These aren’t exactly close to each other. Avondale area is fine as long as you are south of the tracks. Back 40 is more Lakeview warehouse area but if you are talking about condos near there should be fine
What are the neighborhoods I should be looking? I've only ever stayed in Hoover or driven in from the lake.
If you want to be close to downtown and dining and nightlife: Avondale, Crestwood, Glen Iris/five points (east side), and Gate City are great options
Issue is i think Airbnbs are banned in Homewood, mtn brook vestavia. (as they should) I would find one in Hoover.
It’s taking Stone Cold Steve Austin a concerning amount of time to figure out how to search air bnbs by their proximity to a Milo’s
I think the airbnb in Roebuck would probably be fine. But you're gonna have to drive everywhere. Also, LOL at the other one. I did a double take...but gonna give you benefit of the doubt that you're being serious.
Stone Cold Steve Austin lives right by It'sAlwaysSunnyInAthens favorite restaurant Baumhowers and likely has some extra space for some boys to stay.
I was actually just looking at the Baumhowers and it appears to be closed? May have to pick a new destination. WTF.
I am in Birmingham all the time but my friends have never been. Probably taking them to my favorite locals only burger spot. Shake shack at the summit.
I have spent a lot of time in what many consider to be the “rough” areas of Birmingham, and I guffawed at the first one.
I think that might be the last place I’d stay in Birmingham. That said from looking on Google Street view there’s been some revitalization that’s taken place between 2015 and 2023. Maybe we are a year or two away from a brewery popping up and Airport Village being the most gentrified hot spot in town.
In my previous life, I represented an out of town real estate agent in a dispute with his partners over a bunch of houses they bought in East Lake right by Gate City with the intention of flipping. Some kind of data that they paid a lot to get said that it was prime for profitable flips. I guess its relative proximity to Crestline/Crestline Park/Crestwood skewed things. Predictably, they lost their asses and all sued each other.
I am excited to try Joyland but also sad that it won’t last 3 years because the only thing that could have succeeded in that spot was something as unique and as big of a draw as Bottletree
Vestavia location on Hwy 31 still open. The Lee Branch location down Hwy 280 closed. It'sAlwaysSunnyInAthens
Can anyone explain why everyone from the Midwest driving to and from the Gulf just cruise in the fast lane going at or just under the speed limit on 65?
I’m sure Joyland will be good and I like smash burgers and fried chicken as much as the next guy. But could we possibly get a little more variety to open? There are three new fried chicken places opening in Vestavia right now. That stuff just seems so oversaturated right now.
Exactly. A medium rare Fon Fon burger gets the same Maillard reaction on the outside and lovely, not overcooked meat on the inside.
But you'd have to use good beef to make that happen... (this is always my thought eating a smash burger)
Man I see them every day this time of year. Especially Friday after work. It's always the same Indiana Tag minivan packed with a top loader. Kids in the back on ipads and a fat white couple in t shirts in the front row just cruising 68 MPH in the left hand lane.
I can't tell you how much joy it brings me to see others hating Hoosiers for being terrible drivers and disgusting humans
Has anyone had success fighting property value with Jefferson County? My house value went up 33% YoY to them. I filed the initial protest, sent in evidence and they increased the value of my house by $15,000 just to fuck with me. They told me it was based on my evidence and their appraiser, and have refused to give me a copy of the appraisal.
Squeaky wheel gets the grease Spoiler I am not aware of anyone having luck with that and know someone else who lost fighting it. My home’s appraised value was mysteriously within like a dollar of the Zestimate value at the time.
The burgers are pretty good, but the breakfast and fried chicken are both really good. The chicken is a smaller version of Oxford's chicken on a stick, but you can get it dusted in seasoning or dipped in a sweet/hot sauce. The sack sausage biscuits are my breakfast go to. It's harder to find now, but my grandmom used to always make Mayo's country sausage and the sausage they use on the biscuit reminds me of it. https://www.cadescovefoods.com/all-products/mayos-hickory-smoked-sausage
In the last 3 years my house has gone up 20% down 10% up 30% it just tells me they have no clue what they are doing.
It’s not a traditional appraisal report you’re accustomed to seeing when applying for a mortgage. Municipalities use AVMs (automated valuation model)
Yeah I figured it wasn’t a traditional appraisal but am I wrong they should be able to get me something that details their valuation? From emailing with them it seems like they have something but won’t share it.
