I don’t think the 9ers will fire him. However I think it is very possible Kyle is burnt out and doesn’t want to return. He has looked exhausted all year is staring into another retool/rebuild. Not sure if that would be him taking a year off or jumping to another situation though.
The issue with Kingsbury is they thought he would leave for a HC job if successful. It was fairly unbelievable.
Kingsbury has a losing record in both of his head coaching gigs. Why would anyone think the third time would be different? He’s a new age Dave Wannstedt. Nice guy that looks and talks the part, can’t coach for shit. Some guys just aren’t head coaches.
the way they’re making it sound is that Warren with the guidance of McCaskey is telling Poles what they want
I said this the other day... McCaskey is 100% making all the calls. He hired Flus, he hired Poles and then he hired Warren and told the media... I have nothing to do with football moving forward I'll just be a fan. But that is total bullshit. And the city of Chicago and the media still hasn't put the spotlight where it truly belongs... George. People can make all the excuses they want for him firing Lovie. But that was a playoff team with good advance metrics. Lovie was respected in that locker room and he was owed the chance to retool. He never should've been fired and ever since this franchise has been in hell and all of that goes hand in hand with when George took over.
Originally I believe it was leaked as a unnamed source... but he put a name on it I guess. All this ra ra shit he believes in his core. Wasn't Flus a leader of men? A guy who is an amazing communicator and had so many systems in place... Keep George the fuck out of this decision or we will ruin another QB and be in hell for another half dozen years.
I wonder what will happen in the post-Virginia shake up. I think I read the families 80% gets split up between 13 of them but not all 13 have voting power. If any of them want to sell I’m pretty sure Pat Ryan has the right of first refusal.
Get a new stadium built on the lake... eventually sell the team. Then bring a new team to Arlington.... just sayin.
I’m more in the pro-Poles camp as well but the obvious issue is that they keep pairing new coaches/gm with their counterpoint on the hot seat. If they struggle next year too and miss the playoffs, poles is going to have trouble keeping his job.
The guy who is working hand in hand with George is going to run the show? So in other words George is going to be hands on with the new coaching hire. Its a fucking shame that George can openly lie just 3 years ago about stepping away from the football operations side of the organization to focus on the stadium. And when a coach needs to be fired Poles needs to have a 3+ hour meeting to convince George to OK it. And now when a new search is going to be launched he's going to be in the room for it all. And yet the media who covers this team doesn't have an issue with it.
H&J had a mini pod about Jahns article. Only things not in the article. The players esp on def were super pissed how they handled the Stevenson punishment and that they allowed it to leak that he “walked out of practice”. Then Hoge said he’s been bombarded with 2 texts from league sources and noted “very high up sources”. 1 coaches/GMs are super pissed they made Eberflus do that press conference. 2 that Brown is very impressive and will be a head coach someday.
Brown looks the part in the press conference... The close of this season will be huge for his future as a HC in this league. I don't think its in Chicago but he could wipe away the disaster that was Carolina.
rumors from the Detroit end of things that Johnson wants nothing to with the Bears org and things like this play a lot into it I’m sure a blank check can change things but id put my money on him ending up with the Bengals or elsewhere
Obviously people have different sources, but a lot of national media think he passed on jobs last year for the Bears gig. And a lot of national media seem to think he would be very interested in Chicago now that the job is open. Again national media vs local... who really knows. Outside of an idiot owner, roster + Cap + Draft Capital, I don't think there is a better job available this off-season.
If the 49ers season falls apart and Shannahan becomes available, what would you give up for him? A 2 this year and next years 1?
He seems to be liked in the locker room. I could see a front loaded 2 year deal being something that could make sense. Saw a video today of our WR coach who basically said Keenan has been running some offensive team meetings since Waldron has been fired. That's a credit to him but also a huge red flag if I was the GM or Owner of this franchise. That same coach said that Keenan knows more about football and coverages than he does... cool for Allen but i'm not sure I want to share that with my co-workers.
Yeah different guy. But Evans was on the team last year and had decent success. He’s fine. Perfectly suitable backup if swift can’t go or gets injured
The only way this organization will ever find a top notch coach and QB is to luck into one. We may have lucked into the QB…let the Thomas Brown era begin.
Travis Homer? Didn't even know he was still on the team and he gets the ball on our first key third down. Interesting!
