SEC kinda took it on the chin in week 1 too in the marquee ooc games outside of UGa slaughtering Clemson, A&M, LSU, and UF all lost. and all 3 of those games were considered coin toss or outright SEC wins going in
I think it's perhaps surprising how dominating a win it was but I don't think Miami-Florida was a coin toss. Florida sucks and everyone already knew that going into it.
fair, but Vegas and advanced metrics (I'm aware of the lag) thought it would be close. SP+ had the final score 30.1 UF to 29.8 UM
Especially in the new era of college football with the portal these teams change a ton year to year. Florida was selling all sorts of lies to their insiders to try and build hype. They essentially went full fyre fest and convinced everyone they would be better than they are.
aTm losing a big game is as predictable as death and taxes. Even so, they get the slightest pass due to a new regime. LSU losing, to me, was the biggest embarrassment of all the marquee losses. Everyone knew what would happen with Clemson and Florida (and shocker, it happened!) but LSU falling flat on opening weekend for the 5th (!) year in a row was a real treat. And then the Kelly presser and the realization that this is what they signed up for…it’s just too sweet.
besides it being at Kyle, I never got why A&M was favored in that game ND had almost every other advantage going in
Everyone? Let’s pumped down the hyperbole. Who did they convince? Didn’t see any Florida fans here thinking that Billy’s team would be good. Just waiting til he’s gone.
History suggests they can. Even if they don't they are a miserable team to have to play right after Georgia. Massive scheduling error.
now that the high from boatracing the Gators has died off I'm not ashamed to admit I spent a solid 15 minutes today trying to decipher which ACC game is the one they are going to lose out of nowhere like the past 20 years
Well considering the spread was 2.5, the predictions were split on gameday, the line didn't shift in either direction leading up to the game which would give evidence to smart money pouring in on either side, and pretty much every gator "insider" was saying they'd been told of big improvements with the team, they sure did enough to convince people that they weren't complete trash. (FSU and UF are having the same issue right now where all of the beat writers/insiders are saying they were sold a lie with each team) Also "better than what they are" doesn't mean "good"
oh trust me, if it was anyone other than FAMU, I'd be nervous as shit. at GT, at Cal, or Wake are the ones that stick out to me.
Think that had more to do with people not trusting Cristobal than anything else. Miami is notorious for stepping on their own dicks with superior talent. Been that way since Coker got shitcanned and started with his staff If Miami consistently played up to the talent level they should be on (ON PAPER) they'd always finish at the very least in the top 25 on a yearly basis I personally need to see more before I decide if miami is actually "Good" or if Florida is just a horrific dumpster fire of dogshit
miami is gonna breeze through regular season they added the grown ups at the needed spots in the off-season
I got them projected at 11-1 with 10-2 still more likely than 12-0 but they should be favored in every game left and favored by double digits in 9 or 10 of them Spoiler
you aren't wrong. But the one thing your or any model can't account for is a dumb ass coach refusing to kneel the ball in a one score game.
Notre Dame’s schedule is laughable but having that much faith in Franklin to beat OSU and USC is hilarious. Guy is an automatic 2 loss coach
for comparison, I have. one thing to note is the FPI win out metric attempts to factor in probability of winning a conference title game. my numbers are strictly to go 12-0 in regular season
Barron and Barrow appear to have been wise investments same with the big belly C from Hoosierland grown men on the lines always travels well just need to avoid the QB turning into a potato for the 4th season in a row
How does Michigan have such a shit qb room if any of their qbs were even above average id be at least a little worried since it’s at Ann Arbor
Didn't Harbaugh rely on numerous transfers and stop gap qbs? Ruddock and Patterson come to mind Feel like JJ is the only HS qb he actually developed in 8 years
