Hastings did an episode of hardcore history that’s probably my favorite addendum. Def worth a listen if you haven’t heard it before
You have to do whatever you can do to play this last half inning. And the relievers better not frick it up.
Huge win , huge series. Major upgrade over what we've had for a long time. Awesome. Also Chris Stewart on the call is so good
We're up to #8 in the RPI, 15-12 in the SEC, 39 wins, 19 wins vs Q1/2. Take 2 of 3 in Gainesville (will not be easy) and we have a real shot to host.
Hell of a response after the opener. If we take the series from UF next weekend and find a win in Hoover, I think we’re firmly in the hosting pool.
Man Vaughn has been a hell of a hire. From not winning a single conference series a few years ago to winning conference series against top 10 teams.
He raises the floor here dramatically, which is super impressive given our lack of investment in NIL compared to most of this conference in the sport.
Jones looks like he has really good defensive and rebounding numbers (great rebounding, active defense - steals/blocks). He only has taken 72 threes in 63 games at CSN, though.
he also can run the offense which is nice. Should be able to play him in a similar role to Herb did his senior year.
Makes sense - his percentages aren't terrible (33% overall, 34.4% last year), so he seems like a guy who can do it enough to force teams to guard it. A little bit more of the Mo/Herb role. Also, per the Youtube transfer portal guy video, he shot 59% eFG% on catch and shoot shots (85th percentile). Very good sign.
absolutely. Definitely think he could be a good piece for us. A lot of upside. Seems like just the type of 3 guy we need that can kinda do a bit of everything. Defends. Rebounds. Runs the offense. Can shoot. Perfect replacement for Mo leaving us.
Looking for a new rowing coach. Demanding more. Release from Alabama Athletics: Glenn Putyrae has made the decision to step down as head coach of Alabama rowing following his seventh season at the helm. “I am thankful to have had the opportunity to serve as head coach of Alabama rowing for the past seven years,” Putyrae said. “This decision did not come easily, however it was the right one for us at this time to be more available and present for my family. I’m proud of our accomplishments on the water and in the classroom and appreciate the student-athletes and staff for their contributions to the program and for laying the foundation for future success.” Putyrae arrived in Tuscaloosa in June of 2018 following his second stint as head coach at Gonzaga. The 2019 Big 12 Coach of the Year guided the Tide to its first appearance in the NCAA Championship regatta in 2021 and led Alabama to a trio of second-place finishes (2019, 2021, 2022) and a pair of top-three finishes (2023, 2024) at the Big 12 Championships. Putyrae’s teams have spent multiple weeks in the Pocock CRCA Top 25 poll while also boasting 17 All-Big 12 honorees and the program’s first All-American. Academically, the Tide has had 31 Collegiate Rowing Association Scholar Athletes under Putyrae’s watch along with two CSC Academic All-Americans. “We appreciate Coach Putyrae and all he’s helped contribute to Alabama rowing over the last seven years,” said Alabama Director of Athletics Greg Byrne. “He took our program to new heights, and we wish Glenn and his family all the best going forward.” A national search will begin immediately for the Crimson Tide's next head coach.
