Was mentioned earlier but it is kind of amusing to me the CFP rankings will be out by Bama/LSU game and it won’t be 1 vs 2 like has been built up for weeks.
Memphis and SMU are both very relevant right now. They have stakes they are playing for too since whoever wins likely gets to play on New Year’s Day; possibly against Georgia or Florida. Last week they talked about NDSU; an FCS team that is relevant enough that voters are ranking in the top 25. Just because Gameday isn’t going to talk about the SEC for the umpteenth time doesn’t mean who they are talking about isn’t relevant in college football. There is a large portion of the college football fanbase that doesn’t give as much of a shit about the SEC as the general SEC fan would like to believe.
I’ll assume you mean relevant in regards to the CFP. I hate to burst your bubble, but the only relevancy Georgia or Florida have for the CFP is by being who LSU or Bama throttles in the SEC championship game to cement their place in the top 4
That's more of a chance than SMU or Memphis have. I get that you're a G5 homer so this is pointless. Yay let's take Gameday to a game with 30k in the stands rather than a top 8 matchup. Cool.
you would think dbl would know something like this about the place where Bear Bryant coached his last game. sad!!
lol Memphis is running a $9.01 flash sale on tickets to the Nov. 2 SMU game through Wednesday at 11:59 p.m., the university said in a release. To purchase tickets during the flash sale, fans must log on to http://www.GoTigersGoTix.com and enter promo code GAMEDAY. There is a limit of eight tickets that can be purchased at this special 901 flash sale price.
No one said they have a chance for the CFP just like the other 124 out of the 130 FBS teams including Florida and Georgia. By your logic gameday would be at Bama, LSU, Ohio St, or Clemson every week this year. That sounds like compelling TV for 12 weeks. not to mention, who gives a fuck where gameday is. It’s not like they only talk about the teams and game at their location for 3 hours. It’s such a weird thing to be butt hurt about where Gameday goes. If you don’t want to watch the Memphis/SMU game in front of however many fans, that’s fine; don’t. There will be games on other channels at the same time 8 hours after gameday finishes
Not really, I rarely watch gameday regardless of where it is. It’s just too cringy to listen to the once interesting Corso who is now basically a cartoon character of himself. My interest is with the posters in here that are all mad about it. it’s such a weird thing to be mad at
The only time gameday is worth watching is when they go somewhere like South Dakota State or Memphis.
I love gameday and appreciate that they try to go to more college campuses than just the traditional football schools, especially when they’ve already done other campuses in the past. Big games will get enough hype and publicity as is, so what’s the harm in hyping up a lesser known matchup?
The sob story human interest pieces are awful. The cool part is the different campus backgrounds and signs etc. Therefore I’d prefer to see different schools every week except in the event it’s my school
I'm the complete opposite. Couldn't care less about signs or background but like the human interest pieces bc they give me someone to root for.
We should be, but we won’t be. The committee isn’t going to screw up a 1 v 2 matchup by putting Bama at 3. The committee wants the hype and TV ratings. Ohio State will beat Maryland that weekend and move to 2 when the Bama/LSU loser drops out. Ohio State/Penn State then becomes a 2 v 3 matchup if both take care of business.
No, but why would the committee fuck up a 1 v 2 matchup when there is no down side to ranking Ohio State at 3?
Was it really a waste for the network though? They are still going to get hellacious ratings for this game. I'm sure the ratings for ND/UGA benefited from being primetime.
