So I finally cut the cable. I’m just getting to know the YTTV layout and one thing that is bothering me is when you set a record option it doesn’t allow you to record longer than the time slot available or start recording earlier. Is there a way to change that? I love F1 and sometimes because of a crash or bad weather they can go past the two hour original window. Second issue is with the shows I set my DVR for.. it list multiple older episodes as needs to be watched. Can I do something to get rid of that without actually watching a repeat. Basically does YTTV have a DVR setting since I can’t locate it lol
Yeah it's an adjustment to get used to trusting it unlike your traditional DVRs but as others said, it always adjusts. One awesome thing about it, if you haven't figured it out yet, is that you don't have to worry about remembering to record each race, quali session, etc. Just search F1 within YTTV and it'll let you record all F1 content.
Congratulations Finn Baller! I don't know if you can do it on a TV/streaming device, but on the phone you can mark all episodes as watched. And like others have said, it will automatically record the whole event. I've only had it screw up once or twice on not properly recording something and I've probably had it for around 2 years now. Obviously not perfect but pretty damn reliable. Be sure to set it up to record each wrestling show if you want to record it. Don't think you can have it record everything WWE or AEW, got to make a recording for RAW, Smackdown, Dynamite, Rampage, etc. But once you set it up for each show it will record every episode.
Is YTTV the consensus best now? I need something basically for sports; we watch very little TV otherwise, but have Netflix/Amazon/Hulu/Disney+ already. I bought whatever the new Chromecast is that has a remote when they were on sale at Xmas, still haven't used it (since I found my old Chromecast 4K).
Or the Bally Sports network. I can't watch local NBA, NHL, or MLB games. Not that I really care about the first two
It should automatically adjust any recording. Can sometimes run into issues if you are recoding and watching live and catch up, but for 99% of the time, you’re good
Same boat. How is YTTV on fire sticks? That is the main streaming device throughout our house. I have U-verse now and I think our main channels are covered and local stations I think cover me for Orlando City.
Not sure if there is a tool that can check local availability. I found that my market did not carry all available 4k sports programming that was available elsewhere on YTTV or other platforms. I’m way overpaying based on what I see available to me so far. It’s like 1-2 CFB I’m not interested in per week and that’s about it. Hoping NFL broadcasts get their shit together this season.
I've had yttv 4k for about 9 months and I'd say the value is questionable simply because there's so few live sports. But the quality itself is amazing, especially for football. If you watch a lot of Premier League it's probably a bit more worthwhile ... seems like I see more soccer in 4k than other sports for whatever reason. I've mentioned elsewhere itt but make sure you use the native yttv app instead of your fire stick or cube when watching sports in 4k. Picture quality of yttv 4k content streamed through a fire stick is materially worse than if you just use your smart TV interface.
So I’ve largely been happy with TYTV but I do have an issue with the picture quality for HBO shows. Especially the new GoT series. Is there a picture quality setting I can mess with through the app?
Click down while watching and left about 3 clicks and you should get to the program resolution settings.
I haven't been tempted by the 4k add on yet either but I will be adding the extra Sports package add on, on Sunday again. RedZone baby!!!
They may rename it in the the future, but the 4k add-on is basically a pseudonym for YTTV Plus/Pro etc... basically all the feature a (sports) enthusiast would want. 4k and some 4k HDR Discovery ESPN FOX Sports FOX Sports PLus FX Nat Geo NBC Sports 1 NBC Sports 2 Tastemade MLB Network MLB Game of the Week NBA TV unlimited streams when at home. offline viewing (meh) Rumoured split screen or "mosaic mode". They should use a better name to market it to sports viewers than that, however. I think Fubo has this feature. Google has the best video player in the game (YT), and the sources on the rumor are strong, so I expect this to arrive somewhat soon and be pretty cool with regards to quality and layout etc. But I'm a yttv homer. as far as your question Sub-Zero , here is what I see in the next 3 days in 4k. I will say, if it's on ESPN, its unlikely to be available in 4k. ESPN is the worst network for 4k coverage.
and if you want to join, this link gives a few bucks off my bill and $15 off your first month. https://tv.youtube.com/referral/r1fw69jm4f3hs9
Yeah not sure $20/month is worth it for us and I don't think we would typically go above 3 streams in our house just on YTTV when we also use Netflix, Disney+, etc. Can always switch to ESPN+ for secondary games too. The Mosaic Mode is the only thing I think I'll keep a close eye on and how that works and with what "tiers" of service. Still hilarious with all the investments in 4K hardware that actual live content still isn't there
Yeah. I pay for it and think of it as similar to PPV or small surcharge. If I watch 7 games in 4k per month, it's $3 basically extra to see a game in 4k. The EPL is glorious and a proper 4k (and HDR?) production. Even watching the 4k channel at 1080 is a massive improvement. Golf does a very good job as well. Olympics are pretty special too. You just have to watch out for them uprezzing a 1080/720 feed. But you're right, its sad how little the US rights holders are investing in 4k production pipelines bc its such a substantial improvement when they actually do so.
We have the Disney+/ESPN+/Hulu bundle. We want to cancel Hulu while keeping the other two. Has anyone done this?
I had a similar issue with that, but only on my amazon firesticks. I think the fix was to disable hdr for me.
Oh wow thanks so much there is absolutely nothing else to watch all day Saturday and Sunday this week.
Apple TV+ now included with T-Mobile Magenta Max. Our last two iPhones came with a year each, so I’m already out to August ‘23 anyway.
Paramount Plus Q: I have the the Limited Commercials plan (monthly) that is no longer available to new sign-ups. $5/mo. I have been offered a free sub to the Essential plan via Walmart Plus. Besides Local CBS, will I lose any thing else if I make the switch?
Should be the same for what I can tell. I’m going to see if they are offering an upgrade add-on, because the ads are slightly annoying.
So I purchased the trio package from YTTV that has Stars/HBO/Showtime. But I also have a Paramount + sub... What's the play for me in this case
Showtime content on Paramount+ is an add-on so depends on rather you want to be paying for it through YTTV or through Paramount+ I'd go with whichever is cheaper.
Is anyone aware of a way to get rid of certain suggested programs on yttv? I have removed Fox News from my live guide, but for some reason, I get suggested Waters World every night at 730 pm. It’s annoying by itself, but I have my parents coming into town for a week, and I’d like to be able to say I don’t get Fox News, so they’re not tempted to watch.
What do you mean by suggested? Are you talking about the Top Picks For You section on the Home tab? If so, I believe it just gets better at learning your preferences over time therefore it should stop suggesting certain things if you never click on it and/or never watch that channel.
Yeah. And after a bit more Googling, it appears the problem was that I was not sharing my history with YouTube, so it wasn’t learning. Hopefully that fixes the problem
Comcast would be interested in acquiring Hulu if Disney decides to sell the streaming platform, according to Comcast CEO Brian Roberts. It’s an assertion which suggests Comcast is not about to make it easy for Disney to buy out the 33% stake in Hulu that Comcast currently owns. “Hulu is fantastic, it has a wonderful platform, and I believe if it was for sale, put up for sale [by Disney], Comcast would be interested, but so would a lot of other tech and media companies,” Roberts said at the Goldman Sachs Communicopia + Technology Conference this week.
Comcast would be smart to buy Hulu, they can dump the money losing Peacock, get it for a good price and go all in on Hulu.
