Sure the bullpen is awful again guys but think of all the money Ricketts saved by dumping bellinger and not spending it.
I could be wrong but a lot of people were wary that we were signing used goods again. I think his peripherals were all down but I might be mistaken
I'm on cloud nine thinking about how much we're gonna make from suing the rooftop owners I love how Ricketts is slowly sapping the life from Wrigleyville, the one unique feature the Cubs had over every other franchise Just real good times and I don't wanna kill myself thinking about it
if it makes you feel any better Ricketts spent more money getting a fascist elected president then he did on the bullpen
I drive by Wrigley at least once a week and it’s honestly such a downer how much the area has been made into SoDoSoPa.
This here is why Cubs fans should actually build Pedro Strop a statue instead of somehow thinking he sucked. Dude was mostly great his entire run in Chicago
Nice to see we didn't blow a game with 18 runs scored! Progress I hate these west coast trips... I'm too old to stay up and watch the games.
Shows how rare it is for relievers to be great for a long period of time. Makes you appreciate guys like Hoffman and Rivera even more
I hope Merryweather can stay healthy because I think he’s back to his 2023 form. And that would be massive for this pen
Lineup is so much deeper this year without the black hole that was guys like Wisdom, Mastrobuoni, and first half Amaya.
When he’s at his best, he’ll still need to subsist on batters chasing on the curve because he’s a two pitch pitcher. But he’s far less likely to get chase when a lot of his pitches are wholly uncompetitive. I know he is and should be a starting pitching in this rotation at some point, but I’d way rather him work on command and a third reliable pitch in Iowa for the next month. Rea is going to end up pitching 4 innings today anyways. He should be the fifth starter. I get he’s not the sexy option or whatever, but he’s a proven successful pro starter.
I know it wasn’t a home run offseason, but this team really is so much better because they improved the bench and (imo) the bullpen. They won 83 games last year but there were so many catastrophic fuck ups caused by the backend of the lineup/rotation/pen. That hopefully won’t happen this year. Going with Justin Turner instead of wisdom is so massive.
How the fuck are you blaming that on Pressly. He got the inning ending double play ball and Turner just dropped it. Blame Counsell for not switching Busch in to play 1B after he pinch hit.
Agree to disagree I see very little difference between both teams Last year we were off to a decent start, too
he walked the leadoff hitter in a one run game right? Also gave up a single? It’s ok to miss a bat on occasion as a closer.
Wait a minute I thought there’s no way a pending ufa would sign a deal before hitting ufa. I wish I rooted for a team that has blue jay money
Dude…the only reason we got Tucker was because he’s not willing to sign an extension. He is going to free agency. He is starting a bidding war
