Lebby might be a good X’s and O’s guy, but attaching ourselves to such a main player in the Art Briles saga would be very gross. I want Saban to have the fire to win, and it appears he does, but not like that.

There are so many good options that don't involve a guy that sold fucking "Free Art Briles" shirts and was personally named by rape victims as someone who covered up their accusations. Like jesus christ I hope Saban is smart enough to realize hiring a guy like Lebby is a total unforced error. It's not like you're bringing in some genius. The guy has coached under some great offensive minds but he's never shown he can do it by himself at a high level. it's simply not worth selling your soul over. Auburn hiring Freeze was gross and shitty but I can at least acknowledge they were desperate enough to make the decision. We aren't.

I was told when we first started contact that he wanted control over personnel groups, and Saban didn’t exactly care for that
i really can’t express how fucking furious i will be if we hire him. this would forever change my opinion of saban for the worse
Jeff Lebby has called plays as an OC for all of one year. He’s also got a good chance of being out of a job next year unless Venables looks less clueless than this past season. I don't see how he would have any leverage to demand anything. And that's before you even begin to account for him being a total scumbag.
I wasn't joking when I said this a few weeks ago. There's really not any indication that Jeff Lebby is an elite, can't miss coach. And especially not enough to ignore the clearly obvious personal flaws. If you're willing to hire someone who helped cover up and excuse sexual assault, you should hire Art Briles. If you aren't going to have any morals about this, why stop at Lebby.
The longer this things drags out the more I like Owsley ’s suggestion Brian Johnson. If we can’t have him or Mullen throw the bank at Kliff

Lebby would be a disgraceful hire at any time due to his past, but given that an athlete just murdered a woman who rejected his advances, hiring him now just seems incredibly tone deaf to the issue of women's safety at the university.
