Yes. 11 Pro Max.
Apparently I just need to reboot my phone according to the comments in here.
watch 6 is pretty tempting, the blue color is real nice. I have the series 3 but have largely stopped wearing it. I think I need a different band.
App Library rules
weather widget rules
pinned texts rules
i went from 6 screens of apps to just Home Screen and library
After a few days of using 14 - it’s ok. It will be cooler when 3rd party apps can make widgets. I dont Have a ton of need for any of the native app widgets. Calendar is nice but that’s it.
I like iOS 14 so far but it’s unfortunate that some of these features should have been put in like ten years ago.
What are y’all’s favorite widgets so far?
I like Battery Grapher. Tells you how much time your battery has left and when to put it on charge before it hits 0%. The app isn’t very accurate when you first download it because it has to learn about your battery and how your usage drains it, but it gets more accurate the longer you have it installed.
no my phone is still bad and it feels bad I had to charge it like 6 times yesterday and also if apple wanted to buy Dark Sky why the fuck isn’t there a widget for it
Weather and clock right now
I’ve seen some custom home screens where they use the shortcuts app to make a shortcut to an app and you can customize the icon.
APple bought Dark Sky and it's no longer being developed.
Didn’t they just stop developing the android version and shut off the API?
They did do that, but the Apple app is no longer being developed as well.
Incoming call banner while in apps is great too
Yeah I loved that
A nice feature I don’t recall seeing being announced anywhere is receiving a notification on my phone when my watch is fully charged
Another is the watch displaying the nightstand mode if you’re using the sleep schedule feature in the clock app. So it will display it even the watch is on your wrist, not just when it’s charging.
Why did they kill the favorites widget? Annoying
No idea where you are but if there’s a UBreakiFix anywhere near you check them out. I dropped a weight on my phone at the gym (very heavy dumbbell as I’m a ripped Adonis) and totally destroyed the screen & bent the frame. They fixed it for like $200, granted it was an XR not an 11, but they were like $250+ cheaper than the other 2-3 quotes I got.
If you know a person who knows how to work on phones I’ve found that they’ll do it for like $20 on the side if you buy the part.
Looks like you can get a replacement for $119. It won’t be the same OEM display quality, but close enough for a kid’s phone.
Apple repair is $279 according to this page. I had to send into their central service last time I checked into this option, but you may have local service where you are.
quick summary how to make a custom home screen with widgets, shortcuts etc.
That shortcut flash thing is the most annoying thing. RIP custom iOS 4 app icons. You never had a chance.
Related: is there a reason NOT to get a new MacBook Pro right now?
Like, is there a new one coming out later that I should wait on or nah?
Apple is switching to in house chips over the next year or two. Whether they’ll be better is a question, but I’m hanging on for dear life to my 8 year old MacBook Air
Same. And I actually have some money right now to buy a new one and I’m very...undecided.
Anyone gonna try the new 14.2 public beta?
What is even new in it? I saw something about Shazam and something else that seemed largely pointless.
how do I do this?
When you long hold to move around apps or delete etc. there’s little white dots at the bottom, one for each screen.
Tap those dots and then all your screens pop up. You just uncheck them all except your Home Screen.
you are left with Home Screen. Widget Screen and App Library
Or if you just want to send one app to the App Library, long press to edit the screen, remove app, move to app library
anyone running the Big Sur public beta? I think they're on version 8
yep. on beta 8. a few builds were rough but 8 isn't bad
It feels ridiculous but I kinda want an iPad Pro to like sort through work emails in the evening while on the couch.
get an Air
iOS 14 is hurting the charge life of my 11 Pro. It's murdered my iPad Air 2
Dropped my X drunk last night. Shattered part of the screen. Usable. I planned on trading in for iPhone 12 Pro (or whatever they call it) and looked today...that is worth $280 today. Now ZERO
When you can order a 12, I will check trade-in again and what it costs locally to fix the screen.
Or sell it as is to get something.
Dammit. I've never broken a screen on any iPhone.
I didn't notice it at first but my phone(still on an 8+) is definitely not holding charge as well.
I already have a regular iPad.
the new Airs look like the Pros
But they aren’t big. Or Pro.
Pros are the only ones with screens large enough to read comics on
I read coming on a 10.4 iPad
That’s IMO too small the 12 inch iPad allows you to have the complete page on your screen without having to scroll. Not sure if I am explaining what I mean.
I don’t have to scroll
this what I mean. I haven’t been able to just have a page for page device unit I got my pro. I honestly got it for that specific reason.
I bought $1,000 comic book reader.
what a humble brag!
For example the dialogue in From Hell would be too small on anything else.
I’ve had it 5 years.
Just because you’re old and have presbyopia doesn’t mean that everyone here has the same problem.
Fine scroll when read your comics like a pleb
When's Big Sur being released?
