i don’t find it strange that no one had come out yet. I think that ship has sailed and they should go to the cops now. I hate to ask this because I know how it will come off but do women who don’t want to go to the cops generally go the civil route?
It seems like in our current climate, women come forward to the police much quicker now than in years past. In no way am I suggesting Watson is innocent. Just seems surprising to me that 22+ decided against that route. Buzbee also seems like a weird cat. But I don't see anyway this ends well for Watson with 22+ women coming forward. Crazy stuff.
weird how women wouldn’t come out against a famous and extremely well liked athlete. Almost like his power is rather intimidating.
but, they have come out. This isn’t 20 years into the future. They are out. If it was 2040 I would understand that interpretation but they are out so I hope they go to the cops.
the lawyer said he will put together his dossier of information and give it to the police when he's done. that hasn't happened yet, as far as i know, but it also could still happen. the lawyer said he had been contacted formally by the HPD but walked that back to saying he spoke to a friend on the force. HPD tweeted out that they hadn't spoken with the layer. Sort of conflating two different things.
Yes, hence: Whether their reasons for not coming forward are shame, because they were afraid of his "power", or whatever, it would appear (provided Watson is guilty) that the women he victimized are exactly the type to not come forward. It could be some kind of conspiracy/cash grab, sure, but it could also be what I mentioned above or even that Watson targeted exactly that sort of girl expecting that they wouldn't come forward.
I'm not saying it has never happened, but I've never heard of a victim of this kind of crime not coming forward looking for criminal charges and then filing a civil case. Usually if they don't come forward, then they don't ever come forward. I would assume this sort of situation is exceedingly rare. I'm sure there is someone here with more experience in this sort of thing that would know the answer with more certainty, though.
This is a strange situation because of a few things. With this amount of victims it is strange that there have never been any rumors or rumblings. Even when women don’t come forward there are rumors. I can’t remember anything like this that came out of nowhere. Louis Ck, Cosby, Wientien (sp) all had rumors. The people saying well “women are often afraid to go to the cops/ come out with their stories for many reasons” are 100% correct. But, while that might be the case originally that isn’t the case now. They are now out. There no reason for them not to go to the cops. Lastly on a personal note I’ll admit race is playing a part on my bias. Watson being a successful black man who has seemingly done good in the community makes me hope this story is false. It would mean women didn’t get assaulted and it wouldn’t feed a fucked up narrative about black men.
A person being sexually assaulted, not reporting it to the police, but then filing a civil case over it? You know of that happening often? I could certainly be wrong, and I feel confident it has probably happened at least once before, but I cannot recall ever having heard of that happening.
No, I’d assume we don’t hear about it very often at all because of things like NDA’s out of court settlements, etc. Victims of sexual assault often feel guilt, and shame and the last thing they’re interested in is a public trial where their credibility is attacked and they have to relive trauma. It’s why I’d assume for every one that we know about publicly, there’s probably hundreds of cases we’ll never know about involving wealthy or famous people because they have the means to keep things out of the public eye most of the time.
Agreed. I'm not shocked that no women came forward to the police, though with the number of accusers I'd be lying if I claimed I wouldn't have expected at least 1 to have reported something (maybe one of them did try to report it and it was buried?) but I am very surprised that there have never been any kind of rumors. I'm not implying he is innocent because of that, just that it is surprising. To preface this next statement, aren't some of these women masseuses working in parlors, etc? Or are all women he contacted on Instagram/social media and brought to his location? If the latter part then this may be moot. It is one thing to not go to the police, but quite surprising that it appears that none of these women ever spoke of it to anyone at all, such as a friend or co-worker. I get the ones claiming actual sexual assault (the forced kiss and forced oral) not saying anything, but it is curious that something like the b-hole oiling story never got told around the proverbial water cooler and, if it did, didn't become a rumor around town.
i think they are massage therapist and if so I can understand why they didn’t go to the cops. They probably thought they wouldn’t be believed. We just had 8 people killed at massage parlors and the cop sympathizing with the killer.
Yeah, I agree with that. I was speaking more to the surprise there wasn't any sort of rumor that got out about him regarding this sort of thing. You'd think some of these stories, specifically the ones where he just seemed to have created an uncomfortable situation, would have been mentioned to a friend or co-worker and gotten out. Again, not speaking at all to his guilt or innocence here, just to my surprise that there wasn't some kind of gossip going around about his behavior if the allegations are true.
