I was unable to find the thread, was it lost in the Great Crash of 2015? I recently cut and was curious what services and accessories you all use. Any advice?
Just got Ruko and a tv to extend my SP3 to. No cable, just internet. Enjoying it thus far. Anything else to consider?
I have PlayOn that streams from my laptop to my ps3 and Chromecasts. I download most shows from kat.cr, but only with a ton of virus blockers. I am looking for something for high Def sports. A federal court in Georgia ruled yesterday that third parties cannot get user identities from an ISP companies in fishing expeditions. http://arstechnica.com/tech-policy/...ghtscorps-piracy-fishing-expedition-and-wins/
Dog recently fried my comp so I'm peepin xfinity on the work tablet. There are tons of xfinity wifi hot spots in denver and I use my boys password and don't even have to pay for Internet. Put in my two weeks yesterday. Gfs comp is shit. Need something soon. Thinking abt getting a tablet.....
Anyone have experience using Kodi? I just discovered it and, uh...it literally might be the most amazing thing ever created ever. It's allowed me to cancel every other cable workaround I had and have live streaming of every channel in the world. It also gives me on demand access to more shows and movies than netflix. I'm getting more comfortable with it but it's complicated enough to where I still feel like I'm missing out on some awesome features. http://kodi.tv/ edit: and money and computer aids free
Have to think they'll be better and better alternatives. I think more and more people are starting to consider doing/are doing this. I just got tired of paying $110+ every month for something I barely used outside of football season.
Use a Roku. Have a Slingbox connected to a spare Directv box at my parents house. Mostly just use that to watch Royals games. Use various logins for HBOGo, WatchESPN, and Netflix Amazon Instant Video is included with Amazon Prime subscription. I also got SlingTV for the NBA playoffs. Will cancel at the end of the month. Use Torrance for TV shows not on HBO.
Had to sign up for it for 3 months for the playoffs too. Got a Roku 3 for $50 so that was cool. Will be cancelling as well but still a good service.
idk how to cancel it. i meant to cancel it after the tournament and deleted my card from my amazon account that it was billing.
Well gf moved out and the cable was in her name... Is there a guide on how to not have cable? What happens with sports?
get sling tv. $25/month gets you espn/espn2/espnnews/sec network/tnt/tbs/hgtv can even upgrade and get hbo in that package. can cancel at any time and if you sign up for 3 months you get a free amazon fire stick thus allowing you to stream slingtv https://www.sling.com/
Have Netflix, Amazon Prime and all of the Go apps (HBO, Showtime, ESPN, etc) thanks to my brother's directv log in. Going to go with slingTV when I get back home next month. Don't really miss cable at all.
1.Get a media player. Roku or Fire tv either the stick or box of either are good. 2. Sign up for Netflix, Prime and Hulu. 3. Get logins from someone for espn/hbo/showtime. 4. torrance everything else or what you can't get a login for.
So many of these posts are about mooching. Spoiler Will probably mooch once I no longer have roommates
I assume I'll just cancel the auto-renew once my 3 months is almost over. I can't imagine it being difficult. If I couldn't torrance all my show, Sling would be a great option. Hopefully more channels will be added down the road.
When I sign up for slingTV is there an advantage to the Roku3 or the stick? Also can I stream my HBO and other apps to that or should I keep my ChromeCast for that?
apparently you use this link to cancel your subscription https://www.amazon.com/gp/mas/your-account/myapps/yoursubscriptions/ref=mas_ya_subs the thing is that there is nothing listed on my profile here so maybe i am getting it for free
You get a faster and more high quality stream with the box. In the long run, the extra $50 was negligible for me in deciding to get the Roku 3's over the sticks.
I didn't sign up through Amazon and I already saw the charge on my credit card, so I'm definitely paying. I just signed up through the Sling website.
when i tried to manage my account on slingtv, it says go to contact amazon for billing inquiries idk all this would be simple if i just looked at my cc charges but i dont like doing that so im just gonna risk it
I have the amazon fire tv box my kids have the stick. Major difference is the box is more powerful. Has more storage and is bluetooth headphone compatible.
There will be a huge crackdown on multiple logins in the next year. Basically all of these sites will be going to a single-user system where only one location can be logged in at a time
most of my stuff is from my parents who arent even aware they have logins so that will be fine by me slingtv already has this. i'll watch a game on my tv and then switch to my ipad when i go to bed and it cuts the downstairs feed immediately
I got the Apple TV just so I could get the HBO Now now. I have Amazon on my PS4 so it wasn't an issue.
when i log into the slingtv site, it says "no billing info found for account" so it appears i have gotten free slingtv
If I had to guess, a mixture of both. The way Sling does it is purely by IP. One device, one connection. You could see a company like Comcast or HBO do it to where it's a range of IP addresses based on your home network, then with one device allowed simultaneously to that. They're gonna find a way to cut off some moochers though, for certain.
I'm not sure HBO and the like can get away with that. If I'm paying for it and you tell me that I can't watch it on the road while my wife watches at home I'd tell you to get fucked.
It would really suck. A major selling point of the amazon box and stick is that they allow for networks that require Web based authentication. From what I understand you can hook it up in hotels to watch stuff which I think you can't do with an apple tv or the rokus.
Cut cable a few months ago and don't regret it. Able to stream HBO/Showtime/ESPN/Netflix etc with ease through my Xbox One. Also have the HD antenna for NBC/ABC/CBS. Unfortunately, there isn't an NBC sports app on XB1 yet. Buddy is letting me borrow his iPad to HDMI connector - does anyone have experience with it? Can I stream stuff like Fox Sports Go and NBC sports app well?
Isn't Apple coming out with a new version of Apple TV later this year? has it been 3-4 years since they've updated the specs on it?
No idea but the NBC mobile app is different than their website streaming. The mobile app wouldn't let me stream the super bowl or CFP whichever one they had, but their website would.
Yea you're opening Pandora's box on that one. Netflix has how many devices can watch simultaneously in their subscription.
Most likely but the next thing is they will announce their own paid subscription options. Not that I will use it, I think it will be the driving force between changing the market over the next couple years where cutting the cord is really feasible for most.
That's exactly what Sling does. What you'd have is tiered HBO pricing e.g. $15/month for one connection, $25 for two
Are you taking about HBO now or HBOgo? Cause I don't think many people would pay for HBO at home and then pay again to be able to use the app.
Cutting the cable thread, so I'm mostly talking about the HBOGO standalone subscription. HBO home subscription moochers will be subject to whatever that cable/satellite company does to combat them
