i have iCloud as part of my Apple TV sub but no thanks uploading pics and vids to someone else’s cloud
To the longevity of MacBook’s conversation: it should be noted that I treated mine like absolute garbage. it served as the sole POS for my liquor store for 3+ years. Ran hard and put up wet. Only issue I had was RAM cards popping loose during that time. Pretty amazing machine.
I don’t sync pictures to iCloud or anywhere and just start over with zero pictures when I get a new phone.
Seriously though all of my computers do weekly incremental backups to my server. All important files on the server are duplicated across two drives. The server itself is backed up to backblaze and I use a private encryption key - I also think it is much less likely that even if back blaze could get through the private encryption key that they would creepily snoop through the files ala a Google.
stupid t-mobile, get all the way through to review order, via the app, and then it says "oh, can't verify your identity, please call or order in store." fuck off
needing a tb is absurd. I have a 256gb and have like 10 years of photos on my phone and still have 73gb left over. I guess unless you store all music instead of stream it for some reason.
I don’t need nor have any desire for all the extras or bigger screen size that comes with the other models Also only got 128 GB. I’m barely even using half of the 128 GB that’s on my 13
This counts against Google One space now after they combined some services under that umbrella. They pulled a bait and switch on this. At one point they promised unlimited storage of photos at less than full res. I think even unlimited photo storage outright to some of their flagship phones. After 10+ years of photo backup, my gmail was suddenly held hostage until I paid up or made room. I just deleted them since it was redundant storage for me.
9to5Mac says no MFi for the USB-C port. JUst good ole regular USB-C, you no longer have to pay the Apple Tax for charging cables. https://9to5mac.com/2023/09/15/iphone-15-usb-c-port-compatibility/

Anyone ever use this site? https://therightpod.com/ I'd rather spend $80 for the one pod I've lost than $200 for a new pair but am hesitant.
I've never understood the hate for the Podcast app. I used the premium version of Overcast for years before switching back and don't feel like I'm missing out on anything.
I dont really care what app you use, I just feel like it's a silly tmb meme. Around iPhone 8 the podcast app got really bad imo. I switched to Pocket Casts and havent turned back. It wouldnt surprise if the stock app is useable again.
Also got the 256 pro max in natural titanium. I didnt order until the afternoon so now i have to wait until october 16.