Or worse the Hispanic guy cuffed and detained by cops only to find out hours later that his wife died. https://www.cnn.com/2021/03/22/us/s...-handcuffed-husband-of-victim-trnd/index.html
Had some leftover Chinese food last night and the General Tso's Chicken was not nearly as spicy as I was hoping. But those egg rolls were solid. At some point I should try switching it up and getting something different, but that has been my staple for years and I am a large, standoffish, unfriendly man who fears change (and sometimes I will talk sports).
Could be wrong and the timing of this all is weird, but I have a feeling the evidence once all out is going to be pretty damning
i'm a big fan of swapping back and forth between general tso's and mongolian beef. sometimes you can ask for them to make the mongolian beef spicy and when they do baby you are gonna be feelin good
Yeah I don't think that's a bold statement. There are a shit load of women who appear to have been mistreated by Watson It is sobering to think how my interest in college football can help create these situations. Guys get propped up as great people because they are good in sports and come out of these small college town environments where a head coach basically runs the school and can control the media narratives and no one dares to question things
I don't get the "coordinated conspiracy" takes at all. What would be the end-game if the Texans ownership group was doing this? Destroy his reputation so they can't trade him for anything and even his own fans hate him if he comes back? How the hell would you even go about coordinating dozens of women who have social media interactions with Watson from months and months ago to come out against them and ruin their lives if this is all proven to be false?
No, believe me I am not a Watson fan. Honestly I have a similar outlook on this as Daniel Ocean in that I really hope it didn't happen because as shitty as it would be of these women and Buzbee to be making this up, it would still be better than 22 women having been sexually assaulted and intimidated into silence by this guy. At this point though, the best case scenario for Watson is that the allegations are being exaggerated and he is really just a creep that needs to learn some healthy boundaries and that is admittedly looking like a very pie in the sky outcome at this point. As much as I feel the timing of the accusations and the fact that so many women had this happen to them and never said anything is odd, it would be even more weird that all 22 women are completely fabricating all of this to get a payday and smear Watson's name. Whole situation is fucked and I really don't know what to think, mostly because it's the Texans and anything is possible in that rabbit hole.
We been over this ad nauseam, I'm not talking about reporting it to the police, I'm referring to them not ever saying anything to anyone, especially the stories not alleging actual assault, but just him being weird (i.e. the butthole oiling allegation) and there never even being any rumors about his behavior. That doesn't mean they are lying, it is just makes the possibility of his guilt even more shocking.
Who are you even talking about then? Their family? Their friends? Jack Easterby? And whoever you are referring to how do you know they didn't?
Well, anyone means anyone, so I suppose it would encompass all of those people along with literally anyone else. I don't KNOW that they didn't, but it appears that they didn't since the only statements we have are from these women through this lawyer, nobody else has come out to corroborate their stories (friends, family, etc.), and there have never been any rumors or whispers of his behavior before. When this goes to court, things could come out that change that, but as of now, it looks like they never said anything to anyone. It doesn't mean they are lying, it is just something that is surprising to me. I'm not exonerating Watson, I'm simply not condemning him until the facts come out and we have more to go on that a bunch of accusations. You seem to be of the opinion that I'm crazy for thinking it appears that they never told anyone else, but let me ask you, how do you know that they did tell others? Do you have any evidence at all to support your apparent assumption that they did tell friends or family?
I don't. I never said they did. I asked you as you seem pretty confident they never did. This is not a fact. You do not know this. Neither of us have any earthly idea who they told, what they told etc. you are the only one claiming it as a fact. These womens names haven't even been released you think their family and friends should be out corroborating their stories??? Dude sit back and let actual facts come out before making these absurd assumptions.
The latest lawsuit comes from a Los Angeles-based massage therapist who said Watson reached out to her on Instagram and arranged for her to come see him at a home in Beverly Hills in July. The masseuse alleges that Watson led her into a room where he shut the door and locked it behind him, which led her to pull out her mace and evoked a chuckle from Watson. As in the other allegations, the massage therapist says Watson didn’t want to have a sheet draped over him during the session, but she insisted he at least have a towel over his groin The suit alleges that Watson was aggressive in his direction of the massage, eventually removed the towel, grabbed the massage therapist’s hands and forced them onto his penis. When the massage was over, the masseuse alleges that Watson told her, “I will not have you sign a NDA (non-disclosure agreement) but don’t ever talk about this.”
Yea there is more than enough out there to believe he is a gigantic piece of shit. I hope his career is over and he is sued for everything he has. After all that, he is forced to be a position coach at Tennessee.
Yeah, if there were some kind of "coordinated conspiracy," it will be extremely easy to uncover. I can't imagine an attorney of the profile and success of Buzbee risking pretty much everything for that.
