My ranking for this season: 1. Black Museum 2. USS Calister 3. Arkangel 4. Hang the DJ 5. Crocodile 6. Metalhead Other than those first two I thought they were mostly meh (they are still very good, that’s just in comparison to all other Black Mirror episodes)
Not reading through the whole thread because I've only watched 3 episodes so far, but I feel like the praise I'm seeing for USS Callister on the internet is a little over the top. I thought it was good but there was something missing about it. I honestly think it was because the whole escape plot didn't really vibe with what I expect from Black Mirror. Lots to like about it but it seemed more like a bad movie to me than a good episode of Black Mirror.
So, does a good Black Mirror episode have to end in a totally fucked up and depressing manner? I'm a huge Star Trek fan, so I might have been viewing it through rose tinted glasses. I still thought it was one of the best and most unique episodes of television I've ever seen; loved it. Black Museum was great too. Also, this is just fucking hilarious.

My Netflix switched from the end of season 1 to the first episode of season 4 somehow. Got through the first episode before I noticed. USS McCallister was fucking awesome!
Thought this season was really good despite a fair amount of criticism online. Starting to think expectations are just too high for this show. For me Hang the DJ USS Callister Black Museum (almost a Tales from the Crypt episode) Crocodile Metalhead Arkangel Enjoyed all of them.
thought the same thing after watching McCallister. was talking about it with a few friends and was the first one any of us could remember having a "happy ending" - since the captain was seen as a bad guy don't care what happened to him. Hang the DJ had one as well. Kinda enjoy watching these that don't make me feel weird as shit at the end and actually have somewhat good ending. Not expecting that for the rest.
I loved Crocodile. Basically reminded me of Minority Report in some aspects. Furthermore the cinematography and landscape (Iceland) was perfect for this story.
This was my least favorite episode. But I didn't think it was bad. Maria (I still find it difficult to take this actress seriously after her Mad Men eps lol) basically set herself up to be helicopter parent after Sara disappearing as a child. You could tell that she was never actually going to give up looking at the tablet. The thing that freaked me out the most was the ability for the tablet controller to censor what your child could see. I can think of a number of kids that I knew in HS that had parents who would do the same. I thought the ending was fitting. It leaves a lot of possibilites open for Sara.
Just finished watching 2&3 which were final ones for me. Callister Black Museum Hang the DJ Archangel Tie for would not recommend: crocodile and metal head. Couldn’t get into either. Crocodile get rushed and just thrown together. Metalhead was kinda predictable and boring. Rest of them were top notch. Only really liked ~5 episodes in previous seasons combined. This season was really good.
Finished season 4 last night. For me: -Black Museum -- loved all the throwbacks to the older episodes -Archangel -- I really liked it, not sure of all the hate it gets. Really like how it showed how fucked up she was from being protected her whole life. Ending was a bit predictable -Callister -- loved everything except the ending -Hang the DJ -- cool concept, kind of predictable -Crocodile -- thought the technology bit/harvesting memories was really cool, but was a little absurd, even for Black Mirror standards. Really rushed -Metalhead -- did not enjoy
I liked it too. Wasn't expecting much after reading this thread but I liked it a lot. Some minor plot holes but still pretty intense.
I haven’t watched the last episode yet but the only one I thought was just ok was Crocodile. I enjoyed it but not as much as all the other episodes so far.
