Soooo running away "with a gun in your pants" gives them reason to kill someone now? At no point did the guy pose any threat to the cop so the "I was in fear for my life!" bullshit excuse doesn't work here. Dude was just running away.
Cop was just too old and lazy to run after him. And then made no attempt to render aid afterward. Guy deserves the worst
is there a article or video of the cop claiming he thought there was gun? Cop seem pretty calm for someone who thought there was a gun. It seems pretty simple by watching the video. Cop felt disrespected by someone questioning his authority. Attempted to be a tough guy but was a fat POS (other guy didn’t really fight back) who couldn’t take down a guy who wasn’t fighting back and shot him for no reason. Cop needs to be in jail for murder if he killed that man.
The video description quotes the cop's attorney as saying the cop believed the guy was trying to hide a gun but it doesn't link any source to that quote
He already did. A Texas grand jury declined to indict him in 2022 when this happened. This video was just released as part of a civil case the guy’s mother filed last year.
:rhetorical question alert: how does a normal sane person watch that and think “oh that’s justified” . There is no way that cop thought there was a gun.
I don't know about the circumstances of the past here, but I don't really see a problem with how this particular cop handled this, particularly given that there was an arrest and conviction (4+ years) following this interaction.
The issue is not with this cop and this interaction, this guy has been stalking this family for years and police have not done anything.
I get that, but the sexual menacing, pedo guy lived in Oregon, the family of the girl lived in Ohio. I'm not sure how that works with local police forces and interstate investigations, but until the guy actually travelled to Ohio and showed up in the family's neighborhood, what could they realistically have charged him with? Online harassment? Also, not to victim blame here, but this is the downside of trying to monetize your kids' online content. Most of the laws and regulations and safeguards to try to stop kids from monster sexual predators pre-date the internet - they certainly predate youtube videos that feature children - and when you put your kids out there for the world to google, you'd better make goddamn sure they can't be easily tracked, because you're inviting trouble if some nutjob pedophile meth addict with a Jesus complex in Oregon can discern what cul-de-sac in Ohio your child lives on.
Ugh that's a tough one tbh. On one hand, kid takes off running and points a gun at them. No way for them to know it's a pellet gun. But then they tackle him and didn't need to shoot him at that point. All non real guns should be bright orange, fuck making them look like a real gun.
There is nothing “tough” about that one. They caught him and punched him/. There was absolutely no reason to shoot him. Ironically if they’d have shot him as soon as he pulled the gun out I’d have been more conflicted.
Oh hey weird this keeps happening https://www.complex.com/life/a/backwoodsaltar/timothy-loehmann-tamir-rice-west-virginia-pd Cop Who Fatally Shot Tamir Rice Hired at West Virginia Police Department
12 year old kid playing at a park. Cowards pull up to him in within seconds the kid is dead and people wonder why black people don’t think their lives matter. I’m glad some of you will never understand the fear and anger the police create in POC but I also wish you could feel it because then maybe things might change.
Everything that transpired here is wrong. Mind boggling that these inhumane, POS people exist. Surveillance video shows how an autistic teen died after 10 terrifying hours in Ohio jail
The worst body cam video they’ve ever seen *yet* Cops always have a way of one upping each other due to their lack of actual finding out.
Nothing is going wrong, that escalated so fast. The cops had no reason to be in her apartment. They knew she was high and wanted to come in to try to bust her for drugs. Why are they requesting to see her ID?
Hopefully every one of his loved ones and mentors that played a part in making him have to watch that every day for the rest of their lives
Even my dad, who is generally pro police (relax, he’s a union lifer that hits the campaign trail for the dems on behalf of the local) was like what the fuck that’s a murder immediately when it played on the news.
He chuckled when he told his partner he was wasting his time to get his kit. Hope he enjoys the rest of his life in prison.
Can you elaborate? Not saying he’s not a racist piece of shit, because he totally appears to be. Limited things I’ve seen point out a Nordic compass type of thing on the forearm, but that actually appears to be the partner. Just looking for clarification.
Is Illinois a death penalty state? Seems like it could be a good deterrent and if anybody deserves it, he does.
Hes going to be sent to protective custody for the rest of his life. So 40 or 50 years of being in a 10x8 room for 23 hours a day, three showers a week, all meals and activities alone, visits behind glass. That's worse than death IMO. Fuck em
The bar is so low for police officers I’m legitimately worried he’s going to be acquitted because he’s going to say he was in fear for his own safety when she picked up that pot and said that to him. I don’t agree but I could see that happening with the right juror
Fuck that. He has a million other options. Don't be deathly afraid of a lady hiding behind a cabinet bc you're pointing a gun at her is the best one, but backing up, or even going outside was an option. There was 1 option he couldn't do and that's the one he chose so fuck him.
