Oh absolutely just mind numbing he couldn't get a better deal coming out of Seattle. Obviously the one year deal in Boston worked out.

Looking back on it Beltre and Rizzo manning the corners <3

Top 5 3B according the bWAR unless you include A Rod, then he's 6th. I can't believe people were actually questioning whether or not he was HOF worthy a couple of years ago.

    Is Palmeiro underrated?

Easily one of the best hitters of the steroid era. 70 fWAR career.

definitely agree with maddux and smoltz being better, but i dont know if glavine was overrated.

His last 4 years were nothing special but:

-member of 300 wins club (only 23 ever)
    -10 time all star
    -2 Cy youngs
-Finished 2nd 2 other times, finished 3rd 2 other times
-so 6 seasons being top 3 in Cy Young voting is pretty damn good
    -World series MVP
-5 time NL leader in wins
-Only pitcher to throw 2 shutouts at coors field (random stat thats awesome)

He's not close to being the greatest pitcher ever and no one will ever mention him in that category, but he was in that 2nd tier of pitchers that are certain Hall of Famers. Properly rated imo

Both guys are underrated, it's like baseball came so easy to them it looked like they weren't trying that hard and some people mistook that for indifference...if that makes any sense. Drew just had unrealistic bullshit expectations thrust upon him where if he didn't hit .400 with 40 HRs his rookie year idiots thought he was a bust

was looking at some overrated/underrated lists yesterday and saw Charles Nagy on the overrated list and was confused. Did people actually think he was more than an above average pitcher in the 90's? :idk:

There seem to be a lot of Braves fans in the thread, so I'll throw out Warren Spahn.

    -14 times All Star
-5 times top 3 Cy Young (introduced as an award halfway through his career)
    -13 different 20 win seasons
-363 career wins, most of any player after the end of the dead ball era

. . . Spahn then Sain, then pray for rain.

Better one-two punch than Glavine and Maddox?

Only half joking about the more recent Braves. Sain never had the longevity of the other 1990's and 2000's guys. For a short stretch post WWII, however, you could argue that the Braves had the best two pitchers in the National League.

I mean there's a pretty big gap between .493 and .435 wOBA and nearly 40 point gap in OBP. All the hyperbole about Ted Williams is pretty well justified. You were right though, nobody should laugh at Barry Bonds unless it's about his growing melon or effeminate voice.

Most underrated Simpsons softball player: It's obvious that Ken Griffey Jr. was the star of that team but gets labeled as a cheater for being sidelined with gigantism. I have to say Wade Boggs, who would have been a superstar if he had not argued with Barney Gumble that Lord Palmerston was a better English Prime Minister than Pitt the Elder.

Not when you factor in Williams losing three seasons when he was playing the best baseball of his career to the war. If Williams didn't miss those seasons he would've likely finished his career with over 3000 hits, over 600 home runs, and over 2000 RBIs. All that with a career batting average around .340. Williams really is the greatest hitter in history but the closest to him would probably be Bonds. Some could argue for Cobb too as the guy could hit home runs if he wanted to but that just wasn't his thing.

Maybe. It's hard to even compare any of the different eras really. All I was getting at to begin with is that Pete Rose is overrated and doesn't belong in the same category as any of them.
