cash game after they bust out of the tournament so I’m hoping to run into some guys that are already lathered up and on tilt.
I’m glad I busted when I did. Got home and within 10 min the 17mo old had a seizure. Wife is on the phone with the doctor right now.
It is definitely harder now to make a run, but someone has to win. Look at Cada this year, deep run in the main than ships the last event of the year to grab his 3rd of bracelet I believe. Talent rises to the top over time, but yes you need a couple big breaks to make a final table run in these large field tournaments. I got a shit ton of reps in MTTs from about 07-12. (Party Poker cash game player before that). I have won many 10 rebuys or equal to, that had 8k enteants. Playing live just goes at a much slower pace, so I have to adjust my mindset a bit to control my inevitable impatience.
Thanks. Think we’re ok for now. This is the second seizure she’s had. We’re just going to have to monitor her closely for a few days and if any other symptoms come up take her to the ER.
I think I asked before but don't remember an answer. Anywhere to play online in the US now? I used to play on several of the sites back in the day before Black Friday. Been playing live since but can't get out as much with a kid now. Wife is out of town this weekend and I'm about to put the baby down so it'd be nice to hit some virtual felt.
It's not really a documentary, just 30 minutes and is basically them (UGA kids in 2007) talking about poker, a college party, and cringeworthy stuff from douche Justin Schwartz.
Cashed out at $705 off a $300 buy-in, so +405. Only played for about two hours, felt myself losing interest and there wasn’t a lot of easy money at the table. Going home to stream the Phish show.
Ignition/Bovada - most traffic, soft cash games, clunky software at times Winning Poker Network (America’s Cardroom) - best tournies, gets DDOS attacked a lot, tough cash games, fast transactions with bitcoin There’s some others like Global Poker and BetOnline, but not really comparable to the aforementioned.
My friend’s brother shipped that $250+100 yesterday. Guaranteed $15k, total prize pool ended up being $27k
Global poker, the one posted yesterday. Seems like they found a glitch that allows for play. You guy "gold coins" that can used to buy avatars and shit like that. I bought $50 worth and got 250k coins and they come with free "sweeps cash" with your purchase. You can then go to tables and play with your sweeps cash, which can later be cashed out for real money. So you buy the gold coins and get sweeps cash for free. I read several sites and all say its completely legal so I'll mess around on it for low stakes.
Watching the WSOP this year rekindled my poker interest. Going to head over to the WSOP circuit event Harrah's Cherokee Casino next weekend.
Ran $50 up to $290~ on a .50/1 table. Back down to $46 after back to back hands with AK/AQ where I flopped top pair and got called down by mid pair that turned into 2 pair on the river. Frustrating but that's poker.
We used to get 20 or so for weekly tourneys back in the day. I'm leery of gettin back online though ...
I would love to but I’m still hesitant until it becomes legal again. I’m hoping with the sports book betting opening up that it won’t be long until poker is available again.
Google Global Poker and read about it. What they are doing is legal. I'm not going to keep much on there at a given time so the risk is negligible.
Short of nationwide regulation Florida will do its best to drag its feet as long as possible thanks to the parimutuals and the Indians. Those political contributions are for a reason.
the burn out it also very real now. It takes so much effort and studying to get to the top of the game that once most of these guys get there, they "retire" within a year. Seems like poker isn't breeding lifers anymore.
